  1. due date? I may want to change mine The deadline for posting is 11:59:59 PM Central Time on Saturday, March 28.
  2. I can generate sig-style graphics featuring your team if you are interested. My team is listed below: http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll31/southpaw19_josh/sigs/HRDerby/Southpaw19v1.png
  3. I was just coming here to say that. Maybe turning his number around will turn his career around. Yeah, probably not.
  4. Put 2009 HR Derby talk HERE
  5. EXAMPLE ENTRY -- AS WELL AS MY OFFICIAL ENTRY Group A: Ryan Howard Group B: Adrian Gonzalez, Mark Teixeria Group C: Jason Bay, Evan Longoria, Aramis Ramirez Group D: Joey Votto, Justin Morneau, Geovany Soto, Jay Bruce, Joe Crede WILD CARD: To Be PM'd to Laura soon http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll31/southpaw19_josh/sigs/HRDerby/Southpaw19v1.png
  6. Contest The goal: Build a HR team to collect the most MLB BOMBS! Pick a roster of 12 hitters. The first 11 hitters must include: --1 batter from Group A --2 batters from Group B --3 batters from Group C --5 batters from Group D The 12th hitter is your Wild Card and can be any player not listed here. You don't have to pick a WC player on a 25-man roster, but you obviously risk not accruing HRs if your player is stashed in the minors. Post your first 11 selections in this thread. The deadline for posting is 11:59:59 PM Central Time on Saturday, March 28. The thread will be locked at the deadline. You must PM your Wild Card selection to Laura! Do not post it with your entry. It WILL NOT COUNT unless it's PM'd to Laura by the deadline.[/b] She will forward your picks and I'll edit your WC selections into your posts after the deadline. RULES Throughout the season, you may make 4 adds/drops to your core roster of 11 players. The following rules apply to adds/drops: --You must drop a player to add another player. A drop/add is one transaction. --You must post your transaction in the HR Derby transaction thread. The transaction becomes effective at midnight CT the day you post it. You will accrue the dropped player's HRs in any game started by midnight CT that day. You will accrue the added player's HRs for any games starting after midnight CT the next day. --No transactions before noon CT April 5 and after noon CT September 20. --If you only post an add without a drop or there's any other problem deciphering your intent, the transaction isn't finalized until it's straightened out. --You may make 2 transactions before the All-Star Game and 2 transactions after the All-Star Game. These transactions apply only to the core roster and not the WC player. It's use or lose it -- if you don't make 2 transactions before the All-Star Game, you still only get 2 transactions afterwards. --The player added must be drawn from the same group as the player dropped. --No clones. You can't have the same player more than once. --MLB rules for stats will be followed for any games postponed, suspended, etc. --You can only change your WC player once and only at the All-Star break ... so choose carefully! --I will be providing updates every Sunday morning throughout the season. If you have any scoring questions, please post them in the discussion thread or PM me. Final decisions on scoring are up to me. Winner --Anyone can enter. The winner has to be a member in good standing (in other words, not banned) at the conclusion of the season in order to collect the prize. -- The winner will have his/her choice of an autographed Big Stick Rawlings bat, players TBD ('06 = Jeremy Hermida | '07 = Alex Rios | '08 = ???) ~ Laura will confirm last year's winning prize and what this year's prize will be *** --A tie at the end of the season goes to the premium member. If that doesn't break the tie, it goes to the person who posted their HR Derby team first. --You can change your HR Derby team as often as you'd like before the deadline. Just EDIT your original post instead of posting a new team. If you enter two teams, only the first team will count as your entry. NOTE FROM SOUTHPAW19 ~ These gropus may seems a little unorthodox or not what you would expect as in years past. I thought I would change it up a little bit to make the teams more interesting and have a more varied group for the Wild Card selection. I hope everyone has fun this season and CHOOSE WISELY! :) GROUPS Group A Player Team HR ('08) HR ('07) HR ('06) Howard R PHI 48 47 58 Dunn A WSH 40 40 40 Delgado C NYM 38 24 38 Pujols A STL 37 32 49 Rodriguez A NYY 35 54 35 Group B Player Team HR ('08) HR ('07) HR ('06) Cabrera M DET 37 34 26 Braun R MIL 37 34 0 Ramirez M LAD 37 20 35 Gonzalez A SD 36 30 24 Fielder P MIL 34 50 28 Thome J CWS 34 35 42 Dye J CWS 34 28 44 Teixeira M NYY 33 30 33 Burrell P TB 33 30 29 Wright D NYM 33 30 26 Ramirez H FLA 33 29 17 Cust J OAK 33 26 0 Sizemore G CLE 33 24 28 Utley C PHI 33 22 32 Uggla D FLA 32 31 27 Group C Player Team HR ('08) HR ('07) HR ('06) Ludwick R STL 37 14 4 Quentin C CWS 36 5 9 Hamilton J TEX 32 19 -- Jacobs M KC 32 17 20 Huff A BAL 32 15 8 Giambi J OAK 32 14 27 Pena C TB 31 46 1 Bay J BOS 31 21 35 Berkman L HOU 29 34 45 Soriano A CHC 29 33 46 Youkilis K BOS 29 16 13 Cantu J TB 29 0 1 Lee C HOU 28 32 28 Reynolds M ARI 28 17 -- Longoria E TB 27 -- -- Beltran C NYM 27 33 41 Guerrero V LAA 27 27 33 Ramirez A CHC 27 26 38 Glaus T STL 27 20 38 Encarnacion E CIN 26 16 15 McLouth N PIT 26 13 7 Holliday M OAK 25 36 34 Hawpe B COL 25 29 22 Beltre A SEA 25 26 25 LaRoche A PIT 25 21 32 Cameron M MIL 25 21 22 Nady X NYY 25 20 17 Thames M DET 25 18 26 Pence H HOU 25 17 0 Ankiel R STL 25 11 0 Group D Player Team HR ('08) HR ('07) HR ('06) Hardy J MIL 24 26 5 Swisher N CWS 24 22 35 Votto J CIN 24 4 -- Werth J PHI 24 8 7 Ortiz D BOS 23 35 54 Morneau J MIN 23 31 34 Wigginton T BAL 23 22 24 Ibanez R PHI 23 21 33 Peralta J CLE 23 21 13 Scott L BAL 23 18 10 Mora M BAL 23 14 16 Soto G CHC 23 3 0 McCann B ATL 23 18 24 Kouzmanoff K SD 23 18 3 Granderson C DET 22 23 19 Young C ARI 22 32 2 Konerko P CWS 22 31 35 Jones C ATL 22 29 26 Bradley M CHC 22 11 2 Ross C FLA 22 12 2 Ramirez A CWS 21 -- -- Bruce J CIN 21 -- -- Phillips B CIN 21 30 17 Hunter T LAA 21 28 31 Ordonez M DET 21 28 24 Atkins G COL 21 25 29 Blake C LAD 21 19 19 Drew S ARI 21 12 5 DeRosa M CLE 21 10 13 Shoppach K CLE 21 7 3 Hart C MIL 20 24 9 Markakis N BAL 20 23 16 Guillen J KC 20 23 9 Lee D CHC 20 22 9 Millar K TOR 20 17 15 Wells V TOR 20 16 32 Abreu B LAA 20 16 15 Ethier A LAD 20 13 11 Kubel J MIN 20 13 8 Napoli M LAA 20 10 16 Hinske E PIT 20 6 12 Sheffield G DET 19 25 6 Drew J BOS 19 11 20 Griffey K SEA 18 30 27 Kinsler I TEX 18 20 14 Kemp M LAD 18 10 7 Iannetta C COL 18 4 2 Davis C TEX 17 -- -- Lowell M BOS 17 21 20 Hermida J FLA 17 18 5 Damon J NYY 17 12 24 Lopez J SEA 17 11 10 Hairston S SD 17 8 3 Pedroia D BOS 17 8 2 Crede J MIN 17 4 30 Molina B SF 16 19 19 Gordon A KC 16 15 -- Snyder C ARI 16 13 6 Reyes J NYM 16 12 19 Rios A TOR 15 24 17 Willingham J WSH 15 21 26 Anderson G ATL 15 16 17 Hall B MIL 15 14 35 Zimmerman R WSH 14 24 20 Tulowitzki T COL 8 24 1 Past HR Derby Champs 2006 - UMFan83 2007 - Wekse 2008 - The Logan
  7. This makes me sad. I was holding out hope for Warrick Dunn. :(
  8. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I will be posting the threads on the 2009 HR Derby on Sunday, March 15th. Start doing your homework and think of how you are going to assemble your HRD team to win it all this year! :hello:
  9. it's on Southpaw I think. Yes, we are doing the HR Derby this year. I've been working on the groups since January. :) I'll probably put up a thread about joining some time in mid-March.
  10. I can't find it online yet, but just saw on the Mike & Mike show (while channel surfing) that Haynesworth signed with Washington for 7/$100M. This just a few hours after this tidbit from Rotoworld:
  11. Any interest in Coles?
  12. Damnit, I have to leave in 25 minutes for a lunch/seminar and won't make it back to my desk until 1:30 :(
  13. I gave mine to my dad, but it was this one: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0XTsSbguLu0/SPSrfJTZwiI/AAAAAAAAAjQ/PV1VQMTVoJg/s400/1995ToppsEmbossed051.jpg
  14. Before I won a quarter of squares in the Super Bowl, I wouldn't have been able to get tickets this year as I'm getting married in August and all the money is going towards that. However, thanks to the Steelers, I'm going to try and get two games out of a 12-game wish list. :)
  15. Looks like Z shaved off the stash already.
  16. Did he call in? Because Hanley was off today...
  17. I'd highly doubt Rex wants to stay on the sidelines another year here. But at the same time, his name hasn't appeared anywhere this off-season. Perhaps once the FA period starts on the 27th, we'll hear more.
  18. My favorite Chip calls was in the 2nd inning. The first batter is left-handed. Two batters later is Dave Clark, to which Chip says "Here's a different test for Wood... a Left-Handed batter!" LOL
  19. Agreed. At least it seems like they are showing the Sunday games.
  20. And neither has this thread. Ba-dum-ching! :hello:
  21. My first complaint about the network: The Carribean Series pushing back or canceling programming. I wanted to see the World Series Highlights of 1990 the other night, and it never aired, due to the power outage at the stadium where the CS was being played.
  22. Larger than Wood and Prior... who knew?
  23. People were concerned with the shoulder before this news, if I recall correctly.
  24. Bob Costas joins MLBN
