  1. Matthews is having a great year, and looks to be finally breaking out as he was finally given lots of PT starting last year. He'll be 32 in August. Would anyone be interested in him playing CF and leading off next year? 2003: 306 AB .271/.346/.379 4 HR/22 RBI 66K/34BB 12 SBs 2004: 280 AB .275/.350/.461 11 HR/36 RBI 64K/33BB 5 SBs 2005: 475 AB .255/.320/.436 17 HR/55 RBI 90K/47BB 9 SBs 2006: 392 AB .319/.370/.500 10 HR/50 RBI 66K/32BB 7 SBs Career: .259/.333/.413/.746 It could be the case of "contract year," but he put up decent numbers in 03 and 04 in limited time. He has some decent pop, and could swipe 10-15 bags in a season. I wouldn't mind signing him to a 2-3 year deal. Thoughts?
  2. I partially agree with you, but IF they were to trade TJ i'd rather they go after a TE than a WR. Moosh, Bradley, and Berrian at least have somewhat of a chance to be an above average WR group, but Desmond Clark and his pothead backup are one of the worst TE duos in the NFL. I hoped they'd address it in the draft, they didn't. I hoped they'd address it in FA, they didn't. IF they were to make a trade I still hope that is what they would address, but i doubt TJ is actually goin anywhere. I agree. I wanted Marcedes Lewis so bad in the draft. Who has an extra solid TE available and needs a RB?
  3. The Broncos offered Lelie to us for Jones but we weren't interested. I hope our front office changes their mind. I love TJ, but I think Benson is going to be a complete stud. We have a very good backup in Peterson, and Benson should be our starter. Move TJ for a true #1 receiver and watch this offense become very, very good.
  4. You aren't used to it yet? I actually get confused when he doesn't.
  5. "I used to run base like Juan Pierre" Annnnd he was safe. thanks fatty.
  6. That's funny because I could probably explain it to him in 100 words or less. You could do it Dr. Suess style: Dusty Baker is a cool cat. He made sure the young batters sat. Hendry did nothing about that. He cleared space for Glendon who's fat. =D>
  7. Ahh, I'm so glad I get to watch you for a few more months Aramis (hopefully more).
  8. Did Hendry just say something like "any serious baseball fan who follows the game probably isn't concerned for next year" ?? or did I make that up...
  9. He is continuously the only bright spot on and off the field on our team.
  10. 2006 numbers: Perez: .256 avg Izturis: .252 avg Perez: .625 OPS Izturis: .655 OPS Career numbers: Perez: .270, .678 Izturis: .260, .634 It looks to me like Neifi is actually BETTER than Izturis. Which is the saddest thing I've ever written. Saddest thing I've ever read.
  11. Unreal. We could've probably gotten any of LA's decent prospects and we get another Neifi-Cedeno-esque player. I hate you, Jim Hendry.
  12. The cubs are not just "giving away" Ramirez. They are getitng a pretty solid starter in Ervin Santana. And Aybar is good too. I'd rather get two solid young players than Tejada, to be honest.
  13. Ramirez agrees to $42 million contract That was over a year ago. People change. A year ago the Cubs looked like they could be going in the right direction after 04, now look at them. So have you seen a quote from Ramirez anywhere that he might opt out or is this pure conjecture on everyones part? No, I haven't. But I don't doubt that it. As said by others, it's pure indication at this point, but it would not surprise me.

  15. I'd take Nixon though. Isn't Nixon a FA at the end of the year. I'd rather trade Maddux for youth. Did not know that. That definitely changes things.
  16. While I agree with it being nice to get Maddux back in the playoffs, he's already won a World Series. We did him that favor once already. I want something solid for him if we're going to deal him
