  1. I am too. But Gould is fine. He'd easily be our 2nd best pitching prospect, behind Vizcaino. No. He'd be behind Maples and Johnson, at the very least - and in a deep system, a rag-armed guy like Gould might not be in the top 10 pitching prospects. Maybe, maybe not. But given the position Theo and Jed have been put in, it's about the best we can expect at this point.
  2. I'd be fine with that at this point, all things considered.
  3. Keeping a lid on my expectations. If the return is les than stellar, it'll be hard to blame the FO. Here's to hoping, though.
  4. I think that is a risk some people would be willing to take. A year from now Texas very well may have gotten nothing for Brigham. It's not a huge deal either way, but I'd rather gamble on the young arm than the aging catcher. I love Geo, but I think there's a good chance he's done being productive player.
  5. I'm surprised someone didn't know he was still around. He's been a decent player for a few years. I liked him back then and didn't like that the Cubs let him go (though I had no idea he'd become the player he did).
  6. Pretty sure that was argued about Dempster this past offseason too. Good hitting catchers are a rarity and that's what Geo is when he's playing well. I have little doubt the return would have been considerably higher if he could have had a good rebound in the first half of 2013. And if Geo gets off to a poor start in 2013, you get less, maybe nothing. I think it's possible that Geo would have had a bounce back season for us next year, but his on/off/on pattern has gone on/off/off, and his position does have some bearing. I'm just not confident that he'll ever be 2008/2010 Geo again.
  7. [expletive] it, I'll say it. I was even sad to see Reed go. Me too. Had to be done, but it was a little sad.
  8. And this is why I stopped listening to sports radio years ago. You get a few nuggets here and there, but it's mostly a forum for knuckledraggers and mouthbreathers.
  9. About what? That he's clinically insane is already a given.
  10. My Twitter feed just petered out. Theo and Jed getting lazy.
  11. I have to go make dinner for the fam but I can't tear myself away from the computer right now...
  12. Really? They couldn't even get Gilmartin? This is Maholm and Johnson we're talking about.
  13. no [expletive] way the braves are that dumb If they are, it probably means there's something very wrong with Delgado. Or Wren.
  14. HRs are worrying, but the Texas League tends to be offense-oriented. I'm a bit more concerned that he's repeating the Texas League than anything else. He's big, has a decent K rate and doesn't walk a ton of guys, has a favorable go/fo and he's in the Texas League. And we have to remember that as much as we love him, Geo wasn't the hottest commodity.
  15. He said the same thing about Delgado for Dempster, so I guess that says something about how much Goldstein actually knows. That was much more than anyone expected. Goldstein is an ass, but he knows his prospects.
  16. A quick glance at his peripherals suggests it's not that bad.
  17. Something slightly better than that. Even if it's further away. Goldstein likes it for us, apparently.
  18. Too bad the trade comes with mandatory disfigurement.
