  1. WHO DAT! WHO DAT! I love Cincy chants...
  2. Keep running it now. They're about to fold.
  3. I have a great deal of respect for the Saints (minus Bush's celebration) and their fans, but I'm glad all the team of destiny crap will be over.
  4. They weren't fluke TOs either (except one where he was down) every one was done by pressure and cause.
  5. They did an amazing job of creating TOs.
  6. He pointed at the chasing Bears, front-flipped into the endzone, then danced(directed at no one in particular). I know, I was just comparing Benson's TD celebration and Bush's. One has been there before and one looks like he hasn't.
  7. I missed watching Bush taunt Urlacher after than run by Benson, did he dance as well? Watch Benson show some class!
  8. From the reports I've read on Ramirez espec., he change and 2 breaks on his curves (ala early Prior) are advanced as well as playing with team USA in Cuba. Harvey's change isn't where it needs to be, but his break is further along than Jeff's. I think Porcello and Samardzija are similar except as far as athletic ability.
  9. Maybe not Matt Harvey and Neil ramirez espec., they're supposed to be very polished.

  11. Where I live, we have a monopoly as far as high speed internet so I have comcast with everything. If they create a MLB.TV like the NFL network, I will have to suck it up and get DirecTV with the comcast which bumps up high speed to 57.00 per month.
  12. IIRC, according to some reports that was the off-season where he made some adjustments and got his velo up to where he could touch 99. (I'll look it up to make sure) Correct. I'm glad House didn't make me look like a liar back in October.
  13. I'd be curious to hear what Stoddard has to say.
  14. IIRC, according to some reports that was the off-season where he made some adjustments and got his velo up to where he could touch 99. (I'll look it up to make sure)
  15. You can't grade tools based on stats, look at Maybin, he has very few HRs at West Mich, yet his raw power is still very high.
  16. He's got to pitch decently first. :( To be tradeable, unfort. so does Marquis. For the Cubs' sake, those mech. adjustments combined with a good relationship with Rothschild, Piniella, and Barrett/Blanco has to work.
  17. It is based on his skill set. That's what the similarity index is for. That doesn't grade his ability to hit, run, throw, and defend though.
  18. This fact proves that these projections mean little in real life I doubt you even know what WARP is, so I'm not sure how you can make this claim. I think the projections are a little wonky too, but I'm not tossing out the whole system here. The thing I don't like about these types of projections is that it's based on solely on stats (which includes age obviously) rather than a player's skill set. I know it's ultimate value is geared towards entertainment value (fantasy baseball/fan curiousity) and isn't meant as a be all/end all, but I wouldn't look at a major league projections based only on his tools without looking at what he previously did. I'd still enjoy looking at each of them, but proper context is key.
  19. As I'm sure you know, the ability to hit 99 is different for a SP than where he sits for most of his 95-100 pitches. There has to be something there as far as his feel for a change and an occasional spin to merit his signing beyond a high velo. Until he reaches the point when the feel becomes a good change and the spin becomes consistent, it's the battle between projection/tools and not having an idea whether it'll translate or not. If you have a pitcher that has a higher ceiling (1/2 starter) but has a longer road to reach it and another pitcher that is the same age (21 yo.)and more advanced but doesn't have the same ceiling (3/4 starter) which one is more important to the organization?
  20. I'm sure he wouldn't mind being traded to the White Sox. (I'm joking... hopefully)
  21. That's the beauty of this stage, he's a high ceiling pitcher locked up for the long-haul.
  22. For Jeff at least. We won't know if it pays off for the Cubs for several years. That's a ton of scratch, and reportedly a NTC as well, which takes away a huge amount of any prospects value. They're able to take a 1st round projection who at the time was considered a more likely bet for FB rather than BB and select him in the 5th round and able to sign him while getting starts at SS and low-A, that's a success, IMO. Not many teams would've done the work or used the resources to find out what his intentions truly were and then to actually take that chance is something that doesn't happen that often. It's similar to when teams draft a player lower than he is slotted and while signing him higher than the slotted pick (Eric Patterson or Hellickson from TB come to mind), is able to prevent him from going to school or going back to school. In this case, it involves not only school and cont. to play BB, but obviously FB as well. Even if Patterson doesn't pan out, the inital aspect of being able to draft and more imp. sign someone with that ceiling is a success.
  23. Give the Cubs scouting dept. credit (esepc. Zielinski) when it's due. He did his homework on this one and it appears to have paid off.
