  1. Where did Hermida come from? And who is better ... Hermida or Bradley? Hermida can actually play for us and not just sit on the DL . . . so Hermida. Teach me about Hermida, I feel like I'm missing something. He had a great year in 07, his first full year, but was pretty awful last year. His slugging and OBP took a big hit. Was there a reason for that, or are we just hoping to buy low and hope he returns to form? he's only 25 he's had major league success he's getting out of dolphins stadium he has awesome minor league numbers i think he's a great buy-low option Ok, I wasn't sure if he had gotten hurt or something. I wouldn't mind him over the likes of Teahen and DeJesus, but I still think I'd rather have Bradley. Of course if Hendry's plan is to get Peavy, get Hermida, and then go hard after Furcal, I'd be all over that. I'm the one who suggested Furcal, not any of the sources. It was just a suggestion. With the money for losing Marquis and DeRosa basically making Peavy's contract a wash, and getting a cheap RF like Hermida (Cedeno's money would make that a wash), maybe there is room to add Furcal. Oh I know it wasn't an official rumor, I was just thinking along a similar mindset to that. I don't know how much we'd have exactly, but I'm sure after unloading Marquis and DeRosa would more or less wash out Peavy for this year, and Hermida would wash out Cedeno, we'd still have some extra money floating around to make another move or two.

  3. WHat board? Cubs.com board LOL. Suddenly I don't believe we're trading for a RF anymore.

  5. I don't really want to trade for a RF (at least none of the ones mentioned), but if half the package we traded for Jake Peavy included Kevin Hart and Jason Marquis I'd s my pants
  6. I won't mind rooting for Wood on the Indians. At least it's an AL team. :( One that routinely plays against the White Sox. And one that comes to Wrigley Field from June 19-21. I usually find it lame when guys come back here to St. Louis and the fans shower praise on them, i.e. Edmonds and Taguchi. But I think Woody deserves some recognition from the fans when he comes back for his time here. Thing is, if he comes in to try to close a game it would be weird to have the fans cheering him. meh...i will cheer him on...root for him to succeed...and won't be upset if he does it's kid k baby! i'll give him a standing O when he comes out, hope we rock his world, then go back to loving him again after the game.
  7. lol. Levine's not terrible, but he's far from the best source for Cubs info. I trust Mr. Miles a million times over before I trust Levine.
  8. why not? you do it on every other board anyways.
  9. Jesus those guys are clowns. I love DeRosa, easily my second or third favorite player on the team, but DeRosa isn't a player you don't trade if you can get Jake freakin' Peavy.
  10. Bradley for 10M a year or less would be outstanding.
  11. Just reported on ESPN as Breaking News
  12. I'd rather keep Z, trade for Peavy, and sign Bradley.
  13. Circle of Death I'm guessing? Wow that's a great rule. Thanks for that.
  14. Yeah, plus use him out of the pen in long relief. Eating $4M seems more reasonable as it still clears $6M, but eating $6M seems crazy, especially if it doesn't hinder us signing someone like Bradley.
  15. I was under the impression that all potential owners knew and signed off (maybe not officially) on the payroll being between $140M-$150M
  16. We wouldn't need trading chips though if we got Peavy+Bradley. Plus, out of those six players, who at this point really has any value? Vitters, obviously. DeRo, but we're selling high. Cedeno isn't good, Hill has gone crazy, Marquis is overpaid, and Pie is a question mark. Yeah, that's horrible logic. About 90% of the short-season A ball team won't make it to the majors, so the Cubs should just trade the entire Boise Hawks franchise to San Diego too by that logic. The fact is, the Cubs would be losing 2/5 of their starting rotaiton from last year, their starting 2B, two of their projected bench players from this year, AND their #1 prospect....and would get 1 (albeit good) player. I'm not saying they should trade six players, or even think they will, but how big of a loss are those guys? They are replaceable. We're really complaining about losing 2/5 of our starting rotation, when we added Harden last year and Peavy this year? We're complaining about losing two bench players? That's all that Cedeno will be. These aren't high quality players that we're losing.

  18. I bet they put Rosenthal and ESPN guys in their own room, far away from anyone else, and they just sit there and make up [expletive] and report it.
  19. Sports Center live just reported the Cubs are not close to getting Peavy, but named no sources that I heard. What's Sports Center?
  20. Last year I really thought Rosenthal emerged as a guy in the mainstream media who actually knew what he was talking about with rumors and stuff, but this year he looks like a goon.
