I thought I saw an interview today where someone from the selection committee said neither SEC team looked clearly better than the others.
But that sounds like something you say before you really have to make a tough call on it.
Watching FSU, they don’t belong in the CFP over either Bama or Georgia. They aren’t playing the same level of football as the top SEC teams.
Could put Bama in over FSU regardless of whether they win, especially if it’s a close game. Because Bama is just a better team and it’s not fair but a huge fan base wants an SEC team in there.
Michigan will win.
If FSU wins then it’s Mich, Was, FSU, and Texas.
No SEC. To me that’s incredible. Everyone should know that the SEC teams are likely better than FSU and Texas at least.
What a game. And if the dogs don’t come back it will mean chaos for the selection committee.
So I thought there’s no way I would ever root for Saban. I’m pretty close right now.
The Bears traded up for Trubisky with Mahomes still on the board. Panthers traded up for Bryce Young with Stroud still on the board.
Trading up to take a QB requires that the FO can identify the right QB to trade up for. The Bears inspire zero confidence they can do that. They should not trade up for QB.
FWIW, I don't think it's going to take that much of a miracle run to push the Bears towards giving Fields another year. This organization has a long history of convincing itself that mediocrity is an indicator of future success. They'll hang on to a few great plays by Fields (such as last week) and minimize the many mistakes.
Are those all recent? I'm having difficulty with the Fields one the most. Maybe I'm just way out of step on that. Quite possible. Turnovers make my skin crawl. I've got to acknowledge the positive things he's done too.
Yep. Not sure what else to add to this other than throwing a skunk on the table. I fully expect them to let Poles draft the next QB and at the very least he gets to stay, with potentially Eberfail as well.
As bad as it is the Panthers have to get some weapons around him before any declarations can be made. He looks terrible obviously. I don't know if they can assemble a supporting cast in time, before he's beyond recovering from a confidence / habits perspective.
Bears are one of the worst in turnover margin (-6), and rank out really low in both giveaways and takeaways. They just don't cause enough chaos. I would love to see a lot of turnovers but it hasn't been the D's forte. I know they did much more on Sunday but it wasn't typical at all.
I think this is a really good test of a few things. Is the OLine really getting better or is it kind of a mirage. Is the secondary with starters back really pretty good, or was it just the Panthers. Is Fields really going to look much better with what appears to be better protection than he had earlier in the season.
I don't think the Bears have to win to answer some of these questions. I don't think they will win. And they're going to have to score well over 20 points to make it close.
