  1. They might play better consistently over 162, but I don't see them going 40-10 over a 50 game stretch again. I don't seem them getting some of the pitching performances they got (Priester), and I don't see them getting repeat performance from their oompa loompa corps (Durbin/Collins/Frelick). Also was Turang's aberrant power surge an aberration? They're a good bet to be good again, but there are some questions.
  2. This was their WS, at least it was to their fans. I hope they enjoy it, because the Dodgers are probably about to stomp a mudhole in them.
  3. People talk crap, but I think most here are able to separate their revulsion for Shaw's person with his performance and player potential (see opinion on Shaw v. Busch). Outside of his brief hot streak his numbers were an affront to humanity and including his hot streak, they're still putrid. And the eye test is even less reassuring. That said, outside of the two Japanese 3B likely to be posted and Bregman, there's not a lot else out there.
  4. I'm disappointed, but largely fine with this outcome, given the circumstances. In early September I was expecting the team to roll over and immediately die in the playoffs. Boyd looked gassed, Shota looked gassed, Palencia was hurt, Tucker was essentially dead, and PCA and Seiya were zombies. Seiya and PCA woke up a bit and hopes went up, but Horton got hurt and hopes went back down. And some days I almost forget our presumptive ace/co-ace missed essentially the entire season. I think we did pretty well in the postseason, all things considered. I'm bummed, but not as exponentially less than a Brewers fan would be if the roles were reversed right now, I think. As for the offseason, my irrational meatball brain isn't sure about Tucker at this point. I can see him going the route of Bryant - gets hurt, can't play hurt. He's great when he's healthy, but...yeah. But I do think we saw the value of a Tucker-level hitter anchoring the lineup when he was going well. He was a catalyst for sure, and there's not another player of his (potential) caliber on the market, and I don't think he's gonna get the $500M it looked like he might a few months ago. Not that it matters because PTR won't pay him anyway. I don't want to see Seiya go, but mostly because I just like him. I know room should be made for on of the OF prospects, but I'd honestly rather it be Happ. I think the bottom might fall out there any minute now. I think Busch is a legit dude, but Shaw is not, even completely setting aside that he's an 80 grade pos chud. He just looked like a child among men for like 90% of the season/postseason. Hi peripherals offer little hope and his exit velos are tragic. His Savant page is a tale of woe and misery. I might deal him while he has a whiff top prospect cache remaining. That said, not much on the 3B market but Bregman, but maybe a run at Murakami/Okamoto (though I know there are defensive concerns there)? But I have a bad feeling we're just going to see them largely run the offense back with one of Caissie/Alacantara in place of Tucker. I also like the idea of a trade for Joe Ryan. The FA market for pitching is pretty uninspiring. Not sure about deal Jamo away, but he has value and I would like to see a starter with some legit velo brought in to contrast with the rest of our largely soft tossing rotation.
  5. I wish Shaw would get raptured or something already
  6. I wouldn't be the least bit bothered if Shaw is banished to the shadow realm this offseason
  7. And his overall playoff numbers might be better than his regular season numbers if not for the Astros' trash can shenanigans
  8. The Packers are fortunate Lamb was out, or this game would have been over already, Packers' D has been total ass.
  9. What a wild ass game
  10. Sure seems like the past weeks indicate that the Lions are the best team in the north. Not sure how the Packers aren't blowing the Cowboys out.
  11. Perhaps the ultimate LOLMETS moment. For that collection of talent (who actually performed, too), who had the best record in baseball at one point in the summer to die such a malingering yet inexorable death is almost incomprehensible. I can't imagine being a Mets fan right now.
  12. Should, the Cincy's offense is meh, but their front end pitching can cause anyone an issue. Unrelated, watching the Mets always makes me think it's a shame that their broadcast team is wasted on that team. Of course Darling and Hernandez being former Mets is part of the formula, but they are really good.
  13. Yeah, if the Mets don't rally in the ninth here the Reds are in.
  14. I'm torn on the Mets/Reds making the playoffs. On the one hand, the Mets collapsing epically is pretty amazing, but on the other hand Marty Brennaman is still alive and I want him to suffer. Plus I think the Reds could also be a really tough out in a short series. My hatred of the Mets has faded a lot over the years, but I am currently watching their game for the potential schadenfreude.
  15. I also hate that it has to be a challenge system; it should be full ABS or keep it as it is. But the minute the K zone became a thing this almost had to happen. And I'd much rather things actually be consistently fair/accurate than to live and die on human error.
  16. No doubt. The ironic thing about "America's Team" is that it seems that one thing that all non-Dallas fan Americans can agree on is that they hate the Cowboys. Watching them disappoint their perennially delusional fans will never get old.
  17. This is my only immediate concern. I've not paid for MLB.tv in years because of Tmobile
  18. Charlie Kirk, far right propagandist, rage baiter and all around amoral scumbag
  19. Sigh. I suppose the less we know about these guys' views the better, if we want to be able to root for them.
  20. Second one today O'Neill seemed certain he got So was I lol
  21. Not only that, but he's on the IL with the always ominous "forearm strain". The Cubs TDL was very disappointing, but there's no way the Brewers' was any better. And like the Cubs, they didn't fill their biggest need.
  22. Yeah, I'm massively disappointed for sure, but the names that were tied to the Cubs throughout (the controllable SP) weren't moved at all. If they had been, that would make things so much harder to understand. That would be heroin to the forehead material. He wasn't going to spend his assets on old rentals in a clear seller's market, and I can at least understand that.
