  1. Whoopie!
  2. I'm thouroughly enjoying this off-season. Every name tied to the Bears, has signed elsewhere. Even Drummond re-signed with the Lions. Hooray.
  3. Because if you read further down, you get to this:
  4. Sadly I can't afford tickets this year - at least not on 2/24. It's really a luck thing, because I used the same method of getting tickets (computer lab; multiple PCs with multiple browsers) for the past two years. In '04 I got a game as early at 10:45 a.m. Last year I didn't get a game until 3:15 p.m. If you cannot get to multiple PCs, do continue use of multiple Windows... unless you use FireFox, in which case you can do multiple tabs in one window.

  6. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/pics/brooks_kieschnick_autograph.jpg His was the first Cubs jersey I owned, because I fell into the belief that he would be the next big star on the North Side. Technically his retirement makes this thread belong in transactions, but now that he is retired, I thought I would spark some discussion on what went wrong with his career. I remember seeing him in the CWS for Texas, pitching in the 90s in the 9th inning of games, while smacking HR after HR as their DH. He would have made an awesome mid-rotation guy, but the Cubs decided he was going to be the heir apparent to Dawson and subsequently made him a right fielder. Obviously that fizzled, and he was let go by the club (if I recall correctly). I know he was a Devil Ray DH and pitched for the Brewers. He officially retires as a Baltimore Oriole. I can only wonder "what could have been" had the Cubs been smart enough to keep him a SP. Good luck in retirement, Brooks, and I still have your jersey. :)
  7. I'll never forget that opening day vs the Mets. :) Now we can strike him out regularly.
  8. Rusch is pitching in this one. My initial guess is that D Lee goes nuts offensively in that game. Of course that describes most Cubs games last year :D They said on CSN in the lead-in that this was the day after the Prior injury and the day Hawkins was traded.
  9. Just what I need to see.... ah who am I kidding. I'll have it on for the background noise. ;)
  10. I was just looking to see what would be on TV tonight, and CSN is broadcasting a Rockies @ Cubs game. Doesn't say which year, which game. Anyone have details, and why it's being shown on Feb 13?!
  11. We play like crap against the poor teams anyways and fairly well against the better teams. This could be a blessing in disguise. That was the case in 05', 06' is a different year. Really? Seems like that's been the case throughout the Baker era. I don't look for much change this season. Even longer than that... I remember years where we would do really well against division leaders (ATL, SF, etc) and then get killed by the bottom feeders. Of course, they insisted the Cubs were better and just "played down to their level." Yeah, and got their butts handed to them often.
  12. Kitna better stay healthy, because I heard them say the 3rd string QB is Craig Krenzel.
  13. I agree with taking care of the ball, but I'm excited to see Rex RUN the offense, as opposed to Kyle managing the offense, in a game that matters.
  14. One important key I forgot is simply this: Don't miss tackles!! It screwed the Giants (among other things)
  15. I don't think Moose would be too "nervous" aganist his former team. I think he'll be pumped up, so I wouldn't worry about that part. What I would be worried is that Carolina actually shut out Plaxico Burris. I think the Panthers might double team Moose, so someone else will have to step up. Other than that, I agree with your list. I only listed that as a "key" because that was supposedly his excuse for playing poorly vs Carolina in Week 11.
  16. Keys to winning... (1) Stop Smith (2) Contain Foster (3) Make sure Moose isn't "nervous" against his former team again (4) No turnovers (5) Stay healthy
  17. I know a lot can change in a week, but according to weather.com's 10-day forcast, it's supposed to be 30° and windy on Saturday and 34° with a rain/snow mix on Sunday.
  18. I guess it's time to break out the voodoo to have Neifi get injured in the WBC.
  19. 12) The desire not to finish behind Milwaukee again. ;)
  20. huge shock. In general, or from me in particular?
  21. What is with Carrie Muskat's article? Link WTF? :?:
