  1. Even if he's not...even if it's a facade....big freaking whoop. I'd rather him be a nice guy faking a bit of humility than some douchebag. Seems like if you have to rip on him for "bragging about humbleness" you're realllllly looking for something. I just always think it's ironic when people praise their own modesty or humility. And most of my annoyance with the Rose humility narrative stems more from the media, who play it up an awful lot. Eh...there's tons of reasons to dislike media narratives. As far as those go, this is pretty tame. They could go back to "Jay Cutler is a [expletive]" if you want. Give them a little time. They'll get back around to that storyline soon enough.
  2. i am really excited by the prospect of one of these guys coming back and not having to forfeit every fifth game by starting russell. Pretty much what I'm looking forward to as well. The experiment is getting pretty tiring at this point. Watching Cub outfielders turn and run wildly after another of his mistakes is getting a tad tiring, agreed.
  3. But they can't read. How would they know what they're looking at? Audio Book with commentary from "Hawk" Harrelson, Steve Stone, and Marty Brennaman. Do they make those in 8-track format? Special edition, collector's item.
  4. The good news is, if they can force a sale of the team, it will probably turn around for them fairly quickly.
  5. Wait, so because MJ was not humble, that means that if DRose is humble it's somehow a fault? Yup. You're either exactly like MJ, or something is wrong.
  6. I'm just saying...its the easiest part of the schedule right now. Doesn't mean we're doomed or anything moving forward. If we are mediocre against the bad teams are are playing now, we'll have to play better to make the playoffs. Playoffs?.......PLAYOFFS? Don't talk about.........Playoffs?!?
  7. I'm just really ready for the weather to not be this terrible anymore. Not just for baseball. I'm done with winter. No more sleet-snow, thx.
  8. I'll bet that book sells well among Sox fans.
  9. Yeah, especially with the labor issues. What would you prefer: traveling to London to play that game, or traveling to Tampa, thereby giving the Bucs a real home game? I'm not sure. Often there's something in the schedule that seems worse than it turns out to be. A good example of this is 2006, where the Bears had 3 road games in a row. Up until that time, I believe no team had a 3 road game stretch and made it to the Super Bowl (either that, or only a couple teams did it). The Bears did well in those games, and made the Super Bowl. So it's always something. We can beat these teams -- just like we always do when we're playing well. Good pressure up front, smother on defense, no missed tackles, punch the ball out. That's the formula. When we do those things, we surprise a heck of a lot of people.
  10. Incredible. Apparently McCourt needed a $30 million loan to make payroll *last week*
  11. Well, darn. Stevens isn't fooling anyone.
  12. Right. I take heart for next year too, watching an effort like that. This team still has a little bit of that "it" and they can get it back. It felt a lot like a game from last year. We actually made scoring look easy for a night. It was fun to see. Also, Luongo's response to the media was Canuck-patented snotty and defensive. I do find their attitude towards things to be hilarious -- makes it more fun to watch them lose :) But I'm keeping all that stuff in my back pocket for now, because they're going to win this time around. Right now I'm trying to decide who would be more fun to watch lose. Red Wings or Canucks.
  13. Dude, we have Starlin Castro. Yeah that's why Lee was tradeable, but on an intuitive level I was pretty high on Lee. He's a pretty impressive player. Right. It was for a young, quality starter though. I'm OK with it.
  14. OK, but I also liken it to a football player celebrating a sack being down 35-3 in the 4th quarter.
  15. Seriously? You're declaring the outcome of games in April?
  16. Yeah, they've had a few playoff games on that channel. I'm guessing most people aren't able to watch them, similar to what happens when the NFL airs a game on the NFL network.
  17. Yeah, give 'em one more shot in the chops for good measure boys.
  18. Pretend its game 3 We win this one I'll be much more pumped for the next one. This games just kind of meh to me. That 2nd goal still brought me to my feet. Shades of last year, *sigh*
  19. I don't want them trying to play in this kind of crap anyway. Let's play two!
  20. It looks tough. The NFL has a way of turning out different than expected though. I think I'd rather face NO, GB early. I feel like there's a decent chance those teams will start slow. Of course, there's a decent chance we will start slow too.
  21. Really? It was deflected twice and ended up in the upper corner of the net. Yeah I'm an idiot. I should have edited that post once I saw the replay before someone called me out on it. It looked like a softie at first glance. You're forgiven :)
  22. Yeah. Scored one! Oh crap, just gave it back. That's this season in a nutshell.
  23. yeah, the bulls were the only ones trying in the regular season, that must be it. Yeah, that argument is always an interesting one. I'm also not sure what the argument against the Skiles Bulls is supposed to be. Those teams weren't all that good, and predictably only advanced marginally in the playoffs. They did pretty much exactly what they should have done.
  24. Surely going from a job in one of the most heralded baseball cities like Chicago, to a lesser baseball town like Atlanta, is a lateral move at best -- probably more like a move slightly downwards. But I nitpick.
  25. It really seems like they're coasting, which I never thought I'd see from this team. It also goes back a good 3-4 weeks, aside from the Atlanta and Boston games. And yet they're 16-1 in the stretch, so I'm not sure what to be upset about. Maybe they know what they're doing, saving energy for later in the playoffs. I can only hope that's the case.
