    Even if next year Bryant, Baez, Alcantara and maybe Soler come up and mash, get us into the playoff hunt and turn us into the hot young team a high priced FA could see fitting in and winning rings with for many years? If we are offering similar money as all the other teams, I'd like our chances based off our projected future. we're not going to have real money until 2020. we'll get horrifically outbid by half the league if he's really up for grabs. given how little we have tied up in the situation he's talking about, we have real money right now. not unless we're using the cheese in discarded pizza boxes as currency now. The Cubs didn't spend the money that they had allotted for this offseason and Theo has said it will roll over. Sorianos contract and others fall off the books this year. I thought I read the Cubs had 55 million locked up for next season and that was including Shark. Dealing Shark and Hammel a month early also help the Cubs net another $5M in savings this season.

    Mark Reynolds and Olt are great comps. Except Olt is a lot better defensively. Play Olt and Lake the rest of the second half and see if you can build some surplus value from them since they don't fit in the long term plan.

    Alacantra being included in this deal would be quite the steal for the Cubs. The A's top three prospects and a young MLB ready upside arm. :good:

    I wouldn't trade Valbuena alone where the top piece is something from the bottom half of the Yanks top 10. In fact, unless one of Sanchez, Severino, or Clarkin were involved-I'd have a hard time dealing him to them. I had Clark and Severino in the back half of the Yankees top ten. I love Sanchez just not sure the Cubs could put together a package for him not that did not include Wood.

    Were was the A's Alcantara mentioned yesterday in reports? Cash doesn't really make any sense since the normally cash strapped A's are now on the hook for 5M after taking on Shark and Hammel.

    Luis Valbuena /Wesley Wright/ IFA bonus slots Yankees get a cheap upgrade at 3B/2B with team control and a bullpen arm for the stretch run.They have already blown past the spending limits already so bonus slots will lighten the tax load. Might that be enough to snag a guy from the back half of there top ten and 2 low level arms?

    Please trade Barney for a bag of baseballs sooner rather than later so we can play Valbuena at 2nd and let Olt play everyday. Olt is a 25 year old third baseman with plus power who can take a walk and pick it with the glove.

    Seriously? ?? (Don't want this missed at the bottom of the page) Is Neuby the guy who works/worked in TV? Yes seriously. It could be her agency doing due diligence but they have indeed at least inquired about the offer. At the same time if her agency didn't reach out after the offer was made she should be seeking new representation.
