  1. I'll agree with you on one aspect of what you're saying. It's a team sport. That's why its really hard to reliably judge players based on stats. But since there's only 5 guys on the floor at once, its also pretty damn reasonable to judge a lot based on wins. It's funny that stats guys who feel Rose is so overrated will point to how good a supporting cast he has. Deng, Noah, Boozer, Taj. Yet LeBron's supporting cast of two other top 10 stats players and a handful of very solid role players including Chalmers, Miller, Anthony, Haslem, etc. is just horrible. That's what's laughable. To me, its missing the forest through the trees.
  2. I don't understand anyone who says Rose is overrated. OK, so he's probably not the best player in the league. But I don't see even the biggest Bulls homers calling him the best player in the league. But easily top 5. I don't care what stats people say about his "efficiency". Just look at the W's. It's laughable that he can lead his team to the best record in the NBA last year and thus far this year, and be viewed as a marginal top 10 player by stats people. Sure, I'm sure the Bulls would be a better team if we traded Rose for Chris Paul. Right.
  3. It's been mentioned. But there isn't much information to go on. I think if there is no reliable testing in place, then you just have to assume someone putting up big numbers is juicing. Just like MLB in 2003. And it would clearly affect his value. Bigtime. I suggested it 10 pages ago and was basically ignored. I wasn't sure if that's because people didn't know what to say, or they thought I was stupid. Maybe everyone just has me on ignore? My interest is diminished in him after seeing the comment about increasing home runs in that league. I agree it diminishes his value. Yeah, obviously I agree. I guess the Cuban league was also affected by the poor pitching depth, a live baseball, and improved fitness regimen. They also learned how to control the spin of the baseball off the bat like Mark McGwire did.

  5. Haven't looked through all 19 pages of this thread, but has anyone mentioned concern about steroids? I'm not sure how the testing is in Cuba, but I would highly doubt its as stringent. And considering how many Dominican players in recent memory have been linked to steroids, I would be very concerned about a Cuban player who has so much to gain by putting up big stats.
  6. Imagine how good the Bulls would be with Chris Paul instead of DRose.
  7. I think Rose just broke CP3's ankles.
  8. Rose is trying to bring up the assist average.
  9. Griffin thinks he can shoot.
  10. According to Hollinger, Chris Paul is better than DRose.
  11. Goodness. I think I could play QB better than that.
  12. When I was in high school, there was this PE teacher/coach who taught freshman swim class. I was not in his class myself, but apparently, he made all the freshman shower naked after swim class and got in the shower with them. He would basically "teach" the kids in his class how to shower, including spending a lot of time on how to lather up the scrotal area. I thought it was very weird hearing about this back then, but this made be think of it again. Now looking back, I look on this way differently. Perverts are probably all over PE departments at every level, particularly high school.
  13. If we had Tebow, then they'd miss this FG. But this is a chip shot for them.
  14. Have the Broncos been called for a hold today? Just sayin.
  15. Yeah, didn't he write a column last week saying how there was no way Howard would go to the Bulls? And on his radio segment, he was saying how there was no way it would happen. I guess something made him be a little less negative about it. I'd still be shocked if it happened.
  16. Seems like a hard cap+lack of max offer would do the trick here. Then you'd have teams with very different strategies-some willing to pay 50% of their cap to one guy while others spread it out. The superstars would have to turn down a lot of money to team up to any large degree. Free agent compensation might also help matters so a team isn't faced with getting nothing if they don't take whatever low ball offer that is out there. Who needs the hard cap even? Just getting rid of the max will do the trick. If LeBron and Dwight Howard and going to have to take the same money as Chris Bosh and Joe Johnson, then of course they are going to want to choose where they go and make demands like this. If a team has to pay $30 million for LeBron or Howard, then there's more of a decision. Ironically, the max deal actually kills the small market teams and their competitiveness.
  17. Seriously. Did we really need to see like a hundred replays before halftime?
  18. I'm floored by the vetoing of this trade. It's a mess. If they wanted to prevent players from demanding trades to big market teams, they should've changed the rules. As long as incumbent teams can pay more money to FA's, then big names are going to demand trades to teams they want to play for. The rule is supposed to give current teams the advantage in keeping players, but all it really does is get them to demand trades so they can have their cake and eat it too. All NBA superstars now feel they have a right to play on superteams in big markets and get max extensions at the same time. If you really want to get rid of this, be creative. Make it so players can't get more money if traded in the final year of their deal. Or make a more rigid compensation system with more draft picks.
  19. Many NBA people, including ESPN, saying the new CBA screws the Bulls. Cite the Derrick Rose rule- DRose will get paid more than LeBron. They also claim this new CBA helps Miami. Great. http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-bulls-confidential/2011/11/in-familiar-theme-new-cba-screws-over-chicago/ http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/story/_/id/7283642/nba-owners-concessions-benefit-miami-heat-mike-miller
  20. Same reason why the backup QB is often the most popular player on the team. Orton is a known commodity. There's always a chance the Caleb Hanie might turn out to be the next Tom Brady. Even if it is a miniscule chance. Brad Biggs brings up a good point. Bears might not claim Orton because the the teams after them, GB and SF will probably not claim him.
  21. I don't feel like our season was robbed from us, as I recognize just how lucky we were with injuries last year. Not that this has any effect on injuries suffered this year, but it doesn't feel as unfair due to how fortunate we were last year. This is the king of all injuries, dude. Explain to me why this never happens to a Packer QB? Don Majkowski got injured. Enough about the Packers. They lost half their team last year and still won the Superbowl. I know that Packer fans are too afraid of the backlash to say anything here, but this stuff makes Bears fans seem really bitter. That said, this blows. Who knows? Maybe Caleb Hanie is actually good. Tom Brady did pretty well when Bledsoe went down. Gulp. I just compared Caleb Hanie to Tom Brady.
