    Lou accidentally kicked an ump and got four games. Accidental or not, it's contact with an ump. Wasn't Lou just for kicking dirt on the ump? Anyway I agree. Contact is contact, doesn't matter how slight or if it was intentional. 3 games is entirely appropriate as far as I'm concerned.

    Yeah this is really great. I think this actually is good for the sale. You're buying a club that has 3 star position players in Soriano, Lee, and ARam, and they also have an ace pitcher in the rotation and a decent 2nd starter in Lilly. $90 million is pretty much of low significance compared to the value of having an ace on the staff when selling a $1billion ballclub. It's a marketable team, a team that should look attractive to buyers, keep the price high. Now hopefully Z's last 2 starts are just a bump in the road and not an indication of something more.

    Interesting that the home-town folk don't go for "The Riot." Seems like a totally obvious nickname to me. Hard to believe nobody called him that before.

    Ok, so all that means is Hill catches pitchers when they have a good day. CERA means nothing. Yeah CERA seems to have fallen out of favor as a valid measure of a catcher's abilities. I really don't know of a good way to quantify how a catcher 'calls' a game, but then again I'm not a big stats guy (though I'm trying to improve).

    and the Cubs are 17-8 when he is in the starting lineup! Specious statistics FTW! It's just so hard to watch him suck time after time at the plate. Do you not cringe when he comes up as I do? I cringe alright. A part of me dies every time he comes up to the plate. I get this strong urge to revert to the fetal position when his name is announced.

    I hope he's not hurt badly. Not that I would have wanted him hurt ever, but actually he's been playing alright recently I think he's helping out quite a bit these days. I also was unable to see the game today, and some stuff came up at work, so thx for the update

    Wow, it is amazing to see that. You know what they're saying in Milwaukee though: typical Brewers. They've been fading in the 2nd half for more than just this season. Crew fans have seen this before.

    Uh, who is going to testify to sealed grand jury testimony? Pretty much what I'm going to say. If I'm Barry, I start going after people. Just bring a copy of Game of Shadows. Case dismissed. This is just a ploy anyway, to try and scare anyone else who might be thinking of speaking out against Barry. Nothing but some intimidation to try and silence the very real criticism that Bonds doesn't want to have to deal with anymore.

    Your completely missing the grand irony here. All of those things that you mention have happened, and yet the Cardinals sit 2.5 games out of first place in mid to late August You are drastically over-simplifying my rant. The whole point of the Cardinals' pixie dust theory is that no matter what they win, even when they shouldn't. You basically just reinforced the entire point of the disdain for Cardinals luck that is seen around these parts.
