  1. I clearly remember Bernard Gilkey breaking up Castillo's no hit bid, on a triple to right center, iirc.
  2. Soto is young and has been good in the past, and has the potential to be better. Hill is older, has never been anything but mediocre, and almost certainly won't be in the future. When you have a young player who's floor is what you get from the alternative on a regular basis, it doesn't make much sense not to go with him the vast majority of the time. Koyie shouldn't be getting more than one start every 10 games or so, really.
  3. You knew it'd be Pierre too. No, I really thought it'd be Pierzynski, for the salt in the wound effect.
  4. Well, at lest if it is broken up, it won't be AJP. That might have killed me.
  5. I'm not enjoying it. Yet. Like with most things Cubs related, I'm waiting for the punch line. If this thing happens, I'll enjoy the hell out of it.
  6. I'd be more into it if I had even the faintest hope the Cubs would score a single run.
  7. If they had, there would be a lot more errors and gaffes. There's still time, I guess.
  8. It wouldn't be much of a fire sale, more like getting something for players you won't retain anyway while there's a market. The Cubs would probably need to eat some of Derrek's remaining salary, but getting something for him would be a plus. Finding a taker for Lilly would be easy. Nady could net something. No one would want him, but getting something for Theriot would be nice. Soriano, Ramirez and Z aren't going anywhere, because they are nigh immovable. I guess I'd keep Soto, Marmol, Cashner, Colvin, Castro, Gorzelanny, Marshall, Byrd and see what we could get for any of the remainder.
  9. I try not to care, but this [expletive] will never cease to eat at me. Especially against the freaking pale hosers.
  10. That's why I didn't understand why people were making such a big deal about it. Yeah, it's really unobtrusive. A lot of people just like being sanctimonious about not altering such a "historic" site. As long as it isn't a total eyesore, I say if anyone wants to give the team their money for stuff like this, let them.
  11. Well, that's irrational. No offense.
  12. Honest question JR, would care about this at all if it were a GM sign and not Toyota?
  13. Should happen, won't happen. It's time to start thinking about selling. Agreed. But I fear Hendry becoming a buyer out of desperation to keep his job. I'd totally start selling now, though. Nobody is untouchable for the right price. I'm not saying that we'll have a lot of takers for a lot of our players, but this current roster isn't winning and isn't going to win. A couple more weeks of this and there will be no justification to buy.
  14. Should happen, won't happen. It's time to start thinking about selling. Selling? Players. Lee, Lilly, etc.
