  1. Oh give me a break Davis you turd. Pitch the damn ball.
  2. I find it refreshing to take an entire cup of soda and just throw it on myself. Nothing fishy about that at all.
  3. Phils lose. Not getting in to Grand Slam range will do that to you.
  4. Why do I get the feeling that tonight's umps K-zone will not only be inconsistent, but will more often than not give Davis "on the black" calls on the outside corner, that will in all actuality be OFF the black. A guy like Davis will probably need that outside corner to survive. I would say whether the umps give it to him will play a very large role in the outcome of this baseball game. DON'T GIVE IT TO HIM, UMPIOT!
  5. I don't want Philly and their ridiculous "fans" to get anywhere near the World Series. Plus, seeing the Phils die a quick, easy death just twists the dagger in the Mets' dead corpse.
  6. You're a negative neggie.
  7. Hahah. Hopefully this holds up, because then the Mets can know that not only did they collapse, but they gave it up to a team that was then summarily dismissed in the first round. Friggin' PERFECT
  8. Cubs: you're starting to freak me out a little bit. Stop that. Thank you.
  9. in fairness, it wasn't just a red light. he picked nevin out as one guy most likely to suffer a major injury and miss most or all of the season, and nevin was hurt a few days later. He separated his shoulder diving for a ball in the OF, unless Carroll had some sort of info leading him to think Nevin had a shoulder that couldn't handle diving on it, I'm not buying it. Nevermind the fact that he's crowing about something he predicted 4 years ago as evidence of don't you dare question the almighty Will I agree that Carroll is too pompous for his own (or anyone's) good, and that it's silly to still be bragging about this prediction. However, it was a pretty impressive call. Here's his quote -- And he did cite his shoulder as the body part to be feared. Link Alright that's admittedly pretty good. My whole deal is if BP will allow Carrol to gloat on their dime then they should demand Silver eat his crow. Alright -- perhaps not unless the Cubs lose another game in the series. I'll bet there won't be a word if we lose another game, though. Doesn't it look petty to anyone else that you allow gloating on one hand, but then ignore when you're wrong on the other?? Maybe I'm all alone on this, fine. It just rubs me the wrong way. It really does.
  10. I'll never understand why some ballplayers are so obtuse that they don't adjust to the particular pitching style they are facing that day. Are they just not intelligent? They must not be. A normal person would think "Hrmm, every time I try to pull that outside pitch, I make an easy out. I should quit doing that." A major leaguer thinks "Hrmmm.... I should just keep doing this. I'll be able to pull it eventually!" Whatever happened to just hitting the ball hard and not trying to place it? They probably think: if I let this guy pull me out of "my game", then I'll lose my lucky stance and be screwed up for weeks.
  11. Agreed, seemed everybody new he was going to be pulled. I respect "Z" bat as a pitcher, but a ph mentality was needed, it was a bit of a pressure situation for a pitcher. I'll go with that. Although Z actually hit the ball fairly well. It's not like he put up a bad AB. Bah, I'm just going to say you score 1 run in 9 innings you aren't going to win many of those games. Z had 3 AB's. The first was a double; the second was a line out to the SS with Theriot on 2nd (should have bunted); the third was a strikeout with the bases loaded (top of the 6th). And actually, Z looked pretty bad on that last AB. I know, but he did hit the ball pretty hard there. I'm really not arguing that it would have been good to PH. I don't know what I'm saying -- give me a break I'm upset right now  I really don't think you go with a PH there. Z had only pitched 5 innings with a low pitch count. However, he probably should have kept him in one more inning. It was a tough call and I'm glad Lou gets paid to make those decisions. True. If we can just win tonight the sky will look a heck of a lot brighter. I'm kind of in a holding pattern until 9pm tonight. So win tonight, Cubs.
  12. Dear Cubs: please win tonight so we can be happy tomorrow. thx much.

  15. It was Nate Silver... Oh, and in the actual article he said that the most probable outcome was Cubs in 4, losing game one. He just said "F it" and went with the sweep prediction for the hell of it. OK, Nate Silver then. As an organization though, if you're going to have one writer put out "high-horse" crap that basically slams a fan base, then shouldn't you be willing on the other side to admit mistakes when they are made, especially if it was based not on the numbers and stats you are known for, but a "F-it" decision (i.e. not in character) -? I just think when you're going to go down that road you need to be willing to be humble when it comes down the other way. Far be it for me to defend White Sox fans, and I thought Will's article was funny, but it's kind of B.S. when you ignore your failings (again, as an organization) if you're going to do that.
  16. I see you're going out on a limb there.. Head: we can still take this thing. Heart: pressure of losing game one, criticism of Marmol decision, Cubbie doom.
  17. ....prime foul ball territory, especially when lefties are up.
  18. Why? They aren't that good. That may be true, but this is a no contest on paper. I still don't understand how people could have possibly thought things like this before last night. Me either, and the fact that it came from BP makes me want to re-evaluate their credibility. It was a stupid prediction from the very beginning and should never have been entertained, much less by BP.
  19. So is Will Carrol going to put out an article today apologizing to all Cub fans for being wrong? Just wondering. I'm guessing not.
  20. I'll go combo of both. I knew we'd struggle a bit against Webb but I hoped we would get into the BP and scratch out a couple there. We gave up 3 runs in 9 innings last night, I know the Marmol home run hurts believe me I let out a blood curdling scream -- but 3 in 9 isn't a collapse of pitching, especially when I'm watching the Cubs not get runners in scoring position home in many of our chances. Combo of both. Webb was fairly good, pitched to his situation -- and we didn't put the good ABs together when we needed to.
  21. I'll reserve judgement until after tonight. It's very simple to me now: 1) Win tonight, home field switches back to us and thus the advantage. 2) Lose tonight, we'd have to win 3 in a row including once against Webb so the DBacks have the strong advantage.
  22. Zambrano was on auto-pilot, there was no reason to pull him. You don't pull a starter that YOU KNOW is dominant AT THAT TIME, even if it's for your best reliever. You don't know whether Marmol has his stuff or not that night, but you KNOW Zambrano does. Ok, I understand what you're saying and we can debate that. But to say that Lou was trying to lose or concede the game, that's just plain assinine. Lou was absolutely playing for Game 4 by taking him out at 85 pitches. How about we try to win one first? Excellent idea. How about we score some runs in order to win the game?
  23. Someone pull Theriot aside and remind him this isn't some reg season game in July. Need to put together big league ABs each and every time, son.
