  1. They'll be able to resign him with no problem. There is a ton of money available for next season with the cap hit from the $4M Toews/Kane rookie bonuses gone and the likely $2M cap increase. Seabrook with probably be $4.5-$5M, which takes up $1.5M-$2M of a likely $6M. He's worth it. For what it's worth, I don't consider Bolland to be part of the untradeable core of the team. He's not turning into the second line center everyone thought he would. For my money, Dowell can do what he does as a third line center for much less money.
  2. Terrible management by the Packers.
  3. Absolutely.
  4. Hawks with another key win tonight against the Kings. That was a very, very important win. (As was Detroit.) I noticed that Q moved Skille to the 4th line after a bad turnover, but seriously Q... Skille works hard and makes few mistakes and is, you know, head and shoulders better than Hendry. Who is, you know, a defenseman playing on the 4th line and can't seem to displace Boynton or Cullimore in Q's mind. Which reminds me, another Boynton bad play led to an opposition goal. Why is this guy here, again? He's seriously terrible. I hope that when Stalberg, Kane and Hossa return, Hendry moves to the blue line where he belongs and Boynton goes away. Another couple of players that I have been impressed with? Toews, of course. Anyone who knows me knows that I think Toews is the best player on the Hawks, bar none. But, aside from Captain Serious, I think Jake Dowell has been *very* impressive. I would love to see the Hawks trade Bolland in the off season and keep Dowell as the 3rd line center (though they might be selling low on Bolland at that point).
  5. i disagree, he's most identified with the blackhawks. he actually played longer in detoit i think and had more success in both montreal and detroit. but he's a chicago boy. this isn't like the idiot avalanche retiring ray bourque's number. To me, the Chicago Blackhawks are Roenick, Chelios and Amonte. Those older guys mean nothing to me, but I appreciate their place in history. Chelios was a Blackhawk who ended up with Detroit because Wirtz and Pulford sucked balls. I hold nothing against him and do not understand anybody who does. Same here. Though, I was also paying attention when it was Savard, Wilson and Larmer. But, whatever, the principle is the same.
  6. I thought picking up the false start flag (which I've never seen before) was hilarious. They also flagged Indy for a defenseless receiver hit which was borderline at best but didn't flag the Jags just now for a hit on Collie that was worse. The hit on Collie was fine, it was his head bouncing off the ground that caused the injury. ? He was bent backwards by the hit. So the flag should be for illegal bending? Just because he was tackled doesn't make it an illegal hit. Read the thread. I never made the case that it should have been flagged.

They also flagged Indy for a defenseless receiver hit which was borderline at best but didn't flag the Jags just now for a hit on Collie that was worse. That PI call which led to the Jags field goal was really ticky-tack. I mean, come on, that contact happens every covered throw down field (I've seen way worse by both teams in this game).
  9. The officiating has been really bad in the Jags-Colts game.
  10. Yep. It was crap. Especially considering that the Stalberg penalty should have been a five minute major for leaving the ice.
  11. Horrible play by Seabrook. Just absolutely hideous. He cost the team two goals on breakdowns.
  12. Let's get the two points.
  13. Can't really blame him for all those goals. The defense has been really leaky and there have been a lot of turnovers.
  14. It was about even. When the Sharks got their chances, they were in bunches. The Hawks had opportunities sprinkled throughout the game. I thought Skille had a pretty good game. I really liked his hustle.
  15. It still requires you miss 15 consecutive days. If you can put a guy on the IR one day and take him off quickly thereafter it's pretty insignificant. It freed up a roster space for the team. The roster max is 23 players, with 20 dressing for a game. The Hawks have 22 on the roster, allowing them the flexibility to bring up a player to ensure they skate 20. With Hossa, Pisani and Kane all out, that was one too many injuries to the forwards (Morin was brought up into the 23rd spot). Putting Hossa on IR ensured the Hawks had enough space to bring up Klinkhammer. When Hossa and Pisani come back next week, my guess is that Scott goes back to the press box and Klinkhammer goes back down. The real question is whether or not they let Morin go to World Juniors.
  16. It's really used to free up cap space -- it's not like IR in the NFL, which means you are done for the season. It's much more like the DL in baseball. But the DL in baseball requires specific amount of time missed. Is that the case here? It's seven days after the date the player is placed on IR. But it can be retroactively applied in most cases. Compared to the NFL and MLB, it's pretty flexible.

  18. It seems to me like Keith and Seabrook have been a major part of the problem. If that is true, then the hope for improvement should be realistic. They've been much, much better the past couple of weeks. The team as a whole has been much better as well. On the defensive end, the Boynton/Cullimore pairing is just brutal, and that's why Q was splitting up Keith/Seabrook and Campbell/Hjallmarson. It had the rather predictable effect of worsening the entire corps, rather than merely one pairing. Kopecky hasn't been very good. Brouwer's been MIA. And don't get me started on Bolland. He's been awful. I think most of the problem has been too little time for the team to gel with too many games in the beginning of the season.
  19. So Keener can't say he thinks its a hard hit, but you can tell its soft? You said not but a couple of posts ago that it looked "soft" to you. So, you're the judge? You get to decide whether it's hard or soft? Because to me, this looks and sounds like you are a hypocrite. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.
  20. Of course there is a subjective scale. It was a very light hit, the softest one I have ever seen that resulted in a concussion. You could tell Jay gave up in the first half. This was his way out of the game. He is making a statement to Lovie and Jerry. I'm confused as to how having the back of your head smack against the turf is soft. Because it wasn't slammed that hard against the turf. This sort of stuff happens on every play. Yes. It was hard. Just stop. Your ignorance is appalling. Concussions can and do happen at any time, on seemingly innocuous hits. It could have happened earlier and Cutler was showing effects and the head to turf hit exacerbated it. In short, WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. All we know is that he has a concussion.
  21. Ridiculous. Just stop. Concussions happen all the time on "soft" plays or hits. They are MUCH more frequent than people used to think. Watching that play in slow-motion makes it looks like nothing, but that's a hard hit.
  22. 22 games versus 13.
  23. Favre did that team a disservice coming back so late.
  24. [expletive] HE SHOULD BE GONE!!! It's Jordan, not Jim. He's merely bad, not soul-swallowing. (I know you're joking... roll with it)
