    I don't care how much Pie is going to cost of the next few years and very very expensive Dunn is. Dunn is a difference maker. Pierre Walker Lee Dunn Ramirez Murton Cedeno Barrett We have a deep bullpen , a couple of guys waiting at Iowa, and two Aces when healthy in Miller and Wood who projected to be ready May or June Maddux in shape and motivated to get a ton of innings this year.

    The Cubs can include Sing so he can take some at-bats away from Hatterberg. Williams,Hill,Pie,Sing for Dunn and Freel.

    Sad to see it end this way. It would be fun to see Sosa go for his #600 in a Cubs uniform. If come end of Feb and Sosa still has no team would he be humble and come back? With Baker his backer as a new Sosa attitude maybe back on his side? I am betting this will be a Phil Rogers article.

    Wasn't Ryu the guy the Cubs signed out of high school. I thought they projected him as a top of the rotation starter now he seems lucky to be in a bullpen in the majors sometimes last season.

    If he bam, bam, bam, let him play at the end of last season, maybe the breaking in period is mostly over. Dusty let Hollandsworth, Dubois, Hairston, Gerut, and Lawton all have a chance before bam, bam, bam, giving LF to Murton. That makes Murton 6th in line, or 'Plan F' in Dusty's scheme. Only a giant ego like Dusty Baker would pat himself on the back when his Plan F succeeds in the dying moments of a failed campaign. Didn't Murton move fast in the Cubs system last year?

    Did anyone else notice Sullvian has the payroll at 87 million allowing them room for trades at the deadline.

    It wouldn't surprize me that if the Reds do trade Dunn , we would be getting back Eric Milton also. Maybe the Reds don't Pie back but I find that really hard to belive because over the years the reds have always loved top athlete outfielders. Maybe you could get the Reds to bite with this offer Hill Williams Nova Dope Sing

    I would love Hendry to at least make the phone call and let his agent know that we would love to have him here and would offer him the same treatment the Astros did. Followed by calls from Baker, Lee, Maddux, Wood, Prior offering a recruiting pitch. You at least have to take that shot. The Cubs payroll can float handle his contract. With ticket increases , new seats, more money than thought coming in from rooftops and the sign behind home plate .

    The Dodgers new GM didn't want to deal with the Cubs because of sour grapes with Baker or Hendry I can't remember. Depo arragnged the meeting with Baker and Bradley he was fired before a deal could be put together . If Hendry had traded Mitre, Nolasco, Pinto for two relivers this board would have had a meltdown. We traded for one of the top leadoff men in the game when he's at his best and we might still have overpaid. I would have done a Walker for Mcdougal or Alfedt if KC hadn't gotten Grudz and the Cubs found a hitter who could replace Walker elsewhere

    Guys Giles took less money to stay in san diego deal. This is like saying we should get into the bidding for Clemens because we have the money , he wants to play in Texas somewhere or Boston or New York.

    eww I would do a Walker for Heilman but Ohman is a cheap still pretty young lefty who had a great year last year and can only get better.

    I would love to get Freel back in that package but it won't happen.

    I love the idea of watching the Cubs over the next three years with Dunn on the roster. Lee Ramirez Dunn Barett Prior Zambrano Thats a young and talented roster that will be in there primes with plenty of Cubs to spend to help surround them with talent.

    I think were gonna get a big year out of Maddux this season. Maybe the retirement talk from baker lit a fire under Maddux? Either way I love this talk about Maddux begging out of games. You guys complain all the time about Dusty not handling his pitchers well this is one card where Dusty has played his cards well not over extending him. Maddux is a student of the game and a warrior on the mound he knows what he has left in the tank when Dusty asks him.

    How come you have grissom listed to be making 1 million next season. He's a NRI I doubt he'll be getting a million dollar contract.

    i'm suprized no one has taken a chance yet on Kevin Brown this offseason for a chance to crack there rotation.

    You know that the line from that movie is "California Penal League" ? I don't know what a California Pino league is. I also don't know what your comment has to do with the thread at all. Vance I made the post in another thread about the Dubois playing there in that league now. It a refrence from the movie major league about where wild thing Rick Vaughn is asked where he pitched. He had just been released from Jail.

    With a guy like Wuertz/Nova slated for use in the sixth inning Dusty shouldn't have to overuse are starters. I can't really remember a pen with more talent in the last years off the top of my head that the Cubs had. Ohman/Eyre/Williamson/Wuertz are all 7,8 inning guys on other clubs. Ohman and Williamson could be closers for some clubs when healthy.
