  1. That's not the first time balls have bounced off his face.
  2. Poor JJ, he tried to ground into a double play but must have forgot there were 2 outs.
  3. IDK, I'd kinda want to see Augie win a WS ring.
  4. Well, I know how I felt when they won the division...and I still feel the same way. I'd rather see them lose 3 straight and go home than put me through the crap they did in 2003. Of course, I'd rather see them win the whole thing. If they're not going to win the WS I'd rather see this run end sooner than later. I don't want to be on edge throughout the playoffs only to have it end badly.
  5. It's time to pull Kerry so he can start game 3.
  6. My grandfather used to say "well, you can wish in one hand and sh*t in the other and see which gets filled first" Did you try it and what were the results?
  7. KW was awesome in the 2003 postseason :)
  8. The announcers are depressing. I can't help but imagine what Kerry's career would have been like without the injuries.
  9. I caught most of the game on MLB.tv. Hendry did not join them in the booth from what I saw. Len and Bob mentioned that the team did not make any trades.
  10. Well, the good news is that Izturis leads off in the 9th (I never thought I'd type that.) It seems like he has been the guy who gets on base to start some of the real rallies in the past. The bad news is that he's already been on base a couple times tonight...so the law of averages is against him getting on again.
  11. Izturis is the official rally starter isn't he?
  12. Is Lou aware that the Padres hit lefties a LOT better than they hit righties? Seems like a strange time to add another lefty to the rotation.
  13. Or you could just watch the team when you know they will win for sure. I'm about ready to switch over to disc 2 from the Ken Burns 9-part baseball series. It's the disc that covers 1901-1910...those featured the Cubs best years :)
  14. He has to be tipping his pitches...or he just sucks and teams have a good scouting report on him now.
  15. Nice AB from Theriot. He worked the count and got a broken bat single to left.
  16. I always enjoy a good firing. I think the Cubs missed the boat with Baker. It would have been much more entertaining if Hendry was in a Vince McMahon or Donald Trump kind of role. He could have made his way to the field before the 7th inning stretch and got on the mic: "Dusty, waddle your fat butt out here. Faster! ... Don't point that toothpick at me." (Dusty joins Hendry on the field.) Hendry - "Look at you Johnny B, you're a disgrace. What's with the stupid wristbands? Do you know what I do to employees like you when they don't get the job done." Dusty - "You tip the cap? Dude?" Hendry- "Yooooou're FIIIIIIIIIIRRRED!" (Crowd erupts in applause.)
  17. Hooray for optimism :) I'm on board with the W for tomorrow prediction.
  18. I love the fake rally... That was in the 7th. The rules state that the Cubs are only entitled to one fake rally per game, and only on days when they feel like it. Actually that was a real rally in the 7th... I think it should be ruled a fake rally since the team gave up 6 runs in the bottom of the inning. It was just there to get our hopes up. No the rally was real. The "give back" is a different catagory. There's the "Fake Rally" and "The give back". That works for me. I was unaware of the "give back" rule. Thanks for expanding my Cubs vocabulary.
