  1. Jags have some talent. They could quickly become the best team in the AFC South if Gabbert develops. Watt over Amukamara is a little surprising from Houston. Especially since the DE depth is better than the CB depth.
  2. While he could start, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gabbert sit next year and develop behind Leftwich. It'd be the best move.
  3. Wow, I didn't like the Titans' pick and now because of that pick, a division rival just got a ton better. I really, really hope they're right about Locker.
  4. He did have a career pre-2010 keep in mind. He's got all the physical tools and my opinion of what he could be was formed before his one poor NFL season with terrible talent around him. It's overreacting to ignore an entire college career and draft workouts over that one season - unless you felt that way about Clausen beforehand and then I'd have to ask why you felt that way.
  5. I don't hate it because of the potential, but the biggest reason I don't like it is it was clearly a knee-jerk reaction to the VY era. He didn't work out so they eschew talent for work ethic and attitude.
  6. good quarterbacks can make at least a few plays with substandard NFL players. It's harder for pocket passers to make plays with substandard talent than more mobile QBs. That can be a defense of Clausen and a reason to favor Newton. There's also room between what Clausen is now (not very good) and what he can become (solid to very good). Giving up on a QB after one year when you invested a high pick just isn't a good idea.
  7. Ugh. I don't like it, but hopefully Munch and Palmer know what they're doing.
  8. Hoping for Gabbert or Fairley here, expecting Locker or Dalton.
  9. Definitely. Best player in the draft went 5th. houston really should have tried to move up for him. their secondary is so God-awful. Amukamara is still there and may last until their pick.
  10. I'm kind of torn on it. They gave up way too much, but they really needed another weapon for Ryan and there simply isn't much WR talent after the Green/Jones duo. It's not a great move, but it's one I think they almost had to make.
  11. i think it was obvious last season that clausen is not an NFL caliber football player. get what you can for him while you can. I don't think you can make that call until he has some NFL talent around him. i disagree, you can tell when someone is just bad. he showed nothing last season, nothing. he was bad from beginning to end. if he were a football player, he would have had a moment or two. I didn't watch a lot of Carolina football last year, but I tend to reserve opinion when a QB has almost literally zero talent around him.
  12. Definitely. Best player in the draft went 5th.
  13. I don't think it was terrible. Newton's going to be better than Clausen, I just don't think by enough to use a #1 pick on him. It wasn't the optimal pick, but it was still a solid pick.

  15. I like Miller as a 4-3 OLB and Elvis as a 4-3 DE too though.
  16. Von's a good pick, though Peterson would have been better. Somebody's getting a steal at this point.
  17. Deion loves him. He got more ecstatic than usual when analyzing the pick.
  18. Considering the money Cam will be getting, I don't think you can sit him. With that in mind, do you keep Jimmy Clausen now as a backup or try to salvage a 5th rounder or so for him?
  19. I'm probably as big a Kaepernick fan as there is out there, but 15 would be way, way too high for a guy who probably won't be ready to start for, at best, 2 seasons. A ton of upside, but way too raw to even consider before the early portion of the second round. It's funny you say this, because I see him being viable as a starter before Cam Newton easily, yet people are fine with him being as high as #1. There aren't many question marks surrounding Kaepernick outside of level of competition that aren't shared by Newton. I'm not necessarily in favor of Newton at 1, though I don't think it'd be a terrible pick for a team. It's not a great pick for the Panthers, however. That said, my concern with Kaep is that he's so much more raw at pretty much everything. While raw, Newton is a much more polished QB than Kaep and has faced better competition. From everything I've seen and read, Newton is also much more comfortable at this point taking snaps from under center than Kaep. I've heard Kaep is having some issues with it. It'd be a good idea to sit either QB for a couple of years upon drafting them, but I think Newton would be much better early if pressed into playing than Kaep.
  20. Exactly. I'd rather "miss" on these 1st round QBs if I were these teams. Get a better prospect at a different position and you would be paying them closer to their actual value. I realize nothing can happen yet, but I would take Vince Young over any of the guys not names Gabbert and Newton. And I would maybe take him over them as well. I wouldn't unless I was convinced Vince would work hard. He hasn't shown the interest in putting in the work yet, so it doesn't matter how much talent he has. I'd definitely take Newton, Gabbert, Kaepernick and Ponder over him and I'd consider Dalton, Locker and Mallett as well. That is unless some of these wild rumors are true and you'd have to use the 15th pick on Kaep or the 8th pick on Ponder or something like that.
  21. Newton and Tebow are obviously similar, but Newton does pretty much everything better than Tebow. Stronger arm, more athletic, faster, better throwing motion, taller. I don't think Newton's throwing motion is all that funky either. It's not picture perfect, but I'm not that concerned about it translating to the NFL. The best comparison I can think of for Newton is probably Steve McNair. Physically I see very similar QBs, though McNair never had work ethic questions. Newton does. Roethlisberger is another very good comparison, I think.
  22. I'm probably as big a Kaepernick fan as there is out there, but 15 would be way, way too high for a guy who probably won't be ready to start for, at best, 2 seasons. A ton of upside, but way too raw to even consider before the early portion of the second round.
  23. Can't say I'm excited about the possibility of the Titans going Locker/Dalton at 8. If the most recent rumors of nearly every QB in the draft coming off the board by 15, then it makes sense for the Titans to go ahead and get their QB, I'm just not that big a fan of either. Locker has some nice physical abilities, but there's a lot of risk for a guy who doesn't just blow you away with his potential and upside. He's a very high character player - which is a big plus for a QB - but there are other high character QBs in this draft I like more than Locker (Kaepernick, Gabbert especially). Dalton just feels like a "safe" pick. He's a guy with a very high floor and is very likely to be at least a decent NFL QB and he could probably start next year, but what's his ceiling? I don't think the physical tools give him room to be much more than a solid starter and you really should set your sights higher than that at #8. If those are the two players the Titans are looking at, I'd much rather they give up a mid round pick or two to move up ahead of Arizona and San Fran and take Gabbert.
  24. There have been a bunch of questions about his knee and that's making him plummet it seems.
  25. Almost every mock I've seen has the Cardinals taking Von Miller. I've not seen a true consensus for the Bills yet - I've seen Gabbert, Green and Jones most often.
