  1. Probably Cedeno. He hits with his right hand after all.
  2. And it makes Miles' money even more inexcusable. Very good point. He's making in two years what DeRosa would make in one. I just realized that. :banghead: Yeah. I don't hate having Miles on the roster, but I hate paying him that much. I was fine with it when I heard about it - but I was thinking it'd be 1 year/$1 mil tops. Not two years/$2.5 per. Typical Hendry, overpaying for mediocrity Eh, he overpays for everybody. Except the hometown discounts, is there really any free agent at all that Hendry hasn't overwhelmed?
  3. Escalating contracts are coming back to bite them The crappy economy is probably hurting worse right now.
  4. For me, it was more that they had pursued Peavy and were rumored with Bradley, Dunn, Ibanez, etc. all offseason. It must have been a new revelation for Hendry that they were maxed out.

  6. Look at all those lefties . . . Its been said that the lack of lefties is why they can't get past the first round... Too bad only two of those lefties are even decent (Fontenot and Fuku).

  8. It's better than Aaron Miles starting. Not by much! Can't wait for those games with Miles & Bako both starting too. Miles, Bako, Theriot and Joey Gathright could all be in the same starting lineup this season! gonna be fun in the game threads when Lou posts those lineups. It's amazing that a team with our payroll could even possibly field that lineup. For us, though, it's a likely occurence. I think Hendry's hiding the truth. The ol' kabash has been put on our payroll. Only way to explain this. That's the only logical way to explain it.
  9. That role is fine, but with Bradley likely in the fold, Hoff will likely get far more playing time than a 4th OF should get.

Miles, Bako, Theriot and Joey Gathright could all be in the same starting lineup this season! Fukodome too I'm expecting him to improve from the general crapiness of the previously mentioned (though if Theriot can repeat his .380+ OBP, I'll be ok with him, I guess).

  12. Since Manny's too expensive (probably $20+ mil is what he's looking for), I voted Dunn. Bradley will be hurt too much and his production will be watered down with far too much playing time from Hoffpauir, Reed and Gathright.
  13. I voted bad and agree with you pretty much completely.
  14. Not even close. It's going to take a very good bat to replace the dropoff from DeRosa to Aaron Miles. If Hermida plays at the highest level I could realistically hope for he might make up that difference. I'd feel a lot better if Adam Dunn were being brought in. The dropoff is most likely going to be from DeRosa to Fontenot. I don't think Miles will start over Mike. And I don't think the dropoff between DeRosa and Fontenot next year is that huge. Miles will play, though, and he'll likely be bad in those at bats he gets. There will also be the at bats Hoffpauir, Reed and Gathright get that DeRosa would have gotten. You've also got the opportunity cost of no longer having DeRosa around if Fontenot struggles.

  17. Aaron Miles. That's quite a step down then, even with Bradley. You're not joking. We'll now have Fontenot/Miles platooning at 2B and Bradley in RF for 85-90 games and the Hoff/Reed/Gathright three-headed monster in right for 72-77 games. We better get Peavy.
  18. So you're saying its your fault Roast? Somehow I always suspected this. [-X pretty sure its CTs fault That's usually a good bet, but if Roast is admitting guilt . . .
  19. At this point I pray we get him only because the DeRosa trade is 100% utterly awful if we don't get at least Bradley. Of course, maybe it would be a blessing in disguise. Losing Bradley and trading DeRosa might just force Hendry to go after Dunn like he should be doing.
  20. Exciting? They haven't done anything but get worse so far. What's so exciting about taking steps back? Maybe because he likes Fontenot / Bradley better than Fontenot / DeRosa. I don't consider that worse. When Bradley is likely to play, at most, 90-95 games and the rest of the time we'll have Hoff/Reed/Gathright playing, that's worse.
  21. lol...quite the haul... I am not sure what you expected to fetch for a 34 yr old MIF'er who just had a career yr and has one yr left on his contract. DeRosa, it seems, was a case where keeping him provided far more value than trading him. Sadly, we had to have Aaron Miles' left handed bat.
