  1. This actually got me thinking...why is it that you never see marginal major league starters suffer major injuries? you're complimenting Neifi.
  2. Lol @ jinxes. Bringing them together just encourages them to multiply. Really, what more can happen? Z and aram go down. And then we have a complete team of scrubs.
  3. Can someone explain to me why? Is there a rule or something?
  4. Why can't we have an injury thread, we had one last year.
  5. :( :( Why the hell can't Neifi tear his shoulder?
  6. Umm what rumor? Nothing on the transaction page....
  7. Cubs.com Is that a backhanded insult to Jerry and Neifi? I agree, but I didn't expect him to come out and say if he plays, he's better than those two.
  8. And to think I thought his leg was gonna fall off from routine meniscus surgery.
  9. Thank you. I'm not arguing that he's been consistently healthy, I never have. Those stats that you provided in this post are much more indicative of judging him as a pitcher, than his win totals. I just can't stand the "wins" argument for determining the worth of a pitcher.
  10. Williams has a fraction of the skills that Wood does.. WHO CARES HOW MANY GAMES A STARTING PITCHER WINS. WINS ARE A TEAM STAT. They are the LAST metric that a pitcher should be judged by IMO. ahhhhhhhhhh. I need a ice pick jammed in my eyes when I read "he's never won more than 14 games".
  11. *if you believe the Cubs (which in this surgery I do): Chicago Cubs.com
  12. Maybe we'll get Graffanino and Neifi will get magically run over by a truck?
  13. Dude, Jones can play defense. He's had a pretty nice spring so far. Maybe he will rebound to 2002-2003? Maybe he really did feel the pressure to be Mr. Everyone for the Twins? I know it's only been 2 weeks of ST, but he's done Ok.
  14. Yes. Absolutely nothing should be read into this injury, due to the almost spotless health history of Kerry Wood. I'd be more worried about his arm problems (which have a history) than a routine procedure that most ALL athletes have done to clean out tissue in their knees. I think "most ALL athletes" is an exaggeration, but I agree with the tone of your post. The proceduce itself doesn't really concern me, and it's common enough to make me think it won't affect him. What I'm still concerned with is his rehab in general from the arm surgery. Well most probably IS an exaggeration, but it is a very common procedure. I, too, am worried about his shoulder/arm falling off. If he doesn't and he makes 23-26 starts, prior makes 30+ and Z makes 30+, we'll make the playoffs.

  16. Well, I'm the guy that does this type of operation. I was pretty accurate in my statement of inference 8) This is a message board any one can say anything. I haven't ready anyone making declaritve statements about being a medical expert except for one person. Whether this person is actually a medical expert or not has not been demonstrated. If the person is, it is much better to edify then the criticize. When do they teach bedside manner in medical school anyway? I think the people who posted about Wood's condition were attempting to give the best information that they could given what they know about wood's condition. Enough with the owned crap. I didn't say anything about anyone getting owned. One guy posted a smart-ass statement with that stupid  and tommyjohn, from his posts, clearly had a level of understanding beyond a laymen. Or he stayed in a Holiday Inn Express. The guy who  did get owned, but that's ok, this is the first time I said it.
  17. Why do you act like he's happy to be just sitting on his ass, not pitching, competing, and picking up a paycheck? Honestly CubbieRich, you have it out for him on a personal level. Did he still a girl from you in a previous life or something? I know he's being paid, and not performing to that paycheck, but it seems your dislike and hatred for him go above and beyond just a player who is oft-hurt. Badger, my friend..looks like you're coming over to my side. I expect the highest paid pitcher of the Cubs to lead the team by his performance, very hard to do from the perpetual DL. After years of denying he has bad mechanics, he now admits that he has changed them this winter. Steve Stone is right again. Thank goodness this $12 million DL veteran will be somewhere else next year. Are you moved yet? Have you found Mickey's Diner in St. Paul near the State Capitol? Hope everything is going well. Here how's he suffering through his rehabs every year. How much offense could that house buy? http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y238/CubsGallery/krissyhouse.jpg I'm sorry, but that's the dumbest post I've seen in a long time. What does the house have to do with anything? Because he has a big house he doesn't care?
  18. Can you please list numbers that show this? Woody only wishes he has posted numbers like Sheets has the last two years. Wood 2003: 14-11, 3.2 ERA, 133 ERA+, 1.19 WHIP, 2.66:1 K/BB Ratio Sheets 2004: 12-14, 2.7, 154 ERA +, .98 WHIP, over 8:1 K/BB Ratio Sheets 2005 (Nearly as good as Wood's 03), 10-9, 3.33 ERA, 127 ERA +, 1.07 WHIP, near 6:1 K/BB ratio. I'd take Sheets over Woody in half a heartbeat. I'll take Woody for the rest of his career over Sheets for the rest of his career if todays news that I heard is accurate.

  20. It may take 5 years. The Cubs get knocked on all the time for not signing the big name, but that's because they usually don't offer the years the big names require. Then trade him for some decent prospects. Not that I want it to happen, but Hendry wouldn't have the balls to do that.

Hope everything is going well. 1) When did he change his mechanics? He had surgery, I never read anything about mechanics. 2) You still act like he enjoys being injured but still getting paid 3) You may thank goodness now, but if he figures it out, it's gonna be painful to watch him succeed elsewhere 4) Yes I'm all settled in, but I'm in MPLS so I haven't explored St. Paul (and i've only been here for 7 days! 5) Wood is still my favorite Cub.
  22. Regardless, it looks like this procedure WASNT a big deal, and everyone who thought the sky was falling, should go purchase their jump to conclusions mats.
  23. Found this image  http://www.glossynews.com/artman/uploads/barry-bonds-asterisk.jpg
  24. The theory would be that the longer he is out due to the knee, his pitching related delay increases exponentially. It's not a 1 for 1 situation, where if you miss 1 day, you take 1 extra day to prepare. What he's saying is everyday he misses could setback his recovery from his shoulder. It would erase the progress to date and force him to almost start over where he was a week to 10 days prior to the surgery. But I think he was saying "as much as a month" meaning worst case scenario. If he can't do much throwing for 10 days (doubtful, from what I can tell) then 10 days after the surgery he would essentially be where he was several days prior to the surgery, and would then have to start from that point moving forward. I also think that was taking into account the idea that Wood might have started by mid-April, something I always thought was doubtful. I thought Woody was only missing one day of "pitching"/arm strength throwing? I thought tomorrow he will be throwing from a chair to maintain arm strength and then when he can put pressure on the leg he will play flat footed long toss etc.
