  1. I'm rooting against more blackhawks than I'm rooting for. It's too weird.
  2. Do you want us to prove to you that you actually can see him being successful, or do you want him to prove to you that he can be successful? I don't have high hopes for the experiment, partially because I don't see anything resembling top end defensive coaching available to Shea. But I can see it working out. I meant that I wouldn't mind if the Bears/Shea prove me wrong on it. It's the last gasp for what appears to be a big 1st round miss (as Banedon said).
  3. I can't see Shea @ LB being successful. Feel free to prove me wrong.
  4. They like sledding in Deutschland. So, they get golds riding their sleds. They ought to rank these golds in terms of ones that actually involve doing something, and ones that involve just jumping on a sled.
  5. So, he's saying that Jernigan is a reach, but the Bears should do it anyway? That's not a very good idea.
  6. because they're scoring over and over but in the NHL, you cycle through new guys. If it goes 7 or 8 "innings", you're 3rd SO skater doesn't do innings 3-8 Agreed, it makes it even worse than the NHL shoot outs. Not only is it not hockey, but it's also just 2 v 2. Terrible format
  7. The Manziel = Romo comparison seems way off to me. I don't think of those two as anything like each other. Really? I actually think that's a pretty good comparison for Manziel. Yeah. The big difference that sticks out to me is the running ability. I felt like Garcia was a better comparison - which he touched on, but discarded.
  8. No chance.
  9. The Manziel = Romo comparison seems way off to me. I don't think of those two as anything like each other.
  10. Based on the history, that's the problem. They have no idea if it's the right move or not. Or what the right move might look like.
  11. Conditions were obviously horrible on that half-pipe. Even I can see it. Overall these games have been pretty much terrible, from empty seats to mediocre opening ceremonies, to subpar conditions.
  12. Pretty good point, IMO. I'm hoping the extent of this is some media-driven copy during training camp, which fades once the games start. Hard to guarantee that, though.
  13. Removing Cutler from this for the sake of attempting to be objective. Wilson and Smith seem to fit perfectly in Angelo's description for the 7.0 - 7.4 group. But he's got them ranked 2 full groups ahead of that. He seems to be giving them individual extra credit for the accomplishments of the rest of their teams -- especially the defenses. Not to rail on Wilson -- he's my boy (Badgers), and had a great year, obviously. But the best defense in the league as well. Smith operated with DVOA's #9 defense. And if I didn't know the numbers associated with each of his descriptions, I would have had difficulty knowing that his 7.5 - 7.9 group was supposed to be higher than the 7.0 - 7.4 group.
  14. In fairness to Cleveland, it's hard to rank an organization until there's an organization to rank.
  15. Seriously, is that a joke?
  16. Just win [expletive] football games. Everything else is just peripheral drama. He starts making big plays on Sunday, and fans will cheer for him just like any other player. At some point, an openly gay player is going to be an integral part of a team -- we're really just talking about when, not if. If not Sam, then eventually it will be someone else.
  17. "best of luck to ya, kid."
  18. Yes. I'm hiring gooney to be my interpreter.
  19. I thought you were talking about the bridge idea not being floated.
  20. I think a major objective of the bridge was to be able to put more signage up there. A tunnel wouldn't do much in that way. I don't recall that idea even being floated for the neighborhood not to like, though. It was, and looking back it was Tunney who started chirping up about it. I'm not sure if the rest of the neighborhood was opposed. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-07-17/news/chi-tunney-threatens-to-try-to-block-wrigley-unless-changes-made-20130717_1_ricketts-family-lake-view-citizens-wrigley-field Anyway, I can see gooney's point.
  21. So anyway -- if a guy is projected mid rounds, 4th - 7th round, it's not uncommon for that player to fall out into the UDFA ranks. I don't think it will "get ugly" on draft day, like I might have if he was really projected in the earlier rounds.
  22. who was that? Evan Rodriguez.
  23. Want. I noticed that this model doesn't have the pedestrian bridge from the hotel to the stadium. I wonder if they could accomplish the same thing by using an underground tunnel instead, since -- remembering back -- the neighborhood didn't like that idea either.
  24. I could have sworn I read that Sam was projected 3rd round before the announcement. Now I'm seeing 3rd - 5th.
  25. If he drops because of this, it will be a huge story on draft day too. Could get kind of ugly, actually. I'd like to think that a guy like Emery -- desperate for defensive talent, especially on the D Line -- would find it very difficult to pass up a high value pick like this if he falls to, say, the 5th round or so. Of course, what I'd like to think vs. what will actually happen: probably two different things.
