  1. Alright, this time I really will try to be positive. Is there anyway we could actually root for the team to perform well isntead of defecating on them and bracing for doom all the time. It's only 2-0. Could be a lot worse. Nice hit Soto!!!
  2. Alright...I'm going to try the optimism thing. It worked the last time I was in the game thread. At least the Cards only scored one in the first. Hmmm....well, I'm out of positive things to say. Lets get some runs!? Maybe the Cubs can get back in it if they take some pitches, get on base, and play the way they did when they were winning. Oh...Pie is starting over Johnson. Nevermind. Let's see if the Cubs can avoid working counts and pop-up as many pitches as possible.
  3. Quality AB from Johnson, just not the greatest result. Cubs will have the heart of the order in the 9th. Let's get some runs!!! :)
  4. I'm thinking Geo triples, Cedeno walks, Ward walks, Johnson HBP to tie the game, then a wild pitch to Theriot plates the winning run.
  5. There's still plenty of baseball. Plus we get another Soto at bat next inning. Mr 8th inning will bat in the 8th too. They can still win this.
  6. Oops...I forgot about Derosa...but maybe Soto will still bat.
  7. Double Steal!!!! Are you kidding me? I guess that means Mr. Cycle will bat this inning for sure.
  8. I don't have a problem with the way this inning was managed. Wuertz is a grounball pitcher...he got two ground balls. Unfortunately there was no double play. Marshall came in and did his only job for the night. Lieber throws a good slider and can also coax a double play fairly easily. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. The world isn't over. There are still 3 innings to go and the Cubs are still getting batters on base in almost every inning.
  9. Let's get some runs back against the Rockies pen!!!!
  10. On the bright side....Lieber is only charged with 1 ER so far in this game.
  11. On the bright side...Wuertz got both batters to hit ground balls.
  12. I think it was a good time to go to the bullpen. The Rockies seemed like they were catching on to Hill and hitting him harder the more they saw him. Whether Wuertz makes the move look good could be another story though.
  13. I think Wood is in for two reasons. 1. The rest of the BP is dead 2. Wood was too rested going into last night's game. That's why he was throwing everything up in the zone. (Well, it sounds like some kind of theory at least.)
  14. Is there a Lieber appreciation thread yet?
  15. I don't know what will be more interesting...the Cubs getting swept or the Wrigley crowd's behavior on Saturday. If the Cubs get behind early it could get ugly early with the fans.
  16. WOOOO!!!! 1 more to go and life can go back to normal. The longer they draw out the eventual losing and missing the WS again, the more it hurts. I'm happy to see them being so efficient this year.
