  1. A big win. Definitely need to follow it up against Columbus and Pittsburgh.
  2. Same as Illinois raising a banner for a national championship. Same as what? You...run along back to the nunnery. A. If you don't like the escalation, don't start it yourself. B. Eh? I don't want to hang out with you.

  4. Throw the money at Holmes, please. Thanks!
  5. I think the Hawks are much better than their record indicates. They were mediocre at best early in the season, but have really played well of late. Their record is beginning to pick up a bit, but doesn't wholly reflect how good the team has been. Some of the recent losses are to very good teams -- no matter how good you are, you are going to drop games and points to decent teams. Here's the season so far by month: Oct. 7-5-1 Nov. 7-6-1 Dec. 6-5-1 Jan. 6-2-1 The Hawks are 8 points out of first in the division and 2 points out of 4th (Nashville has a game in hand).
  6. Really good game today. A little rough on the second PK -- they couldn't clear the zone, but the Wings are a very good puck control team as we all know. Plus at 4-1, they didn't have their foot on pedal.
  7. Great night tonight. Keith and Seabrook were very good -- I think +4 each for the night. Bolland looked great, Pat and Steve both commented that he looked perhaps the best he's looked all season. And let me tell you, that pass to Pisani was really, really great. Point by point from my previous list, they showed me that: 1. Keith is still going to do dumb things occasionally, but has looked a lot better of late. 2. Bolland really looked great tonight. 4 shots and I bet when CORSI is available, that line dominated. 3. Leddy is already better than Boynton and Cullimore. He will make mistakes -- I saw two pretty big ones -- but I'd rather see that from a rookie than a has-been (and I hate watching the once-a-game bad judgment Boynton pinch that leads to a 2-1). 4. They looked like last year's PK. 'Nuff said. 5. +/- is overrated as a stat since you can get a +/- for doing nothing and it affects your stats. But it is a decent tool. Squally makes a good point on the PK shot blocking. Sopel was a shot-blocking demon last year.
  8. I think many people here are underestimated how much losing Brian Campbell hurt this team at the beginning of the year. Likewise, the challenge has been that the Hawks have had a lot of injuries to their key players rather than to "just" players -- Campbell, Hossa, Kane, Toews. I've watched just about every game this season and here are the reasons why this team has struggled: 1. Keith has been drastically underperforming. 2. Bolland has been a disappointment. 3. The Boynton/Cullimore 3rd pairing was a disaster. 4. The PK. I don't know why it's abysmal, but it is. 5. Sharp, Kane, Keith and Seabrook are all a minus.
  9. The Bears are not going to look past Seattle, not after losing to them already this season. They are going to come out flying, and if the Bears get a big turnover or a quick score, I think it'll be a blowout.
  10. You should. That is pretty blatant corruption. The US and England should charge Blatter and his cronies and being filing extradition requests. They won't be, of course, but eff them. It's time to break FIFA. Start picking off some Federations like the US and England and you'll find change happening quickly.
  11. The PK needs a serious overhaul. If Kitchen is coaching it, he needs to be gone.
  12. Pretty important win tonight. This team is just different with Toews.
  13. I know this is early, but I thought it might be useful to talk about what people might like to see in the offseason with respect to the new CBA. Personally, I seriously doubt there will be a lockout. It's not in either party's interest. There's a lot of talk of going to 18 games. If so, I think you'll likely see: 1. Preseason schedule reduced by 1-2 games 2. Another bye week added 3. IR rules changes to allow players to return after recovery, including potential expansion of PUP list and allow PUP list usage throughout the season. 4. Roster expansion of 3-5 players 5. Transition tag reform I think you'll also have to see some kind of salary cap and a rookie salary cap, with the players wanting to see the franchise tag changed. My guess is that the players will give a stricter rookie salary cap for a looser (or no) overall salary cap. I don't think you'll see playoff expansion and there definitely will not be league expansion.
  14. Terrible game. The Blues gooned it up and the refs let them.
  15. Love the bye. Thanks Vikes! (BTW, the Eagles were just exposed, again.)
  16. Wow... this is useless conversation. How about getting back to talking about football?
  17. Not that I care, but the Falcons got hosed on that spot.
  18. I'll be at the game against San Jose on the 30th.
  19. They were a little rusty early, and looked like they were doing some adjusting to Stalberg and Hossa back in the line up. But, they didn't sit around and wait for Hossa to do something. The defense cleared the loose pucks in front of Turco, and they were patient in the offensive zone, took advantage of their opportunities. Frankly, that third period was incredible. The BJ's are lucky they didn't lose 8-1.
  20. That was phenomenal coverage.
  21. Another short field... let's grind this one in.
