  1. No one has ever questioned Lilly's passion for the game, similar to (as raw mentioned) Z. He does lose his focus at times in the heat of the moment and will carry it into the next batter(s).
  2. Let's hope Marmol is on top of the ball and his balance is good.
  3. Yeah and it's working. Just far enough off the plate to not get to chase and then jam him with two strikes. The Sox just pitched him in, STL is working away to get ahead and then bust him up in the count.
  4. Maybe, maybe not. Still doesn't sway my opinion of his mental approach to the game. Nameless whispers aren't going to change mine. Of course not, it also includes a topic most on this board choose to ignore or refuse plays a role in the game. I hope you don't lump me in with that. I certainly recognize the major role scouting plays in the game from minors through the majors, and that mental makeup is a part of that. I just happen to be one who thinks most of those with the poor makeup are those that are weeded out by the time they hit the majors. It's not going to make or break a player b/c his problems are when he gets angry with himself and he's good enough often to pitch w/out getting pissed. But, he's not very poised espec. for a SP.
  5. Nice for him to get one pitch down broadway, they didn't have the chance to work him away, away, and one pitch in to get him out.

  8. Oh don't give me this horsebleep. It's true, it's been with him before his days with the Cubs.
  9. Lilly should be frustrated, I question his mental approach and toughness on the mound.
  10. Awful job by Lilly there, that SB set-up that DB by bringing in Ramirez.
  11. Bad FB right there. He hasn't hit off-speed stuff as well as he did last year.
  12. Makes me wonder why they don't put an option year on those contracts when they pick up the Lohses of the world. Where's the harm? By this point, these guys should be knocking down Duncan's door to come pitch for him, an option of ~7M shouldn't deter them. Boras overvalued him to begin with. He prob. still values Lohse as a 10/12mil per/4yr guy, he had to bite the bullet once, he won't do it again. Now there is more justification to get a 40+ mil. contract. Lohse definitely will get his money. I knew this was gonna be a good move for the Cards when I saw it. Welly, Looper, etc....now, that is just miraculous what he's been able to do with them. He was the prototypical arm that Duncan can improve. Enough velo and the right arm action to adapt to the 2 seamer and enough command to locate the 9 squares of a strike zone.
  13. They throw Theriot inside and he inside-outs the ball into RF, throw him away and goes with the pitch.

  15. One of the few bad pitches by Lohse and that's where you can get him as his secondary stuff isn't real good, but has to keep them honest from the FB.
  16. I'm hoping Lohse is a one and done for STL, with how well Duncan has him going, I hope he gets a big raise some time in December.
  17. Lilly is keeping them off-balance right now, his FB still scares me though, espec. when behind in the count.
  18. Would you even want to give up that much for Sabathia? I would be against that trade and probably look at the next tier if that's what required the Cubs to get Sabathia.
  19. I like the line-up by Lou, almost identical to what I had. Time to take the series.
  20. My line-up would be: Fukudome-RF Theriot-SS Lee-1B Ramirez-3B Edmonds-CF Soto-C DeRosa-LF Fontenot-2B Lilly-SP
  21. Nice to see the Cubs on the good end of some bad calls by the home ump.
  22. I base it off their FBs, while Shafer has more consistent secondary pitches, his FB isn't as strong as Bristow's.
  23. Shafer is the most likely to make it to the majors, Carpenter and Bristow have higher ceilings.
