  1. What were the odds with Maddux pitching today against the Pirates? And how did it turn out? Williams + Maddux going against the Reds? I smell a split.
  2. So if Z would have pitched today, we lose what? 1-0? What's the difference? The difference is, Z is going tomorrow. And that means they've got a good shot to win....again. And taking 3 of 4 from the Pirates is exactly what the Cubs could use. Asking for a sweep is not realistic. Three game sweeps rarely happen, let alone 4. Go out and take 3 of 4 from Pittsburgh, and then 3 of 4 from the Reds. If they do that, then they're headed in the right direction going into the Cards series. Of course, and we should beat those teams 3/4. But we have lots of games left against the Cards & Stros too. And I'm sorry, but we aren't as good a ballclub as the Cards---they will eat us alive. And the Stros? I hope they slow down, but who knows? We might be as good or a little better than them, I'm not sure yet.
  3. are you sure it isn't a .520 team, or a .480 team? I find it hard to believe this team was destined to win just as many as it lost. Oh, OK Mr. picky  It's *around* a .500 ballclub.
  4. I'm sorry, but that's BS. We have a better team than most of teams ahead of us in the WC. Do we have a division winning team? probably not. But we have more than .500 talent. I simply disagree. One of the worst outfields in baseball, and a bullpen that's very, very shaky. It's a .500 ballclub, or thereabouts.
  5. So if Z would have pitched today, we lose what? 1-0? What's the difference?
  6. People keep talking about how Dusty sucks, or how we're set to "make a run." It's silly. This is a .500 ballclub. Has been since the beginning. We're playing exactly as we should folks. No better, no worse.
  7. Walker, at the moment of the error: "Giordano's, or UNO. Uno, or Giordano's. Hmmmm...."
  8. Well, this one's over. Sorry guys, but there's no use hoping for a rally when the team obviously is more interested in tending to their dinner plans.
  9. Because their offense actually gets big hits? like a larry walker three run homer Yep yep. And off a proven veteran like Oswalt too. Meanwhile, we look sick against a rookie----irregardless of his worth as a prospect, still a rookie.
  10. Because their offense actually gets big hits?
  11. Wow, Kasper is just out in left field today. Lee & ARam can't touch this guy, yet he says "there's still a good chance to score here" with Maddux up and two outs? Huh? Now he says you just feel that the Cubs will come back in this one. Not sure about the rest of you, but this offense looks dead today. I feel absolutely nothing from our O right now.
  12. So that means he should come up and destroy all stars like Lee & ARam from the get-go? Huh?
  13. In the words of the immortal Vince Lombardi, "What the hell is going on out here?!?" I turn on the TV to see the Cubs getting PUNKT by some rookie? What is this crap?
  14. :-s You're kidding, right? Sandberg has about as much chance of getting a call from Morgan as Oprah has of winning the Miss America pageant.
  15. Somebody's got to stop the Stros. May as well be the Cards. I had no trouble rooting for Jimmy Ed & Pujols tonite 8)
  16. Of course, I'll be the first to say this will never happen, but it is an intriguing idea. Cuban wants his teams to win and he isn't afraid to spend money or shake things up. On the other hand, for those that value tradition, Cuban may not be your guy. He's innovative and is willing to try about anything. Carol Sleeeezak is one of the reporters that named Bartman. I don't trust one single work from her. I have no respeck at all for her or what she does. Agreed. With all due respect to Carol, she hasn't garnered enough respect in this city for her speculations to hold any water.
  17. Well, in the Cubs' defense, there was no way they could know that Raffy would start pumping steroids with Jose Canseco in Texas, while Gracie stayed clean as a whistle.
  18. Time to stir things up. Chin music time, cmon. Hit somebody. THIS GAME COUNTS, DAMMIT!!
  19. Nothing would prevent that. My issue is how it cheapens the game. This is an exhibition. How can a game that doesn't count in the standings be used to affect the outcome of the most important 7 games of the year?! Completely ridiculous. Let's start a new system next year: here ya go-----all preseason records will be compiled, and those with the best preseason records in each division will be given an extra game at home in divisional series!! Let's make those spring training games count, baby!! This year they COUNT!! Whoohoo! God, it's just so completely stupid.
  20. Yah, for whatever reason the AL just has had much better offenses the past few years, their pitching has been good enough and the NL pitching has been somewhat sucky - all together it means AL wins and NL losses And wasn't there that rumor last year that the reason Clemens gave up 6 first inning runs was that Piazza was tipping off the AL hitters? Wood should either be A) Traded, or B) moved to the bullpen after a few good starts. sorry couldn't help it man 8) Don't make me hunt you down. Seriously, all I'd have to do is jump on I-94 and come and find you. :P :D
  21. Dunno. He played for some team that starts with a "C". I think it's a city on a lake.....or something like that. I'm probably way off ;)
