  1. of course it hits that part of the wall that juts out instead of going into the corner. if we get 3 here, we might have a shot.
  2. once again, MurtonFan is now available.
  3. wow, great patience on some close pitches by the mets this inning.
  4. though in the case of ankiel, it's probably because he horribly misread the ball off the bat and is forced to make the diving catch. everyone has such a boner over his outfield arm that they forget that he costs them way more runs with his reads than he gets back with a strong arm. It's true. I watch my fair share of STL games and it's hilarious how much the announcers go crazy for his arm but you'll always see him screw up some relatively easy fly balls because of his routes. Also, Cards just got a huge break on a terrible call by the first base ump.
  5. The Cards make more diving catches on sinking liners than anyone. It's amazing, actually.
  6. The offense will explode for 6 or 7 but the staff will give up 8 or 9.
  7. Yeah, screw him. He only went 2-for-5 today. What a bum. No, you're right, he's definitely a $12M outfielder. Way to judge him based on four months in his first year in the majors. Hideki Matusi had a .788 OPS in his first year with the Yankees. He hasn't had one under .850 since. Not to mention that he's in the midst of a slump, which every single player in the majors goes through at some point during the season. His numbers have declined every month since April. I'm not saying he'll be this bad in the future, but I don't care about the future. He's terrible now. If he was in a slump and still walking I'd be less concerned, but his OBP has gone from .436 at the end of April to .412 at the end of May to .404 at the end of June to .381 right now. He has a .690 OPS since June 1st. I think it's more than a slump at this point.

  9. he's actually physically incapable of staying in the box on a swing
  10. ball beat him. fielder will get that almost every time.
