  1. Wow overpursuit by Hawk, Giants about to win.
  2. If there was ever a time Green Bay needed a huge stop, it's right now.
  3. Cue the "Green Bay shuts down on Sunday, you couldn't get a contractor right now" joke Three times, huh? It's so cold even the computers are stuttering.
  4. Eli has just entirely too much time to throw.
  5. Yeah. "Keep it goin' G-Men!!" How did they get in the building? 8-)
  6. Super Bowl on the line, and two guys can't recover the football. If I was a Packer fan, I'd be needing a contracter to come over and repair a wall right now.
  7. Though I'm sure there were some discussions and trade possibilities bandied back and forth, the idea that a Roberts deal was ever really close to being finalized appears to have been nothing more than a figment of OH's imagination.
  8. Ohman's junk. This guy is young and developing. I like this move.

    The NBA thread

...and after leading for the entire game, the Bulls are now down to the Warriors by 4 with 3min left. YOU SUCK, BOLLS.
  10. Very descriptive blogger with a lot of information versus this post with two sentences. Unless you have anything to back up your claim, I'm gonna go ahead and continue to assume that it's true. Some of the people on BCB are claiming that the modus operandi @ HJE is to "make things up." I'm just confused. I'd like to believe behind it all that Hendry is a free-cursing regular guy who has thought many of the things we all think but just doesn't say them in the media. But it *is* a blog....
  11. I was fatigued with this thread, but now I think I'm catching my 2nd wind. Let's go for 150 pages by Monday!!
  12. Heck no! You crazy? Now we can trade Hill for another free swinger and move Dempster up to the 3. After reading your post all I could think of is Hendry dressed like Austin Powers, walking down a street looking for free swingers. nice visual.

What's Kwame's salary? I'd be interested in dumping Wallace on the Lakers just to rid ourselves of his horrible contract.
  14. Is it OK to be lukewarm on the guy? I've never had a deep-seeded hatred of him, he's done some good things and then turned around and done some ridiculous things too. I doubt the owners would have a hot, young, irreverent commish in any case. If a change was made, we'd probably just get another Selig anyway. More or less.
  15. Oh we'll get Roberts. There's no doubt. We'll get him in 2012 after he's well past his prime and we can overpay for lack of production.
  16. Heck no! You crazy? Now we can trade Hill for another free swinger and move Dempster up to the 3.
  17. Disappointed. Where were the questions about why he hasn't upgrade SS? Why on earth would anyone declare Ryan Dempster a starter for '08 in Nov '07? ??
  18. I am reserving judgment on this point until the end of the offseason. If Marquis and/or Dempster are traded, then there could still be a slot for Gallagher. Why? We're hearing Dempster being talked about, now Lieber is signed, Marquis is still up in the air. Still pretty quiet about the rooks. I'm hoping that that both Seans and Kevin have been told privately that their hard work over the off-season (hopefully Marshall getting stronger and Gallagher cont. his off-season conditioning) can be rewarded with a verbal commit. from the Cubs that they'll be given a shot. I have a suspicion that the talk of Dempster to the rotation was simply to drive up his trade value. I have no tangible reason to think this, but I don't think there was ever any real intent to give Ryan a slot. As for Marquis, it may just be wishful thinking. But Lou seemed awfully put out with him at the end of the season, so there may be some impetus to move him out. Also, if any trades happen, I think one or two of Marshall, Gallagher and Hart will likely be moving out, cutting down the number of slighted youngsters. I can only hope Gallagher would be the one left. Completely agree. Yeah, that would seem to make more sense than the Cubs declaring Dempster a starter in freaking November. I'm still scratching my head over that, nobody does something so silly with half a damn year before Spring Training starts.
  19. He won't, count on it. It'll be the same blah blah, maybe North will be in one of his moods and go off on him.
  20. When they toss Marquis/Lieber/Dempster out there and they get clobbered, Lou will throw Gallagher and Marshall into the mix and they'll get their shot. ...provided they are still here. I don't worry about Lou giving a young guy a shot. Maybe he'll come out of camp with the vets, but he'll make a change. He's shown that he will do that.
  21. Teams don't just swap rotational pitchers very often. What's the point? You're getting back what you traded. Look, the Orioles are going nowhere. Even they must be smart enough to see that. If they want to trade solid vets for prospects, then that's one thing. Expecting to swap starters is stupid, and wouldn't likely even help either team anyway. I think it's time to move on, gentlemen.
  22. On the other hand, if this is Hendry's idea of a solution for the back of our rotation...
  23. It seems a bit desperate to hope he'll be good, at this age with his injury last year and all the wear on his arm.
  24. No need to get too sophisticated with this: He'll likely suck.
  25. ....because they see "Manning" on his jersey and they're irrational fans like almost everyone else. They're from New York, so they wield the biggest press pressure-cooker on the planet unlike other cities. Someone from Jacksonville who thought Leftwich would be the next great thing can voice his disappointment all he wants and few care -- even if he's in the media. New Yorkers bring to bear this media machine that is off the rails intense.
