  1. I think the tying run has to come to the plate for this to be considered a fake rally.
  2. I love the fake rally... That was in the 7th. The rules state that the Cubs are only entitled to one fake rally per game, and only on days when they feel like it. Actually that was a real rally in the 7th... I think it should be ruled a fake rally since the team gave up 6 runs in the bottom of the inning. It was just there to get our hopes up.

  4. I think you're right. That Yankee job is looking mighty fine right now. I can almost promise he's going there next year. Quiet down with that...you'll start the speculation threads. I can see it already, "Lou, Shizturis, JJ, Eyre and Cedeno for A-Rod."
  5. a new general manager would be better Well, in theory an enema would flush that kind of stuff out.
  6. I just don't see how we will be able to catch up to the Brewers and to be honest with other teams doing so well, we're probably already done. This team is so pathetic with its inconsistent offense, inconsistent bullpen and the baserunning blunders that give you heartburn everyday save for off days. The only consistent is losing. If our starters our good our offense is bad. If both our starting pitching and offense is good our bullpen is bad. If pitching, offense, and 'pen is good our defense is bad. It's a fairly complicated equation. Some people on the board try to defend certain pitchers by citing statistics. What they don't realize is that it just doesn't matter with this team. They will always find a way to lose regardless of how good a matchup is or how good a player has been in the past. It's exactly like you said: good starters=bad offense, good offense=bad bullen, good bullpen=bad defense. Oh, and a memory from the 2003 post season, when our pitchers have a batter down 0-2...it's a homerun. The only logical explanation is that this team sucks and it always will. But I still like them.
  7. Howry was outstanding today. I'm proud of this team. They're making sure that we will have no hopes left to crush in September. Losing now sucks...but not as bad as being good and blowing it in the fall. Thank you Bob Howry...you are the player of the game.
  8. Awesome :) Good job Howry. You threw that pitch right as I asked if you could give up any more. Can you make it any worse?
  9. That's better Howry. Oh wait...can you give up some more? I know it's tough with 2 outs and all but I have faith.
  10. It's not over yet. I don't think Howry has given up enough runs yet.
  11. Well, we all knew the fielding would be interesting this year before spring training even started. [/i]
  12. Interesting game. Jock had a clutch hit. Shizturis had a multiple hit game. It's craziness.
  13. Well...it's not like Vict. had proven he can throw a runner out at the plate earlier in the game. Oh...wait a second...nevermind.
  14. Pitching? When he was with the cubs he was normally just "throwing" as opposed to "pitching."
  15. Here's a random note. The Cubs rallied in the 7th inning during the Pittsburgh game just before the rain delayed things. That was the start of the win streak wasn't it? Hopefully Pennsylvania+7th inning+Cubs rally+rain=at least a 5 game win streak.
  16. They're expecting about a 1-hour window with no rain from what the announcers said. The tarp is coming off and they expect the game to resume in just about 5 minutes and 15 seconds (according to their previous estimate.
  17. Fox just said they will go back to the game shortly after 7:00 pm EDT.
  18. Eww. Yeah, those NASCAR races probably pull ratings that a reg season baseball game can't dream of. I don't understand the excitement of watching cars drive in circles for hours. even worse, listening to people talk about watching cars driving around in circles I remember one Sunday when I was driving around in Germany I flipped over to Armed Forces Radio to see if they had any baseball games on. Instead they were playing radio coverage of a NASCAR race. I actually left it on for a minute or two out of some kind of sick curiosity...similar to the way people slow down to check out an accident while they're driving to work. Radio NASCAR was definitely rough. Play by Play guy: "Lets go down for a pit report." Pit announcer: "Well right now it looks like..." (then there's too much car noise to hear him as everyone is driving past the pit...all I could hear was a few random words sprinkled into the fractions of seconds as the cars drove past.) I don't watch NASCAR...but I agree that listening to it seems to be even more pointless.
  19. And it looks like NASCAR will have a "weather delay." The stands look fairly empty there right now.
  20. So if the game continues but Fox switches to Nascar...where can we watch the rest of the game? MLB Extra Innings? MLB.TV? No where?
  21. This is great. I'll finally be able to watch a Cubs game in HD here in Virginia. (I think it's the first time since opening day in Cincinatti.)
  22. On the bright side (for me), I wanted to take a day of leave to go to Philly to see the game today. Luckily, I couldn't get the time off. I would have been really bummed if I watched it in person. I do have tickets for Cubs-Nats July 3 and 4. I'm not worried about those games at all.
