    If the Broncos are going to eventually turn the offense over to Tebow, he needs weapons. Brandon Lloyd and Jabar Gaffney aren't likely to repeat their numbers in McDaniels' offense and Demaryius Thomas has had trouble staying healthy. The Broncos have Eddie Royal and Eric Decker as well, but another young receiver would be a nice addition. So, to add some downfield presence, the Broncos select Titus Young, WR, Boise State. Young and Royal have similar skillsets, but I think Young is a little more of a down the field type of guy who can give the Broncos a big play option none of their receivers really do at this point. Mixed with Royal, Thomas and Decker, Young gives the Broncos options at every level. The Rams and Formerly Snayke are now on the clock. I'll PM him.

    Good to hear. I didn't look into the pick a lot and had no idea if Mallett was the type player Minnesota would go for, but figured it was time for Mallett to come off the board. Glad a Vikings fan agrees with me.

    Was just coming here to check on if there were news on the McNutt injury. I was at the Smokies/Lookouts game today and was truly loving watching McNutt for the first time ever when the trainer bolted out. I was pretty concerned at first, but they spent the whole time looking at McNutt's right hand. I assumed it was a blister and sounds like Mick agreed. McNutt was on today, keeping hitters off balance his 2+ innings of work and only getting hit hard once or twice. Hardly notable, but he had a no-hitter going when he left. Carillo and Buchter followed him and weren't particularly impressive, though Carillo was getting good results most of his outing. Jackson looked great. His first AB wasn't special, but after that he saw quite a few pitches and did a good job of making contact when he swung. The grand slam cleared the 400-foot fence by a decent margin - it was a no-doubter. Vitters wasn't very impressive and he's a lot smaller than I expected. I don't know that much about Mario Mercedes, but he looked like he had a pretty good arm and quick release behind the plate. Clevenger and Flaherty had some nice swings and Rebel Ridling is a big guy.

Was the title changed to Vikings on the clock? If it was, I didn't see it. Yep, you were supposed to get a PM. The title was changed to the Vikings on the clock, but I can see where that could be missed. You can go ahead and make a pick if you want to replace Mallett - it'd be better that way because you know the Vikings far better than I do.

    The Vikings need a quarterback pretty desperately and didn't take one in the first round. Another guy with top 10 talent is still sitting around at this pick and his risk is greatly reduced at this point. So, the Vikings select Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas. sneakypower and the Lions are now on the clock. I'll PM him.

    For a guy his age, though, the past 1-2 years are probably more indicative of what he is now than how he did 3-4 years ago. Don't take this as me arguing he'll be bad, I honestly don't know what we're going to get out of Wood this year. Just hoping somebody else might have a good idea of what to expect and why.

    Russell is actually a pretty good option as a LOOGY and is about as good a middle relief option as you're going to find without overpaying considerably. Stevens and Mateo are still young with good potential (especially Stevens) and we could see considerable improvement from both over the course of the season. Both Grabow and Shark are likely lost causes, but have a chance to be decent enough for middle relief guys.

    On a more specific note, I'm curious about just what to expect from Wood. It's interesting that you seem to expect him to be great (if healthy) since he was terrible for about a full year and a half with Cleveland and then even though he was great for half a year in New York, there seemed to be quite a bit of luck involved. I know we shouldn't expect the dominant numbers he posted with the Yankees, but is he that likely to be great if he stays healthy, or is he more of a performance question mark?

    Replacing one malcontent for a potential one may not seem like the best of ideas, but this is the Redskins and they like to do crazy things. Therefore, Washington chooses to bolster its defensive line depth (and overall talent) by taking a guy that, purely on talent, should have gone in the top 5 picks of the draft. The Redskins select Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina. There are all kinds of needs and holes on this team, but with Big Albert trying to make his way out of town, Austin gives the Redskins the versatility to play some inside and also move outside (where he'd likely be more effective in a 3-4). The Texans and Lo_Pan_Fan are now on the clock. I'll PM him.

    Sorry vance. Blame EhDubya and rocket for taking Ponder and Kaepernick right before my pick. I'd have loved either of them at the Titans' spot.

