  1. Suzuki as in Ichiro? Is that even the slightest bit possible? I think that Seattle moving Ichiro is as unlikely a thing as you would see.
  2. Earth to Cubs Fans, Earth to Cubs Fans, Maybe, just maybe, Aramis asked for the whole day off, because he's hurting. That includes pinch-hitting. Really?
  3. You mean the other night when he tied the game with a HR or how he just tied the game now?
  4. Have you considered the possibility that A-Ram's quad is still hurting him and he is unavailable? Ramirez is on deck.
  5. Yeah, even if the game goes to extras you could leave Cedeno in the game and move Neifi to 3rd.
  6. 1-2-3 for Novoa. That would have been useful last inning after Prior let the first two runners reach.
  7. Somebody needs to take a deep breath and step away from the keyboard a bit. Maybe you should relax a bit. I'm getting sick and tired of this pathetic offense. Derrek smoked that ball, and there are more deserving targets for your venting.
  8. Teams with heart don't let that affect them. So please provide these amazing "heart" stats. Just silly. Being Tired effects EVERYONE no matter how big your heart is. Apparently Prior has no heart cause he threw 115 pitches and gave up the lead cause he was tired. Oh well, the "heart" beats us again  I am getting sick to death of people thinking that if a player or team isn't performing, it must be because they aren't playing with enough effort or intensity. It's total BS.
  9. And again with the second guessing. MrWood is the only one that said to pull Prior after the 7th. In this situation, Dusty's hands are tied. There is nobody trustworthy in the pen except Dempster and we need him for the 9th. Yesterday and today are both products of not having a decent arm in the pen. Also, you cannot expect to win too many games when you only score 2 runs at home. You can't expect your starters to throw complete games every day. No, but in a close game, a tiring Prior couldn't be much less effective than our trainwreck of a bullpen, could he? That's not Baker's fault. I have no problem with Prior coming out for the 8th. I do have a problem with Dusty leaving him in there after he gave up two hits to start the inning.
  10. You can't predict results, but the responsible thing to do is to field a lineup that satistically gives you the best chance of winning. Dusty rarely does this.
  11. Yes, Dusty loves to wait until the animals are out to close the barn door. At the very least Prior should have been pulled after the first two men reached. Just a thought.
  12. No offense, but what makes you think you know what the Cubs are feeling?
  13. Neifi is a pioneer of suckitude. He is always blazing a trail of new and inventive ways to fail. Derrek needs a day off, IMO. Then Derrek should have hinted at that. Oh, wait. He did. Dusty has been very un-Dusty-like in that regard this year. Any other year and he would not have been riding Lee and Burnitz this hard. Dusty either ignores or is oblivious to the obvious sometimes. I think the Almighty could blast a message into a stone wall with lightning right in front of him and he would disregard it if he didn't agree. Are you kidding? Dusty can't catch a break. People earlier were talking about the bad lineup he's tossed out there today. Do you really think there would be lots of people okay not having Lee and Ramirez in the lineup? A good bench and you could get away with that. A bad bench and you can't. THe guy can't catch a break from some people. Come on. There are better options than Macias. Neifi can play 3B for a game here or there. So can Barrett. And Lee could have been rested yesterday. I think I could put together a decent lineup w/o Ramirez and Lee: 1.Hairston 2B 2.Cedeno SS 3.Walker 1B 4.Burnitz RF 5.Murton LF 6.Gerut CF 7.Barrett C 8.Neifi 3B Now you know Dusty would do this: 1.Hairston CF 2.Perez 2B 3.Walker 1B 4.Burnitz RF 5.Hollandsworth LF 6.Barrett C 7.Macias 3B 8.Cedeno SS We don't have the greatest roster, but clearly Dusty really makes the worst of it, more often than not.

  15. Pie is injured. And when he comes back, he's going to stay in the minors until he is ready anyway. THe soonest we could possible see him is with the september call-ups, and that's being optimistic.

  17. Pie isn't even playing right now, so I doubt we will see much of him this year. As for your proposal, Brownlie has very little if any trade value at this point. Also, I don't think Hendry is going to trade Wood with his value as low as it is now. I think this would be more likely: Boston trades Ramirez Boston gets Soriano and Dellucci Texas gets Rusch, Nolasco, Mitre, Pinto and Patterson Texas trades Dellucci and Soriano Cubs get Ramirez Cubs trade Rusch, Nolasco, Mitre, Pinto, Patterson
  18. sure they are. chan ho park, a-rod's deal, etc, etc Ok, may be they used to be that stupid. They just ain't doing that deal. Throw in Wood or Big Z and they might. But then, we ain't doing that deal. It wouldn't take Z or Wood to get Soriano. Blalock or Teixeira, but not Soriano.
  19. Sportsline clocked it at 70. And that is part of what was so nasty about it.
  20. Brownlie, more than likely. I don't think Brownlie is even in the Cubs top 10 anymore.
  21. Not a good start. With the wind whipping straight in, I think we're going to have a hard time scoring runs.
  22. If Floyd continues to play like he has been, I could definately live with that.
  23. Is Murton hot because he's facing lefties or would he be hot no matter who he bats against? Before answering, he's struck out five times in 10 at-bats against righties. Hasn't he also gotten 3 hits in those 10 ABs? I'll ask again, is he hot because he's facing lefties or would he be hot anyway? I like Murton a lot, and would hope some of the vets would learn his plate discipline. I also don't want him in a position to be overmatched. As I said yesterday, I wouldn't have a problem with him facing a rookie righthander or a below average righthander. So, would he be playing considerably less under this scenario vs. the way he's being used now? I'm just glad that we're seeing two lefties this series. Again, I go back to my desire to get a true everyday leftfielder....the same desire I stated last off-season. Murton hit righties in the minors just fine, and when the alternative to Murton is a piece of excrement named Todd Hollandsworth I'll take Murton. If Holla is a piece of excrement, and he's a million times better at baseball than you, what does that make you? And what do Holla and Murton have to do with IMB! ? Nothing. If you are going to argue, at least argue with some relevance.
  24. Again, it isn't the booing that bothered some people, but the escalation to "Hawkins sucks" that seemed to be a bit too much. And Boras and Beltran kept Houston hostage all offseason by misleading them, and effectively handicapped the team going into the 2005 season by keeping them preoccupied until the offseason was all but over. He and his agent intentionally decieved the team and lied to the fans. That is far worse than what Hawkins did, IMO. Absolutely right. Holding a team hostage going into the season is better than blowing big game after big game down the stretch. How did he mislead them, btw? By saying he didn't want to play in New York, He wanted to stay in Houston, money wasn't the key issue, he forsaw staying in Houston etc. etc. etc. And after at the 11th hour the Astros proposed a deal which was rejected, but turned out to be nearly identical to the one he signed with the Mets, whom he supposedly didn't want to play for at all. Then Boras straight out lied and said the deals weren't comparable and the Astros bid was too late, though Drayton McLane vehemently contradicted that. And yes, it was worse. All Dusty had to do was switch closers. The Astros had a full blown personnel crisis. And I don't know why this is so hard for some people to grasp, but all that needed to happen was for Baker to pull LaTroy from the closer's role when it was clear he couldn't do it. He never could, and never should have been given the opportunity. If you are trying to drive in a nail with a screwdriver, at what point to you stop blaming the screwdriver and start blaming it's wielder? It's not like LaTroy was great closer with an awesome track record who inexplicably choked in the biggest games. He was always bad as a closer, and NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED. When are people going to start pointing the finger at the right person(s)?
