  1. The main reason any concession of the season is ridiculous. We're gonna be in this thing the whole way, whether it's deserved or not.
  2. As he has been the vast majority of the time.
  3. Didn't they actually cut salary this year? New stadium, WS windfall, and yet they don't add salary. Agree. I think they should have invested $28 million in a Jason Marquis-caliber player, or riddled themselves with an albatross of a contract (see: Carlos Lee). Just because you have money doesn't mean you should spend it...at least when it means grossly overpaying for overrated players. At this point, no one one your staff is Jason Marquis caliber. :P (for now, anyway) But seriously, they could have made an attempt to at least stay as good as they were last year, which they are clearly not. They didn't have to sign Lee, Soriano or others, there were decent players out there, but Jocketty did nothing as his team got worse. But if I were a Cards fan, I'd just be content with the title for now. Having said that, I think there is a very good chance the Cards are headed for a run like they had in the mid-90's.
  4. This is the way our society has become. No one is ever responsible for anything, since some sickness, illness or negligence of another (who in turn has some sickness/other to blame) is always to blame for everything.
  5. There was the time where being aggressive at the plate would've been a good thing. He gave Lee and Ramirez one chance to hit a straight fastball and they took it and both went chasing after sliders. That is one thing I have noticed about Cubs hitters: they take the meatballs and flail at the crap. Also, they seem bewildered by outside pitches.
  6. I was gonna say - maybe you're onto something here. I say keep him in the rotation except when his special time of the month comes, then give him a bottle of Midol and a "Steel Magnolias" DVD and put him in the bullpen. I thought Midol came in pill form? :? pills don't come in bottles anymore? Last time I checked, just about all of them do.
  7. I know Lou hasn't used the pen in optimal fashion, but he didn't "create" the problem. Eyre, Ohman and Howry have stunk in nearly every situation they have been brought into, particularly Eyre. But I agree, the decision to stick Gooz back in the pen is piss poor one.

  9. holy crap that's awesome. Maybe the best photoshop I have ever seen.
  10. Two wins against the Sox, two games the Sox blew. I love it. Yes, I find some sustenance in the pain of the Sox and their fans. But seriously, how awesome was this win? How much do two come from behind wins help after the Mets series? Freakin' awesome. \:D/
  11. I really wish I could have seen that live.
  12. My only regret is that I couldn't hear Hawk's call (or lack of one) on that slam.
  13. The Cubs are awesome at this game. Step 1 complete. Here comes the K. WRONG. Thankfully. But you know you were thinking it too.

  15. Rocky got his butt handed to him. His stats may be ok, but he let in just about every inherited runner he had. That may be true, but no more so than with Eyre, Ohman and Howry.
  16. This all just goes to show how shifty and unpredictable relievers are. You could have made a very good case the Cubs had the best bullpen in the league prior to the start of the season. Relievers should not be signed to multi-year contracts.
  17. Unfortunately, Eyre needs the boot as much as Howry. It's just a mess right now.
