  1. Oh, I certainly hope this doesn't result in a DP. Ward is very susceptible, of course.
  2. He's very well spoken. I imagine a career in broadcasting is there for him after he's done, if he wants it.
  3. I dunno man, I think I'm ready to move on from the Benson era. But if he somehow comes in and blows everyone away it certainly wouldn't hurt him. We'll see.
  4. If D'Antoni holds a press conference and tries to say it isn't about the money, I'll probably throw up a little in my mouth.
  5. Yeah, why give some new guy a shot when you can rehash a coach that has failed somewhere else. I mean, if someone has had a head coaching job and been fired he automatically must be better than a guy that has put in the time as an assistant and hasn't gotten an opportunity yet to prove himself. I never said he would automatically be better. But hey, why miss an opportunity to prove how witty and sarcastic you can be?
  6. I remember seeing this play and thinking "this guy doesn't belong in the NFL." And now he's a Bear. Joy. I forsee much consternation from Bear fans over Lloyd. There is a decent chance he won't even make the team. I would say there is more then 60% chances of him not making the team. I expect in mini-camp that guys like Bennett/Monk/Hester/Hass/Rideau should all out play him. (Davis and Booker---based on contracts---are guarantee spots) When your best trait as a player is that "you know the system", that doesn't bode well at all. Lloyd, IMO, is a training camp body, nothing more/nothing less. I hope so. I'd rather give those "TC fodder" positions to young players who might have some prayer of an upside in the future, but no matter. I'm also not a big fan of these "re-unite the coach & player" moves. I don't see any evidence that an otherwise poor player will somehow contribute just because he knew the coach a long time ago, yet these sorts of moves remain popular.
  7. It's just a ritual here. Every time Marmol pitches, everybody screams ZOMG HE IS BEING OVERUSED HIS ARM WILL FALL OFF ZOMG ZOMG. It's pretty amusing. Most realize he's going to be needed for the stretch run too, not just in April/May/June. If Marmol wears down, it's not difficult to forsee a full-out collapse of the bullpen, so people get very prickly about his use. Except Lou, that is. Lou is obviously not concerned in the least. My concern is more that this was a great opportunity to give some of the long relievers some work, and that opportunity was missed. Not ideal.
  8. Well now I'm starting to hear disturbing talk that the Bulls might simply pluck some assistant from somewhere and make him the coach. Terrible, if that indeed happens. Unless it's some kind of phenom, which seems unlikely.
  9. You mean Wisconsin is airing the Brewers instead of the Cubs? bastards. Thats what you people get for living in that awful state. We're working on legislation to extend the Illinois border north and evict all the Packer & Brewer fans. This ruined my plans to get some house chores done while enjoying the Cubs game. Now what? It's cloudy today too. BAH!
  10. I remember seeing this play and thinking "this guy doesn't belong in the NFL." And now he's a Bear. Joy. I forsee much consternation from Bear fans over Lloyd.
  11. Blah this game isn't on TV in Madison because FOX is going to show the Cards/Crew game. And with the exclusivity agreement, it's not on MLB EI either. YOU SUCK.
  12. Now would be a good time to stop playing bad beisbol.
  13. Certainly much better than, say, Boylan.
  14. ARE YOU NUTS? We'll be lucky to not get swept by AZ... I'll consider us very lucky to just take one game, certainly. It's probably sweep city the way this club is playing.
  15. Let's take a step back. Avery wouldn't be a disaster by any means. I say don't give in. If D'Antoni really wants to take the $$$$ and go to NY, then let him. He's no dummy though, he knows full well it'll be awhile before he can turn that thing around. Maybe he really wants the challenge, I dunno 8-) It *would* be a really nice payday, and he doesn't have to deal with Isaiah anymore, so maybe he goes. Then if we sign Avery --- I don't see that as a problem. I only see an issue if we wind up getting some inexperienced cheapie coach who everyone knows will be overmatched. Seems like the candidates are out there right now, so I'm not really worried.
  16. They aren't slowing down. They're gonna just keep going, and with that roster too. Someone wake me from this nightmare.
  17. I'm comfortable with D'Antoni for now. At least he has good experience dealing with superstar players like Nash. If this is true, then the next step would be for Pax to actually acquire the freaking superstar.
  18. Time to start stringing together a few wins now. LET'S GO!
  19. You don't want Dunn coming up with 2 on. Just saying it out loud.
  20. Still think they're gonna cool down? I think they are winning 105-110 again. After all they had the one year out of the playoffs this decade. yeah, they're the Cards. They exist to blow all logic & reason to kingdom come. Otherwise I'd be the first to say they'll cool down. As it stands, I'm not so sure they don't just keep going against all laws of the known universe.
  21. Hey give the big man a break, he's tryin' Well OK he isn't, but uh..
  22. Yes there is reason. Those guys should have used up a decades worth of goodluck winning it all in '06. Yet, here we are. They kinda had that one coming for all the years they were legit good and lost in the playoffs, I figure. That's crap. It is supposed to be hard. Good teams lose in the playoffs. A team like there's was a joke. Well, once in the playoffs, anything can happen. This years Cards team has no business in the playoffs. If all their journeyman scrubs continue to play out of their minds the whole year, then the Cubs should just blow up Wrigley and give up. Knowing the Cards that's exactly what will happen. Then they'll release half of them and they'll all suck wherever they go.