    With Locker, Ponder and Kaepernick all off the board at this point, this draft is pretty much a worst case scenario for the Titans at this point. The need at QB is pretty desperate, but the Titans appear to be shying away from character concern guys (reportedly have no real interest in Cam Newton for that reason) which likely means they would pass on Mallett here. I like Mallett's arm, but the lack of mobility, even just inside the pocket, is disconcerting. So, the Titans pass on a QB here with the hopes that Flynn or Kolb can be acquired later and then will work to develop Rusty Smith. Instead, the Titans choose to address their line depth and go with Danny Watkins, OG, Baylor. Eugene Amano and Leroy Harris were iffy at best last season at the guard and center spots and the Titans could use a little extra depth anyway. Watkins is a bit older (26), but is mature enough to start from day one if he can beat out Harris or Amano and is a big, powerful lineman like Munchak likes. Length is a bit of a concern, but that and age are the only real drawbacks to Watkins' game. vance and the Cowboys are now on the clock, I'll PM him.

    It's time for Justin Houston to come off the board. He's easily a first round talent and for the Broncos to snag him here is a really good value. Denver needs more D-line depth as they make the switch to the 4-3 and while Dumervil should be fine making the move from OLB to DE, Robert Ayers is highly questionable at this point. So, the Broncos choose to continue to focus on defense and bolster the line depth. The Broncos select Justin Houston, DE, Georgia. Treeman and the Browns are on the clock, I'll PM him.

    Good value. I was starting to think he might fall to No. 45. The Jets were in a really good spot there with both Taylor and Houston still on the board. I like both of them in a 3-4 defense.

    Justin Houston is an extremely tempting pick here as he's the BPA and the Jets could use a pure speed rusher like Houston. However, need trumps want at this point and the Jets take a player who could fit their five-technique DT need perfectly. With the 30th pick, the Jets select Phil Taylor, DT, Baylor. rawaction and the Steelers are now on the clock, I'll PM him.

    Yeah, Kyle Wilson likely would replace Cromartie - they could use a third CB though, if they like Harris enough. Just realized Justin Houston was still available. After cutting Jason Taylor and Vernon Gholston and having Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas starting on the outside, that seems like a direction they'd go - plus Houston is BPA at this point.

    I thought strongly about Harris at that pick - it was between Harris and Marsh - but liked the upside of Marsh a little more. Plus, the Ravens were looking at bigger corners last year (Chris Cook for sure), so I thought the little bit of added size to Marsh would appeal to the Ravens as well. I could easily see them taking either there, though. I'll make the Jets pick here in a minute. If anybody has input, I'd take it. I'm thinking maybe Harris if Cromartie bolts.

    I knew Marsh defended and played well against Pettis against Boise this year, but didn't realize Utah State also play OU and San Diego State. That's an impressive list of receivers he's had to deal with. If he is polished enough to come in and play significant snaps as a rookie, then I like him even more. Him really catching on at the senior bowl and combine were good signs for him, but I still considered him a guy still learning the position. Given his inexperience at corner, I kind of figured he'd be a nickel guy to start out and then within a year or two he'd replace either Wilson or Carr - but if he's more developed than I'd heard, he could step in for one more immediately.

    The Ravens need help at corner pretty badly as they have some depth (Josh Wilson, Chris Carr, Lacedarius Webb, Fabian Washington) but not a lot of upside. The corner market isn't great at this point, but there are a couple of intriguing guys out there, so the Ravens choose to go with the most intriguing guy still on the board there. The Ravens select Curtis Marsh, CB, Utah State. Marsh is a former tailback who will need some time to develop and get used to the position a little more in the NFL, but he has good size (6-1) and has shown sizable improvement from 2009 to 2010. This is a pure upside pick, but it's one that could turn out very well for Baltimore.

    I can see that reasoning a little bit more - hoping for lightning in a bottle for a couple weeks - but long term this season DeWitt should be the platoon half opposite Baker. He's got the much higher offensive ceiling.
