  1. Umpires in general. So many of them think they are above the game now. No one is there to see them, just call the game fairly and quit trying to show everyone up.
  2. I'm assuming it's the more than 45 days part that gets him. He's never gone past 50IP. But it says during the period of a 25-player limit, which is before September. In 06 he was on the team for 55 games or so when he was up for August and September, but the 25 player limit is dropped in September, right? I'm officially confused Doesn't matter. The first part says "exceeded 50 innings pitched in the major leagues" and Volquez had 80 coming into this year. It doesn't say "in one season" so I would assume that to mean 50 career innings pitched, which he has surpassed. My first thought is that it was cumulative IP, not just one season, but then I began questioning myself, so I wasn't sure.
  3. The Cubs have never swept a season series against the Atlanta Braves. Let's do that.

  5. So wait. I didn't think Volquez was a rookie either but I looked at his BR page to check it out. He pitched 34 innings in 06 and 33 in 07. I know 50 IP is the cutoff for qualifying for ROY or whatever. Is it a running total over the course of numerous seasons? Otherwise I can't figure out why he wouldn't be a rookie.
  6. If you are properly swinging over 100 mph, you need a stiff shaft. That's what she said.
  7. Even when laid down by the pitcher, or by a lousy hitter in the 9th inning when you only need 1 run to win? No. I figured someone would ask me about that or the stolen base thing. It's not so much that I dislike the sac bunt or a stolen base, but it's how it has transformed with players or managers. Nothing drives me crazier than when the leadoff man gets on, and the next guy tries to sac bunt him over. It's even more crazy seeing this in the first inning of games. Just like a runner trying to steal in front of the heart of the lineup. Obviously there are good times to do these things, but you rarely see that any more.
  8. the Hit and Run the pitcher batting 8th stealing in front of your 3-4 hitters (actually, stealing at all) players who can't get a bunt down but in the same sense...sacrifice bunts also irritate me.
  9. that content was deleted. here's the whole race, which i just now got to see. ridiculous. http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/share.html?videoid=0811_hd_swb_hl_l0194&forcereload=true That is the FIRST TIME I've seen that video. And wowsa.........I'm breathless......... All I've wanted to do since last night is find a copy of the video so I can save it on my computer. NBCOlympics.com won't let me watch it because my Mac isn't an Intel Mac. Apparently non-Intel Macs are not capable of watching videos, according to NBC. If anyone has it on their computer and wants to sendspace it or email it to me, I'd be forever grateful.
  10. Well it's the last year anyways.
  11. not sure, but i like it. I worked my first ever track meet earlier this year and Steeple Chase was one of the events. It's perhaps the stupidest, most bizarre event ever.
  12. I sold my 4 front row upper deck seats for the NLDS game 3 last year for $900. Personally my plan is to get lucky in the VWR, buy 4 tickets, sell 2 of them, and use the other 2.
  13. I'm absolutely doing that. Even if I have swimming/diving meets I have to work. I'll blow them off, I don't care.
  14. I wanna punch that douche who keeps talking to the camera.
  15. So I'm not a big gymnastics follower and I just flipped it on. I know the US lost both Hamms, so I assume that the US getting any kind of medal was supposed to take a miracle, right?
  16. Oh well. Take out some of the other starters too. They could use the rest.
  17. Well, I wasn't huge on Williams like a lot of people. I was big on Branden Albert, but he's hurt too. This year should be fun. Henie looked good. I wish we could see him against a first team defense just to see how good he actually is (not very I'm sure), but he made some nice passes and seemed to have a really tight spiral.
