  1. They fired Chud because it wasn't going to get any better -- and THIS is the answer. I don't feel sorry for Chud. Guy got a golden parachute and a get out of jail free card. He'll do much better away from Cleveland.
  2. Hah
  3. What is spotrac and why would the Bears negotiate a deal that gives them a $22m cap hit this year after talking about how damaging the one year cap hit is for franchise tags? It looks like spotrac is just re-posting overthecap.com info http://www.overthecap.com/cap.php?Name=Jay%20Cutler&Position=QB&Team=Bears
  4. Packers, Indy are sold out. Only Cincy remains.
  5. I'd argue that Shea's problem isn't so much that he's a tweener. It's that he sucks at football. This notion that they're going to somehow shift him around and make him successful that way isn't going to work.
  6. IMO he's done enough to keep his job heading into the offseason programs, starting as a rookie at a tough position from a low round position in the draft. I know Cutler has said that he deserves as much credit as Long for what he did this year.
  7. The best player available should take priority. Defense can be improved with depth. And WR turnover happens quickly. Doesn't seem like Emery is going offense very often in the draft, based on his comments yesterday though. But who knows. It's pretty clear he's more comfortable with his picks on the offensive side.
  8. Nix had knee surgery (I believe). That's the only reason he's below Hageman. People don't really know what to expect from him, but I think he'll be fine. Hageman is intriguing though. Strong as an ox. 6-6 in the middle of the D would be beautiful. But despite being bigger, I think Nix is quicker off the ball. Also allows you to put him at nose if there's a hybrid D or 3-4 D in place. My thoughts exactly. Nix had season-ending knee surgery this year, and the Bears absolutely must hit on these defensive draft picks. I have no idea how Emery will draft at this point, but it seems like a pretty big risk to pick Nix when you already know coming in that he's got a health issue.
  9. Yeah, packers only had 3000 or so left unsold. Won't be a problem for them.
  10. Cause it would be the most recent season. Further gets away from injury the more confident you have to feel about him staying that way. I don't know - I think this is all pretty nonsensical and manufactured. I view Cutler as a tough, durable player as far as QBs go. He's been in danger of injury most of the time he's been here because the Bears didn't provide any kind of reasonable way for him to win football games and still be protected. That's changing now and there's been measurable, substantial progress in that direction. Obviously there's always an injury concern with any big money player, but that's not my primary factor in liking or disliking this deal. But I'm not going to argue with you guys over it all offseason. The deal is done.
  11. Also, concussions are just a huge concern with any player. So every team is concerned about that when they spend big money on a QB, or any other player. It's something that is always taken into consideration. I'm much less concerned about it with Cutler now, because I know that the team finally has a commitment to protecting him on the field. But it's always going to be something that can happen, any time.
  12. i don't get how this is at all true. maybe this is over my head or i'm not getting something that's as plain as day. the traumatic injuries that he received were from his head being struck or from his hand becoming entangled and twisted, both upper-body injuries that have little to do with a pattern of wear and tear. I think he's essentially saying that Cutler is like a mini-McMahon. Takes too many chances, gets himself into trouble too much. I would have thought that his first several years of football would dispel that notion, but he's countering with the idea that those were just lucky years. Again -- I don't agree with it, but that's what it sounds like to me. So he'll be injured more because he'll stick himself into trouble too much.
  13. Wimps. Their parents endured the ice bowl -- which was 10 degrees colder. So get your damn parka on and go to the game, cheesehead.
  14. 5 straight years of pretty much injury-free football (2006-2010) kind of blows up that logic, TT. You appear to be arguing that he's become more injury prone because he crossed the 30 line, as if he's a WR or something. You aren't making much sense right now to me.
  15. As for McCown, here's where I saw that he wanted to come back to the Bears: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-brad-biggs-10-thoughts-chicago-bears-20131230,0,3527042.story Maybe things will change if/when he gets other offers, but I'd sure like to see him return as the backup -- meatballs be damned. He's the ideal-fit backup QB for this club, and it should ease some of those injury concerns with Cutler that people have too.
  16. Number of years it is spread out over will do that.
  17. If 2010 is irrelevant then why is 2011 relevant? Because it's when he sustained the first of several different injuries that have caused him to miss time, illustrating that injuries beget injuries. He's missed 5 of his last 16 and 6 of his last 32 games, so it's not as if 2011 was aberrant in that comparison. I find that to be a ridiculous assertion.
  18. Then there's this little tid-bit: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-12-31/news/chi-chris-conte-bears-twitter-20131230_1_bears-player-bears-fans-tv-reporter
  19. Ugh, McNeil on the radio with his "signature games" diatribe too. Makes me want to punch him in the damn face. At least he did say that he wanted the Bears to bring back Cutler. He just wanted the franchise year rather than this.
  20. Hah, yeah.
  21. God, depressing. Bears have a lot of work to do though, so it will at least be a very interesting period.
  22. Also, logic isn't always applied, so to suggest they wouldn't do something because it's illogical doesn't really work.
  23. I thought I read that McCown really wants to come back here.
