  1. Why? They've already been planning to rest him in & out. Why just cut off a guy who can give good starts, even if he can't give as many as you had hoped?
  2. Any way to unload all the salaries except Rose, then hire the Globetrotters until 2010?
  3. Haha, that writer just couldn't resist the cheesy dig at Soriano at the end. What a tard.
  4. What does the amount he paid have to do with his commitment to winning? Nothing. Too many people still equate size of payroll to commitment to winning. It's become kind of an outmoded idea, but one that lots of people still carry around. I guess watching lower payroll teams have success regularly just doesn't register.
  5. You've got to believe that even if there was a deal in place, it will be re-evaluated in light of current economic developments, the new ownership, etc. etc.
  6. He still put up some decent offensive numbers, even without the O-line being strong. He throws a lot of picks, but throws for a lot of yards too. he never had much of a running game, either, did he? Nope. I think he really kinda got a raw deal...franchise QB on an expansion team (lot of hope for success there huh?), and then takes the fall when the team begins to figure itself out. Even if he's not a Bear (doubt he will be), I'm rooting for the guy. He definitely didn't have much to work with in Texas. I'd pick him up. The only trouble is he wouldn't have much to work with in Chicago either, at least in the short term.
  7. Yeah. Gone are the days because our owner insisted on hiring a joke for a coach over the objection of anyone who had a brain, and our GM can't draft worth a crap and can't pull the trigger on a deal when his players have some value.
  8. Since nobody has mentioned it yet, I'd like to call out how cold and miserable the April games will be.
  9. If I tried to hit at the MLB level, the luckiest thing that could happen would be for the first 3 pitches to be strikes so I would be gone quickly with no further chance of embarrassing myself.
  10. He OPS+'d at 34 last year   Even if you just take his dropoff from from '06 to '07, it's unbelievable. Buy low baby! ;)
  11. There were some wow moments by Tyrus last night, against arguably the best player in the league. I think even LeBron was shocked by that block late in the game. An unexpected good win last night. Fun to watch.
  12. I don't see anything. I see a guy who is being honest about a disagreement and logically & calmly explaining the basis of that disagreement. He also mentioned he wishes Sanchez well. There's nothing here worth noting, in my view. I think it's absurd that he's talking about him coming out early and going against the NFL's wishes. He's passing on his 5th year of eligibility, is he not? This isn't Maurice Clarett. Leinert stayed forever and that didn't seem to help him at all. He's whining about a kid going pro while standing in front of a sponsors logo. It's true, Leinart stayed and he's still sitting the bench. It just sounded like that writer was saying Carrol's pouting like a child. I don't see that. I guess I can understand this isn't the time or place for those comments.

  14. His receiving put him over the top, which makes sense.
  15. You know those California kids. Nothing but trouble.
  16. That's what I was thinking when I saw this thread too. I wonder if Lo Duca and Bradley would clash. They already have in the past, during an interleague series between the Dodgers and Indians.
  17. I'd like to see the size of the table that would hold the largest bid.
  18. thank you...that is exactly my viewpoint.. Bah, you Minnesotans are comfortable with general douchy-ness anyway
  19. I pray for an owner who will actually help the Cubs win, and not treat the Cubs as merely an asset to be milked. I'm not sure I can pinpoint one of these guys as being "the one" who will definitely do that above all others. Cuban was my first choice because I've seen him actually turn a pro franchise around. Not that we need a total turnaround.
  20. I've recieved vastly more support for that dicision then ill feelings (the only ill feelings to date being gooney). It isnt uncommon, in my field, for things like that to happen, and it happens for a variety of reasons. I understand the ill feelings towards him (as a Bears fan, and wanting good coaches), but the reality is that nothing is garaunteed. Accpeting a position is far from the chivalry "giving them my word" bs. I'm not going to dig into you too much because I really don't know all the details. And it really doesn't matter what I think anyway ;) Maybe it's just where I work. People (especially my customer contacts) really keep tracking of what is said, how it is portrayed, etc etc. Maintaining consistency of message versus results is ultra-important. When we stray from that, we tend to get into alot of trouble. And it's not always easy to keep track of. I always have to be mindful of what I said, what I promised -- what is going to actually happen.
  21. So you're saying you go back on your word to someone because something that suits you more comes along? You don't think there's anything wrong with that? Where I work that could get my company sued.
  22. Well that's odd. Why would you accept a position just to interview for another? Security. If he interviews, fire him. Take a page from BC's book.
  23. He also said he wanted to look Tommie right in the eye so he could "see how bad he wants it." I don't know about the rest of you, but that sounds kind of ominous to me.
  24. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-tue-cubs-01-13jan13,0,2381060.story Bet that Cuban sneaks back in? He left the door open on his blog. Delay tactics are only going to work for the Trib for so long. That bankruptcy judge is going to come calling, they need to close this thing soon. It's too bad it had to go down during a horrible recession, but nothing can be done about that now.
