  1. Please can we just fire this man. Just put Harris or Bickerstaff in there for the rest of the year. What the hell would it matter anyway? The man is like Nero playing his violin as Rome burns around him. I don't even care anymore what a huge mistake it was to hire him. I just don't want to see Vinny Del freaking Negro up there making a mockery of this team and the head coaching position anymore. Come on. There's little doubt he isn't even really running the team anyway. End this. For the good of everyone, even Vinny. End it.
  2. i hate him more with every new video of him i see. Yeah but at a certain point the hatred becomes funny.
  3. He's growing on me. I have to admit, I get a chuckle out of him.
  4. I think his conditioning is certainly an issue, but it can't be the only thing. He has to have some sort of mechanical flaw going on in his swing, whether it's hands, feet, arms, hitches, too much crouching, etc. I find it pretty crazy that since it's clear that he has lost something/needs fixing he is unwilling to try and change something in his swing. I mean he put up a .158/.256/.249 in 209 ab's and had 76 K's and only 3 HR. Assuming there are no injuries those are numbers that warrant some type of change in swing or approach, what's he scared of changing? It's not like if he changed something in his swing and batted .100 it would be a drastic fall off from last season. There are fat guys who can hit. But Jones got fat, then stopped hitting. It probably indicates he really just doesn't care anymore.
  5. Yeah, I agree but I think they are assuming he's going to get fatter and crappier as the contract gets fatter with it being backloaded. But yeah at the moment I think he's more than justified the dollars. They've been saying that for 5 years. Same thing about Albert Pujols and his annual mysterious performance threatening injuries Yeah. I like Carlos.
  6. He'll be rotated into Lake Michigan.
  7. Yeah. Can he still pitch though? That's the question. Nobody wants a blowhard who sucks. One that gets guys out though? Buy a pair of earplugs and pretend you're listening to every word.
  8. Bad for us. Looks like another 1st round exit. :bye: Come on. You're right, it'll be another first round exit because we're the Cubs, not because of Manny. Don't forget, Manny has to decide he actually wants to play baseball for an entire season in LA. That's yet to be determined, regardless of the contract he signs  Gonna be a bit different dynamic going on when he comes in late to Spring Training and plays through April, May, and June rather than just coming in quick in August & September as the savior.
  9. that's what i was going to say. phillips is a tool, but the "i've lost all respect for him" stuff was kind of dumb. All you have to do is happen to have ESPN on when they decide to put a piece with Phillips on the air. I don't necessarily think it involves Lou spending extra effort just to pay attention to Phillips.
  10. True. Doesn't help when you pull the chain every time your team wins something too. Kind of kills the excitement for next year, which is when you can traditionally expect to rake.
  11. Well, maybe he's ready to put in one more quality season before heading off into the sunset.
  12. I'm sure it's a factor. I'm also sure it's not the only one. Here's the only thing I do know: they've had enough time to get that thing right. If they build another turkey of a stadium and it winds up empty, I'll bet the Marlins' days in Miami are numbered.
  13. The whole Cutler thing is pretty funny. Denver's acting like it's an easy thing to identify a franchise-level QB, yet they themselves haven't had one since Elway until Cutler came along. Sure, let's just dump him. Doesn't get along well with our new coach. God would I love to fleece them of Cutler. Won't happen though.
  14. I would be so happy for Jay Cutler to become our QB. So happy. And I love Sharper too even though he's quite up there in age. Do you love Sharper as he was 5 years ago, or now? Do you remember that play this year where one of our slow-ass WRs made him look like he was standing still? 'Cuz that's Sharper now.
  15. I think the point is, that's the level of attendance they had during an actual game. I mean, they're playing baseball in that photo folks.
  16. Hes a starting 1b on a non-playoff team and a very good #1 PH off the bench/back up 1b on a playoff team agreed, that's how i view him. actually he probably doesn't project to be much worse than lee over the next three years so if we could find someone dumb enough to take lee off our hands at full price, i'd be all for it. That's exactly it. And I hate thinking it, because I've been duped by the Dave Keltons of the Cubs past, but I really can't see Hoffpauir being THAT much worse than Lee over the next few years. Agreed, and Hoff is a fantastic defender as well. I know it's only ST but I'm starting to get my hopes up for Hoff too. Just remove his age from the equation -- is it really that difficult to imagine a guy who destroyed the ball consistently at AAA last year being decently productive at the MLB level?
  17. Hehe, "Rondell White" is one of the first names that popped into my mind when we acquired Bradley. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.
  18. If people think Mike Brown had begun to slow down, wait until they get a look at Sharper. I would rather go with someone young & hungry. Plus....Darren's one of those jerks I've always wanted to see get decked. As for Cutler, I'd love to have him but I'm finding it hard to believe Denver is actually going to trade away their best shot since Elway to have a franchise QB just because the coach is having trouble getting along with him. You sit them both down in a room and suggest very strongly that they grow up and learn to work with each other.
  19. Apparently it's a fracture and he could miss the rest of the season. http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=11784 I agree with CCF, it's amazing how far Lu has fallen. I don't think this team will suffer in any way by not having Deng around.
  20. Yeah, I think Huet's just a hot/cold kind of goalie, and right now he's in a cold streak.
  21. For one thing, spending all that time among Cardinals fans will likely rot your brain.
  22. So apparently the May 8,9,10 Cub games in Milwaukee were almost sold out in their pre-sales, there's pretty much nothing left for single game tix today. That kinda sucks.
  23. I know what you mean but I hate when teams draw in their attack to try to preserve points. Then if they score anyway it was all for nothing.
  24. Whew, I was about to lose it.
