  1. I lost track of the number of folks I banned. Not because it's a ton, though.
  2. Good win last night. They did more than enough to win, and got the 2 points against an inferior opponent at home. I'm satisfied. I think the missed chances evened out a bit. There were several where the Hawks could easily have scored. Emery was decent -- good enough to win. You can't hold him responsible for redirects, but the third goal was one that should have been stopped, but Emery really lost his net (not the first time last night, either). This is a game the Hawks would probably have lost early last season.
  3. Man, Beckerman is just bad.
  4. Another instance of Jerry downplaying his own team's faults. While I do agree with him that Newton played great, the defense was downright pathetic and should not have any blame alleviated. Considering we've had a history of containing much better QBs like Rodgers and Brees, there is really no excuse for such a performance on defense. I wonder if he blames the offensive line problems on the other defense "playing great". I couldn't believe the amount of times Newton got the pass off just before the pressure (for lack of a better word) got to him. Newton's really impressed me. His accuracy is really improved, his release is quick, he runs through his progressions decently and he's very mobile. If he can keep improving his footwork and reads, he's going to be a very good NFL quarterback.
  5. Pirri needs another year. I could see Ben Smith making the #4 center spot. Possibly.
  6. It was cute when Graham started talking [expletive] to him after the play. What a POS. i've had about enough of that guy today. Every catch he makes he stares down somebody. He needs leveled. Had a way of dealing with smart asses like that... it's called a punch to the nuts.
  7. Damn, I thought Roach was going to get that.
  8. Is that the first offensive holding call of the game? I can't recall one on either team.
  9. Just have to make that catch. Just have to.
  10. I am very glad to see Martz calling the underneath to the RB, and Cutler/Forte recognize it. Very nice.
  11. Offensive line has been fine for the most part. Really? I've seen a ton of pressure on Cutler. That specific play might be on Davis, but the line hasn't looked good. Most of the pressure have come from edge rushers that the scheme isn't designed to block. I've seen plenty of pressure up the middle as well, but if the pressure is coming from the edge, why aren't the Bears attacking their blitzes?
  12. That was terrible on the D. Meacham was wide open for like 3 seconds.
  13. Offensive line has been fine for the most part. Really? I've seen a ton of pressure on Cutler. That specific play might be on Davis, but the line hasn't looked good.
  14. Offensive line looks bad. As predicted by all.
  15. Sharp's price would be diminished this season since he was a free agent to be. In truth, the time to have traded him was right after the Cup. This is a pretty good deal. Sharp can play just about anything the Hawks need him to play, and I think will serve just fine as the 2nd Center until Kruger can take it over (or Mike McNeill if he pans out the way everyone thinks he will).
  16. Wow. That's just... bad. If someone offered me $9M to sack a QB, well, I'd sure try really, really, really, hard to get it.
  17. Really disappointing, too.
  18. I think the Hawks are going to give every chance for Kruger to win the 2nd C job, and it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't take it over at sometime during the season. Likewise, Morin is going to crack the roster -- maybe not right away, but sometime soon. He was really set back by injuries last season at the World Juniors and Rockford. But eventually, he's going to be the #1 LW. The Hawks are led by StanBow and ScotBow. They know what they are doing -- look at Detroit's success. The two teams really are mirror images of one another in terms of long-term construction. This offseason was about undoing some salary cap damage and ensuring that the core was taken care of and surrounded by solid, physical players who are also veterans. One thing is clear: StanBow has a salary figure in mind for pretty much every position on the team and when a guy like Campoli wants more? He'll be gone -- but the team won't jerk him around and leave him dangling. Right now, I think the Hawks are a better team than they were last year, and they have enormous talent in the pipeline. Furthermore, they have more players than they need, which will lead to competition to play. And that's a really good thing. Guys who don't work hard or who won't do what Q wants won't play. End of story.
  19. I think you should be. Joachim Loew was just as important, if not more, than Klinsy for the German team's play in 2002.
  20. I've been missing for a while, so that doesn't surprise me... given that I'd be one of the first and most vocal to celebrate. =D> It's about time. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Bradley; I wish him well and hope he finds a good gig. It's just that there are so many better coaches to choose from for a National side.
  21. Looking at the remaining schedules, all the Pacific teams other than Dallas have really tough schedules: 1. Canucks, 4 -- Flames, Wild, Oilers x2 2. Sharks, 5 -- Yotes x2, Kings, Ducks x2 3. Red Wings, 5 -- Preds, Hawks x2, Wild, Hurricanes 4. Coyotes, 3 -- Sharks x2, Kings 5. Kings, 5 -- Sharks, Yotes, Ducks x2, Stars 6. Preds, 4 -- Red Wings, BJ's, Blues, Thrashers 7. Ducks, 5 -- Sharks x2, Kings x2, Stars 8. Hawks, 5 -- Red Wings x2, Blues, Canadiens, Lightning 9. Flames, 3 -- Canucks, Avs, Oilers 10. Stars, 6 -- Kings, Ducks, Wild, BJ's, Avs x2
  22. I was really impressed by Ream last night. Demerit was fine. They both unfortunately slipped at an inopportune time. Boca was much better than Bornstein (who was not good). Chandler and Lichaj were good. We've got something good brewing on the right. Didn't see much from Donovan. Edu was uncreative and invisible. Bradley was pretty good. Dempsey was awesome. Jones was better than Edu, but nothing special offensively. Chandler was good in the flow when Dempsey moved to Forward and I'm interested to see if this works. Altidore was unimpressive. Agudelo was the opposite. The offense ran better with Clint up top, but really, is anyone surprised by this? Clint is the man.
  23. After seeing the new kits against Argentina, they look pretty good. They still have a sort of T&T/Hurricane warning flag mishmash, but at least they are red.
