  1. I was just reading some SI article about the possible beginning of a Cubs dynasty, and this last sentence niggled me a bit: "Will Nov. 2 be remembered as the first night of the Cubs’ dynasty?" First off, I don't like to tempt the fates in that manner. Confidence is one thing, but I don't like to be premature. But more than that, I thought, "Now wait a minute, it really wasn't November 2nd. The game wasn't over until after midnight." So really, all of yesterday's celebrating was the FIRST day. Today is only the second day of the post-curse/drought era. (Link to the article, FYI: http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/11/03/cubs-indians-world-series-game-7-jon-lester-kris-bryant)

  3. I especially liked the flashback of KB's first professional HR. I think we were fretting a good week-plus for him to begin hitting for power: "Oh, great, he's getting on base, but where are the dongs?"
  4. You spend 162+ games holed up in a booth like a veal and see how you look! I think he always did have a tendency towards chunkiness to begin with, though.
  5. Oh, cool, they DID dye the Chicago River Cubbie blue! I was hoping they'd do that.
  6. It only occurred to me this morning: Game 7 required far too much attention to make any kind of dinner (I live on the West Coast), so I sprung for pizza. We had my favorite from Pagliacci's - a Parma Primo - prosciutto, mushrooms, basil, mozzarella, and goat cheese. And here all you guys were bragging about the power behind your nachos and crab Rangoon. ;-)
  7. Eight to go. Much safer counting down pages than outs. ;-)
  8. Sounds like a nice regular guy. Alou owes him a beer or seventeen.
  9. Has anyone mentioned yet that there are 108 stitches on a major league baseball?
  10. I was keeping it together pretty well this morning until I watched that. OK, I'm a horsefeathering mess now, tyvm.
  11. Bummer. Sorry. Have you tried calling your local Barnes & Noble yet? They might be able to help.
  12. Wait, is it a shop in Aleppo?
  13. What's a Cardinal?
  14. That would make one hell of a résumé line: burned a half dozen Chicago Cubs' ace arms within 20 years.
  15. The good news is, there IS a shirt that has Kyle Schwarber listed on the team. The bad news is, it's red with blue accent. I've always thought that is too confusing given a Cub/Card rivalry - you'd stick out at Wrigley completely the wrong way. If anyone finds a shirt with Kyle's name on it, pls lmk what page on the MLB WS gear site it's on. Thx! ^ (I can't believe I'm horsefeathering posting about this!!!) Theres a blue Nike one on MLB shop that does show Schwarber, but the same style at Dicks does not.... also a blue Majestic brand on MLB shop has him. Do you happen to recall the page #? I'm barely 1/3 of the way through the list. MLB doesn't show that a thing is available in different colors - you have to look at each one. Smart of them, from a sales perspective, of course.
  16. My lovely wife, bless her heart, did not get upset with me after I purchased $183 worth of t-shirts this morning. Just making up for lost time. The good news is, there IS a shirt that has Kyle Schwarber listed on the team. The bad news is, it's red with blue accent. 22. For those of you wondering about ST: pitchers and catchers report Feb 13. And guess what: Cleveland's spring training opener is scheduled for Feb. 26 against the Cubs in Mesa, Arizona. Kind of like starting where you left off.
  23. Go, Cubs, Go! Go, Cubs, Go! Hey, Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs have won it all today!! :-D
  24. If the principal had any sense they'd cancel school today.
