  1. Sometimes I forget how awful the Pirate TV crew is.
  2. Same Yeah, this season has been so fun that the thought of it potentially ending due to the outcome of one game make me antsy.
  3. God yes. My brother and his wife had their wedding in late August, outdoors, without shade, in the early afternoon, in Albuquerque. The ceremony was only about 30 minutes, but it felt like two hours. Wearing a 50's style suit (it was a Mad Men themed wedding) and black patent leather shoes, I thought that I might actually combust. A few months later, I told him that the time and place had been a really bad idea, and he admitted that they both had regretted it almost immediately.
  4. Love this. Yeah, that got a chuckle out of me.
  5. Now Berry getting thrown out by a cold Tony Cruz was pretty fluky.
  6. They think he's a saint. Most of those mouthbreathers are going to demand an investigation when he isn't a first ballot HoF'er (or a HoF'er at all).
  7. Five, I think. The 5-0 first inning game. The game Strop blew in the 8th. The Peralta HR game. The other game Strop blew in the 8th. And now this one. And the Cubs have NO fluky [expletive] wins against the Cardinals this year in... 18 games? Un [expletive] real. The Peralta HR game is hands down the worst loss of the year, imo. But I wouldn't call it fluky. Strop giving up a HR to Greg [expletive] Garcia was horsecrap, though. how can you not call a loss with a lead and 2 outs in the 9th fluky? http://www.fangraphs.com/wins.aspx?date=2015-07-08&team=Cubs&dh=0&season=2015 I guess that depends on how you define fluky. To me, a walk followed by a homer from a home run hitter isn't "fluky". For me, something has to be really improbable for me to consider it a fluke. Semantics, I guess.
  8. holy [expletive] are you serious? this dude is amazing he never ceases to amaze me by somehow managing to shock me with the ridiculousness of the things he says and it's all genuine I guess it depends on how you define "worst." Was it not the most frustating, at least? Between the bad send in the 8th and Berry getting thrown out by a cold catcher for the first time in 26 attempts in the 9th, the Cardinals had absolutely no business winning this game. We should be 4 back. And if you want to take it farther and count those other 3 BS games, we should be no more than 1 back. The 2nd game of that DH sweep in July was the only game you can argue we "stole" from them, I guess. They've now stolen four. no, not even close. Cmon man, it's at least "close." I think only the Peralta game and the Goldschmidt game have left me more upset. Recency bias, lol. I was more upset about the last loss in St. Louis, and probably a half dozen more than that. Plus the way things are going right now, we feel like the Cubs should win every game, and that enhances the disappointment.
  9. Five, I think. The 5-0 first inning game. The game Strop blew in the 8th. The Peralta HR game. The other game Strop blew in the 8th. And now this one. 10. Of course MLB.tv is being trash right now.
  11. Why? If Rizzo isn't sent, you can't be sure Rosenthal comes in. Even if that AB happens the same, Castro gets a shot with bases loaded. Matheny brought in Maness because he induces a lot of gidps (but also sucks a good portion of the time). He probably wasn't bringing in Rosenthal until two were down regardless.
  12. There's no question that it was a bad send, it was short right, it was Heyward, and Rizzo was the runner.
  13. holy [expletive] you are all kinds of ridiculous man Well I think the first part is fair. The 2nd part is an exaggeration, but we're definitely not winning the division without taking this game. We weren't taking it either way.
  14. If Matheny had and sense he'd being in Rosenthal. Even if, by some miracle Maness gets out of this, it was a prodigiously poor decision.
  15. I thought the stuff about beaning and "we don't start it, but we'll end it" was a bit melodramatic, but I loved him basically telling them to shove their book up their asses.
  16. It's really pretty amazing how unimpressive their roster is, considering their payroll. Good thing for them Kershaw and Greinke are among the bright spots.
  17. They've been seriously regressing to the mean, and the Cubs have had a hand in that. Plus, at this moment, the Cubs are playing better baseball. It's getting to them. They'll probably still win the division, but the Pirates and Cubs are both better teams right now, and many of the fans know it, and hate it.
  18. Wasn't anticipating it? He's played 125ish games in the majors this year. One would think he'd seen a take out slide or three before last night The majority of his playing time this year has been as a 3B. He's only played 55 games at SS this year, sporadically. And you don't just learn to hop out of the way of a take out slide by seeing a couple of them. It's an instinctive play you learn to make over time. Yeah, the seven plus years he spent in the KBO have done a lot more to engrain the routine of turning a DP than the 400 inning at SS this year, no doubt.
  19. I don't feel strongly about it, but it wouldn't bother me in the least if it was banned in the states as well.
