the phrasing I seem to recall is he did everything well, except for trouble making contact, which Cubs people insisted they could fix. and so far, nope. not fixed.

I don't buy it will happen. If it does, naturally I'll give Hub credit for calling it out early. I just don't think it's all that valuable to make full roster predictions this early in camp. It really can't be anything other than guesswork, barring some kind of injury insight.

I'll give Hub full marks if Williams doesn't make the roster. People tend to forget these early camp remarks, and in my estimation Hub has had more than his share over the years. Let's just wait until camp & preseason develops, then make judgements about players.

Usain Bolt is just unhuman. wow. no way either of them is clean I don't know enough about Bolt or the sport to really make a judgement. I did see a puff piece on Bolt yesterday, which essentially said he used to be a middle-of-the-pack runner until he decided to focus more and become more determined. That's one heck of a jump in focus and determination if true.

I thought Hendry had it in '03. I really did. And I was convinced during the '03/'04 offseason that he was going to get it done. Now, I know he wasn't a particularly good GM, but back then I was very excited. I harbor no ill will towards him. No question he's the wrong man for the job now.
