    There's a reason a Bruce Bochy goes from WS titles in SF to another WS title in his first year managing a team that had won 60 games in 2021 and 68 in 2022. Not all of that is going to be on the field tactical decisions. But there's got to be much more to it than that, whether that's because it signals a team is ready to "go for it," or the manager is able to bring in better people around him, or whatever else. I can't come up with a definitive list, but it obviously matters. This is a freaking great hire and I'm stoked about it.

    I think you are making some good points and it's probably a little of both. There's got to be some disappointment with having given Ross some players, they turn it on in the 2nd half, then tank out into super-disappointment-land at the end. Not all his fault but some of it was, and then here comes Counsell and the Cubs say let's move on. Put it all together and I'm a happy Chicago sports fan. I got up this morning bemoaning another long cold Winter. Heck of a game changer.

    The September collapse this year was epic. That's on Ross. Managers definitely get canned for that.

    I have to believe Counsell would not agree to this without assurances from ownership that they're going to spend. Would he?

    Hahahah. Great thread title. I’m sure the Bears will win this handily, for Poles has said they’re very close to turning it around now and I trust him. Major winning is just around the corner.

    I won’t be able to watch this game. Can’t believe I used to pay DirecTV that much money to be miserable.

    He says he’s confident he can get one done. We’ll see. I don’t know why he wouldn’t test the waters rather than sign here before he even gets the chance. I guess Poles could franchise him?

    What the holy hell is going on at Halas hall.... Now it's beyond incompetence. By the way, Raiders just moved on from both McDaniels and their GM, mid-season. They have a better record than the Bears.

    Now would be the perfect time to clean house, get rid of Poles and Eberflus. We’d be able to have a clean slate with the new regime being well positioned to acquire their QB from the beginning. We’ve been in this maddening scenario where there’s a key holdover that the new leadership has to deal with. Instead, here’s what will happen: Poles sucks so he will fail at hiring a new HC and will blow the QB draft. A couple years will go by while we “find out” whether this blown pick will succeed. He won’t, so HC and Poles will be fired, but the QB will stay and hamstring the next Front Office. Deja Vu all over again
