not only that, but the guy that gets mauled gets called for a penalty. someone is [expletive] bought and sold. How do the rules not say that play in progress continues there? It's completely away from the play, regardless of what is called??

I counted roughly 10 seconds of actual power play puck control in their zone. LOL, wow.

At least Hossa & Sharp showed up in the last couple minutes, holy [expletive] hell. It's like they decided to suck at the absolute worst time, for 6 minutes.

But they've only played one game 7. 2-1 at "forcing game 7's" and 0-1 at winning them. Wait, how have they forced 2 game 7's but have an 0-1 record in them? Or am I missing something? 2-1 forcing game 7s includes Monday's game. 0-1 in game 7s does not included tonight's game. They've only played one game 7 in recent years, and lost. Tonight it's time to balance the ledger.

I think if you read my entire post you would notice that I ended by saying that Howard played the PS terribly...but oh well. I also did not say the Wings lost because of PS. I just explained why I thought it was a bad call. I'm just expecting you to be completely pissed right now, at the Wings. Without equivocation. Because if the Hawks had blown a 3-1 lead to go to a game 7 in Detroit, I'd be really angry at them. I wouldn't even be talking about a ref call, certainly not that one. But I do get that you tried to balance your opinion, I give you credit for that.

Howard played that penalty shot horribly. He wasn't even close to stopping it, and looks like he didn't have a clue where he was. If Howard stops it (and it's not like Kane was his opponent, let's be honest...) not one Wings fan is saying anything about the call. But since Howard stunk up the joint against a bench player, suddenly it becomes the refs fault for a terrible call, even though by the rules it's the correct call? Just because of context, or something? Not making sense, sorry NUN.

Seeing the Hawks the last 2 games makes me simultaneously happy and upset. It's pretty great what they did on Saturday, and then last night's 3rd period was just amazing. But this is what we should have seen the whole series. And we didn't. Win tomorrow and all is forgiven. I'm still not there yet. Still angry at them for games 2-4.

No. :) I thought maybe a good night's sleep and a new day would make me feel better about this, but I can't shake how the Blackhawks' best players are basically all being stoned at the same time by a #7 seed. It's not just Howard. It's not just the PP. It's the entire thing. We're being beat, soundly, by a team we have no business playing this poorly against. I'll give Detroit full marks for winning, but at some point you've got to simply win some matchups and blow up what they are doing. Especially since they did exactly that in several situations through the year.

It's completely reasonable to think they'll miss enough, over 3 entire games, to result in 1 loss. Come on now.

Is there really anything in the last three games that would lead someone to think they could win 3 in a row? Game 3 wasn't that bad. Moreover, while Howard has been good, he's also been very lucky, the last two games he's been cleanly beat 4 times only to have the puck hit off a post. Those kinds of things tend to even out and I think they're going swing in the Hawks favor over the next three games. Swing back enough to result in 3 straight wins? Glad if it happens, but I doubt it will.

That sounds like a reasonable thing to do... I can handle a player sucking. toews and sharp are ass right now, but at least I see them skating and notice them on the ice. once [expletive] went sour, kane and hossa went straight into coast mode. I'm disappointed in all of them. Yeah, Toews has put forth more effort but I'm expecting more from him than losing his cool like that. Kane/Hossa -- I'm just wondering what the hell happened, why they never showed up.

Toews is the guy you should be aggravated with. He did nothing in the first series. Kane bossed that one, at least, and has at least been on the scoresheet against Detroit. Toews has allowed Detroit to completely take him out of the series. Thank you.
