  1. I'D rather just stick with Castillo. Trading prospects and paying Montero 10M isn't much of an upgrade.
  2. Without even touching the farm clubs Theo has some attractive trade pieces and role players to deal. Adding Martin instead of wasting resources on a guy like Montero is a great plan when you can get serious value in return for Castillo. Castillo Wood Wada Valbuena Wright Rugganio Coghlan Sweeney Olt Lake
  3. I'll bet the Cubs move Hyde back to the front office and let Maddon find his own bench coach and 3b Coach.

  5. Ken Rosenthal ✔ @Ken_Rosenthal Follow Within industry, #Cubs viewed as a leading contender for Maddon. Renteria signed through 2016. Team could simply pay off rest of his deal. Joel Sherman ✔ @Joelsherman1 Follow For what it is worth, lots of folks in game predicting Maddon ends up with #Cubs — maybe sooner than later 12:20 PM - 24 Oct 2014 Buster Olney ✔ @Buster_ESPN Follow My guess on Joe Maddon: He eventually winds up with the Cubs. Couldn't hurt in the Shields sweepstakes.
  6. Jackson might rebuild some value in the pen with his big fastball. The only reason to keep trotting Jackson to the hill every fifth day is because you are tanking for a good draft pick in June. :beg:
  7. I still think Theo has another two for one deal left in him to clear some room for the boys in Iowa. Rivero/Rosscup-Villeneuva/fujikawa/Wright Soler- Sweeney/Ruggiano/Coghlan Beeler/Jokisch- Jackson
  8. I refuse to give him page views unless it's a charity blogathon. I get that he doesn't want to burn a possible bridge with the Cubs but his renovation project "coverage" couldn't have been penned better by Craig Kenney himself.
  9. And Javy. But yes, agreed. Soler is already on a major League deal and Rivero is 26. I don't see a reason to start Baez's clock this soon while he is still learning second base.
  10. Soler and Rivero need to be in the majors now.
  11. Next June how many teams won't be able to sign a player above $250K?
  12. 19 year old southpaw Carlos A. Rodriguez is flat out dealing in the summer league 53IP/54K/4B/1HR/1.18 ERA

  14. Total in season savings just short of 7m on the year.
  15. I've seen him ranked as high as 4th on some Braves prospect lists with him BA having him 8th. Thats a really good get for utility infielder free agent and an average loogy.
  16. Gonna be fun to see if Theo pulls off a package deal or sells off Bonifacio and Russell individually.
  17. I'm still betting and hoping for a consolidation of assets type trade. (Russell/Fujikawa/Bonifacio/Outfielder) for a couple Single A arms to dream on and cash relief.
  18. Barney Bonifacio Russell Wright Villanueva Valbuena Fujikawa Coghlan/Schierholtz/Ruggiano/Sweeney/Lake Valbuena Jackson IR Slot money Quite a mix of spare parts. Theo should be able to turn this mix into some salary relief or some interesting young arms to gamble on.
  19. Yankees Jackson/Villenueva/Slot money/ Cubs pay half of Jacksons deal Cubs In season payroll savings from payroll shed and not spending the full IFA allotment. Saving 50 percent of Jacksons deal the next two season. a prospect equivalent to Corey Black last August. The Cubs also open more audition time for the kids and the battle for the number draft pick. Make it happen Theo and .
  20. I see the position move as the exact opposite. With Javy learning a new position it makes sense to leave him at Iowa to continue to get instruction and keep the arb block from starting.
  21. 5th in the standings right only 3.5 out for the 1 pick!
