  1. Fantastic pick by Baltimore. Ozzie Newsome is probably the best front office man in the league. Saints come away from day one with Cameron Jordan and Mark Ingram - great day for them.
  2. So apparently the Ravens passed and the Chiefs then picked Jonathan Baldwin. I'm confused.
  3. Check my response to erik. I misspoke. Can we put a moratorium on picking the Lions though? Every year people pick them as the fashionable team that will win. They always suck in the end. Until they prove something, they deserve to be picked to suck. They were very competitive in every game they played last year and were a better team than their record would indicate with a mixture of bad backup quarterbacks last year. If Stafford had been healthy, they'd have likely been at 8+ wins.
  4. Alabama LT. Mayock had him as an early-mid 2nd rounder, though I've seen him most often mid-late 2nd. Pretty big reach there with all the talent - including Carimi - still on the board.
  5. Wow, biggest reach of the day beating out the Ponder pick by a little. Why take Carpenter when Carimi is still out there?
  6. Check my response to erik. I misspoke.
  7. My condolences. At least it wasn't Christian Ponder? I will take solace in that at least.
  8. He'll be a guard in the NFL. He doesn't have the quickness or the reach to play outside in the NFL.
  9. Haha, I knew somebody would call me out on that as soon as I hit submit. As the message was sending I realized Green Bay doesn't really have a "major" flaw, so I misspoke there. I'm still not a huge fan of the offensive line, but it's better with Bulaga. If Woodson isn't incredible again next year that could hurt some too. Green Bay's going to have to underperform for the Lions to win the division, but I think the Lions can give the Packers some problems and with luck could steal the division.
  10. I really don't like this draft in primetime thing. Now I have all night and all day tomorrow to stew about the Locker pick. I'd much rather there be a 2nd and 3rd round pick to (hopefully) make me feel better after the first day of the draft.
  11. I like Watkins but this is a little early for him. 26 years old and short arms probably should have kept him out of the first round.
  12. They have a legit shot to win the NFC North next year. They're not the favorites, but if Stafford can stay healthy they're good enough to win it. I don't know about their secondary. I'm not saying they "can't" win, but they wouldn't be my pick for the division. They're about 1 or 2 players away from playoff contention, though. They're almost there, and they're not gonna be doormats anymore. In that division, though, there's no perfect team. They all have pretty major flaws, so that's not as big an issue.
  13. They have a legit shot to win the NFC North next year. They're not the favorites, but if Stafford can stay healthy they're good enough to win it. Not if christian ponder has anything to say about it. oh wait, he doesn't. At least there's one team in the first round I feel like the Titans did better than.

  15. Plenty of players show flashes of brilliance and never put it together. A player simply shouldn't be evaluated on a partial season of playing time. if some players show flashes of brilliance and still never put it together, what does that say about clausen's chances? Nothing.
  16. Plenty of players show flashes of brilliance and never put it together. A player simply shouldn't be evaluated on a partial season of playing time.
  17. I believe your opinion of Clausen should remain consistent with what you thought of him before last season. It's overreaction to honestly have no opinion on him and, after his rookie year, deciding he has no NFL talent whatsoever. It either shows that you place no value on collegiate performances or you place too much importance on one season of production (or lack thereof). By your line of thinking, we should write off Cashner as a mediocre MLB pitcher at best.
  18. And I think you're assuming too much on just one year. If Clausen hadn't shown much pre-2010, I'd agree with you. But he posted very good collegiate numbers, looked very good in college and was impressive during pre-draft workouts. There's enough reason to believe he's got talent to not write him off after one bad year playing on a really bad team.
  19. I love the Quinn pick by St Louis. He's an excellent talent. Pouncey to Miami is interesting.
  20. Probably Jay Cutler.
  21. I don't know - and that's the key. We need to see more of Clausen before making a final decision on him. If you look at only last season, then yeah there's probably not much reason to consider him a viable starting NFL QB. But that's why evaluations should cover more than one season of production. It's similar to deciding Cashner isn't any good because he struggled in the majors last year and completely ignoring his minor league numbers.
  22. Detroit's going to have the best defensive line in NFL history.
  23. The Panthers also thought Jake Delhomme was a starting QB for a number of years that he wasn't. They have a history of misevaluating QBs. Making a concrete decision on a rookie after one year in which he had no talent around him is overreacting. You may end up being right, but you're still jumping the gun on your evaluation. One year shouldn't make or break any player who has displayed the tools to be successful.
  24. And where have I guaranteed he'll reach his potential? Lots of guys look great early and then never get any better too. Clausen has the physical tools to be a solid to very good NFL QB, whether he'll reach that ceiling or not is definitely in question and his first year didn't make me feel better about him. Just because a guy is terrible in his rookie year with no talent around him doesn't mean he has no talent, it means he had a bad rookie year.
  25. While he could start, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gabbert sit next year and develop behind Leftwich. It'd be the best move. Wrong crappy QB. Garrard. But I'm sure you're right about Gabbert not starting. Haha, whoops. Garrard's better, but they are kind of interchangable.
