  1. Titans hire Auburn DL coach Tracy Rocker to the same position and also former Texan DC Frank Bush as LB coach. A couple of good moves, I think.
  2. Chris Palmer is the new Titans OC. I'd have rather stuck with Heimerdinger, but I guess he's better than Tice or Callahan.
  3. Yeah, seriously. I'd be scared as hell to have Tice as OC. With Munchak, Matthews, and Tice though, they should have a hell of an OL though. Even if those 3 gotta play themselves. Yeah, my first thought when I saw Munchak was going after Callahan and Tice was that he's simply trying to horde as many OL coaches as he can. Problem is, with Callahan or Tice, the rest of the offense would probably be pretty bad.
  4. This gives us all of 5 - and only 1 will mean anything after this season. Z has 10/5 rights anyway, Soriano will have 10/5 rights after this year and Kosuke and Shark's contracts are up after this year. So currently on the team we have 2 players with full no trade protection who don't have 10/5 rights - Sori and Shark. Kosuke and Marmol now have limited no trade protection and Z has 10/5 rights. I don't see an issue with NTCs.
  5. I'd like to thank the Bears for making the Titans better. Tice as OC just seems like a bad idea.
  6. Well, the Bears denied the Titans' request to interview Tice for the OC position. That means we've requested to interview Bill Callahan and Mike Tice and both have been shot down. Teams across the NFL are saving Munchak from himself here, it seems. I don't like either of those options. Just hire Tom Clements, that's the right move here.
  7. I don't think I like that idea at all. I'm a big fan of the Clements rumors, but I really don't see Tice being very good.
  8. Gray to the Titans is now official. Trying to decide if I like the hire or not.
  9. Would Trooper be considered "very, very high profile"? That kind of emphasis makes me think it'd be somebody very well known, even by casual fans. Charlie Weis, for instance (though it being him would be rather strange).
  10. We going to do this one again or just let it die?
  11. That's silly. What could Kiper have seen at a workout that he didn't already know about Cam?
  12. The sooner part is a bit of a limb, but wouldn't stun me. I've seen nothing so far to make me think he can't excel as an NFL QB, the only problem is, we haven't seen that much from him overall.
  13. Yeah, there's very little to glean from the offseason for Newton. He's a fantastic physical talent with everything an NFL team could want and the combine, workouts, etc. will just confirm that. The only part of the offseason stuff that could/should impact his draft status, I think, are the Wonderlic and personal interviews. He's obviously going to be a raw, high upside guy so his intelligence, work ethic and ability to adapt to and develop in an NFL offense will be key.
  14. If it's free, I'm definitely interested.
  15. Yeah I just saw that and if true that sucks. Texas 1st Junior Day is tomorrow. I can't blame him for maybe taking that money, but its going to kill any chance he has at becoming the DC at Texas in the next 2-3 years. He turned down a raise from Pete Carroll and more money to go back to Texas so I am not sold on him taking the job. Either way this could be going full circle between us as if he leave I am guessing Willie Mack Garza is next in line and who I would love to bring back to Texas. I almost prefer him over Gray. I've lost track of Willie Mack. I know he followed Lane to USC, but I don't know if he's still there or if he went elsewhere. Also not completely sold on Gray, but the secondary was excellent while he was in Nashville previously (as DB coach).
  16. shnsajax,
  17. It was the quickest and easiest way to illustrate it that I thought of off the top of my head. My overall point (which I may have made badly) is that we're giving up a lot of value and cheap production (Byrd, Wells, Dolis) for an older, less valuable player (Young) and an apparent bust (Davis). The trade looks better if you don't believe Wells is a quality pitcher (he is), but I still wouldn't give up that much value (Byrd, Dolis) for a guy who is old and overpaid and may not be that much better than DeWitt as it is (especially considering defense).
  18. Outside of not expecting him to get enough PAs to reach 23-25 HR (if Kosuke stays), there's also the concern over his HR/FB ratio. His HR/FB ratio was 19.4% last year, 14th best in the majors among all hitters. His ratio was comparable to guys like Konerko, Miguel Cabrera, Josh Hamilton, Ryan Howard and Adam Dunn. He has shown solid power at times in the minors, but the thought is that the ratio won't be sustainable at that level. Even with that ratio, he still only hit 20 HR in 395 PAs last year.
  19. The 10 second runoff is badly needed.
  20. He'll amend it 2-3 times before the actual draft. It's certainly much different than a lot of the other mocks I've seen. Few people still have Mallett as a first round pick, multiple mocks have moved Liuget solidly into the first round and this is easily the lowest I've seen Amukamara go.
  21. i really don't think he'll fall past 13 Probably not, but I know Bunting is down on him. There's no doubt his personal evaluations played a big role in where he had guys taken.
  22. NFP Mock Draft 1.0 Notables: He has Cory Liuget falling out of the first round, but has him as the top player in the 2nd round. Mikel Leshoure is the 2nd best player still on the board in the 2nd round. Amukamara drops to 17.
  23. I'm surprised he's not a Cardinal.
