  1. Smoltz said his prediction for game 7 was extra innings, and my immediate reaction was to want to barf. Noooooooooooo thanks. Please no. I have a 7th Circuit argument tomorrow morning, and I'm already going to be tired enough. Too late for a continuance? I bet at least one of the judges would say, "Oh thank God."
  2. Yes, he started games 2 & 3. BTW, how break-proof is the board tonight? You back home now?
  3. My apologies - what does RD stand for? After seeing it in other posts, I don't think it means what I thought it meant.
  4. Like the Schwarber thing. Looked like the Cubs had an embarrassment of riches, but baseball, between injuries and slumps, can make that turn on a dime. And who'da thunk that four games at the AL park could be a GOOD thing? Gosh I love Schwarber in the lineup.
  5. Having Schwarber second in the order = Brizzo magic.
  6. It sounds like a washing machine that's off its axis or something.
  7. Hehe -- what do you think? Holy cannolis!! Game 7 - game freaking 7 tomorrow!
  8. I feel like Naquist essentially spotted the Cubs a game. Dear departed Cubs fans: please frost Jason Kipnis's bat for Game 7.
  9. Do we find out now if Rondon is irretrievably broken?
  10. Javy, I hope there will be a Game 7 and you fetch your stick as well as you just fielded that crap toss.
  11. I officially hate Kipnis as much as I did Murphy in last year's NLCS.

  13. You're not the only one. Unfortunately I live in a dead zone for antenna. Had to stop by Comcast in person, pick up the box, and futz with all the wires and plugins. With tech support from the Philippines. Worked -- eventually.
  14. Actually, that's more of a guideline. I was rooting for the Red Sox over the Cardinals - pleased to see the BoSox celebrating in Busch Stadium.
  15. My rule is you root for the Senior Circuit when it comes to the World Series. Unless, in my case, it's the Mariners vs. come non-Cub NL team. So I'm not surprised. P.S. Sounds like you got a keeper, although it's a shame she likes the Cardinals. At least it's not the White Sox.
  16. I think he's retiring after this year. Lots and lots of cheeseburgers and beer between his QB days and now. QB? I thought they called him Cowboy Joe? Yeah not sure where that or "Country Joe" came from. But he was a star quarterback in college.
  17. I just don't understand how his performance warranted a World Series job. I think he's retiring after this year. Lots and lots of cheeseburgers and beer between his QB days and now.
  18. There's Cub baseball in November! How awesome is that?! I don't want it to end.
  19. Maybe they should try an acronym: GRF. Hm. That's kinda bad too.
  20. game 7 too Yeah I think I'd ride him out. Contreras could chill out at the plate but right now I'm more comfortable with Rossy. He's earned it, too. Been one heck of a leader this year. Ross will have suited up for the last time as a player on Tuesday or Wednesday, and Contreras's AB have been only marginally better than Baez's in this series. The Cubs have little to lose with starting Ross as catcher, and potentially much to gain. Plus, I'd rather see Contreras PH than Ross if the Cubs find themselves behind in a close game.
  21. Yeah, if we get there, he'd bridge Kyle to Chapman. I hated seeing Chapman having to pitch 2+. The only reason it happened was b/c the team had their backs against the wall and a narrow lead to protect. I also hated seeing Chapman bat, but I was glad he ended the 8th b/c I hated the thought of him hanging around on the bases in the cold even more. And I *really* would have been pissed if Maddon had put in Coghlan as a pinch runner. That would probably have been a waste of two very good Cub pitcher outings.
