  1. I fully understand the love for Marmol, but I can't understand why everybody hates Howry. I don't hate him at all. He's a good pitcher. A very good pitcher. I wasn't singling you out, just wondering aloud since so many don't want him closing. K! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

  3. So Juan Pierre without the speed and worse at hitting? But with a much, much better OBP historically. Nearly .400 twice and over .360 once in the past five years.
  4. He's had a decent to great OBP every year since 2001. He's been horrible this year which worries me, but otherwise what's to hate about him. I think it's just a given around here for people to hate anything and everything the Cubs do. I'm not sure I like this deal, there's plenty to dislike. But, if he can turn it around he'd be valuable. Moreso than Bowen or Hill.
  5. He's had a decent to great OBP every year since 2001. He's been horrible this year which worries me, but otherwise what's to hate about him. Because his OPS is lower than ARam's SLG this year. He's publicly said he doesn't try to hit for power, so for several years he's been pretty much a guarantee of a sub .700 OPS. His body is broken down from catching all these years and previous injuries, and there's nothing to get excited about defensively. This is exactly like the Cesar Izturis trade, exactly. But he's always gotten on base very well - before this year. IF he can turn it on with us, this is ok. Like I said though, I'm worried about that. Also, don't see how this is anything at all like the Cesar trade.
  6. He's been terrible this year, but quite good each of the past few. He is getting a bit old, but as a rental I'm ok with this. Plus we didn't give much up. .709 OPS in 2006, .666 OPS in 2005. Thats quite good? OBP since 2003: .399 .399 .345 .367 .261 He's never been much of a slugger. I am quite concerned about his terrible numbers this year.

  9. Did he get a single pitch that wasn't in the dirt that AB? Don't believe so.
  10. What's he saying about it? They made (and admitted to) mistakes in his development - such as trying him as a switch hitter and making him play multiple positions instead of just short.
  11. Ouch. That hurts. Barrett's BA is the same as his OBP. Nope, no walks. 53 ABs. Yep. Like CCP's been saying - the trade was terrible for both teams. Neither side has gotten a good player.
  12. Lou: "Dan Wilson seems like Johnny Bench compared to these guys."
  13. He should win it this year. I can't imagine anyone's been better. What worries me is that it's based so heavily on reputation. This year might start giving ARam the needed reputation, but I'm not sure if he'll get it this season.
  14. This'll make for a good confidence builder if he can keep it up. Then hopefully he'll be able to take on a tougher D'Backs lineup.
  15. Nice! I'm currently looking to get my hands on some Titans/Colts in Nashville tickets. I'm only using five of the games. I'm looking to unload the two preseason games and the Thursday nighter vs the Packers. Cowboys/Packers would be a very nice game. I'd love to go to one - especially considering any year could be Favre's last.
