You want Travis Wood to be the 8/9th inning guy? could u imagine him as the closer with a super A++ starter in the mix? wow.

    i have been sort of blown away by how bryant has been pitched. he's obviously high-profile after his track record and his spring, but i thought it was just a given that mlb pitchers started every rookie out with a "well, he hasn't seen MY fastball" period. he's pitched around from day one. yeah he may go down as the most pitched around rookie without a homer ever

    Cubs are definitely going to contend in September (barring major major injuries) and spoil a lot of other teams playoff hopes.

    Your probably right, i'd like Bryant to be in a slot where he can see more fastballs though. i mean Coghlan or Castro arent that scary as say a Rizzo after Bryant. but im sure at the end it wont matter. Russell last yeah its for sure an upgrade over the current situation.. However im slightly concern about Russell vs. RHP in Iowa. vs. Left 8/16 .750 SLG 1Ks vs. Right 4/24 .208 SLG 5Ks Have you heard of small sample sizes? Yeah last year he was a bit better... LH 1.2 OPS RH .809 OPS

    I took him saying Russell is at 2b because of how thin they are there as a sign that he'll be up very soon. If he was going to be in Iowa for a few more months it wouldn't really matter if they had 2b issues in the majors or not. Of course I am guessing, but I think there's a really good chance he is a Cub this week. Alcantara clearly isn't earning any playing time from Maddon right now. I'm expecting Russell up, Alcantara to Iowa soon, then La Stella can replace Herrera when he returns. Yeah. I wouldn't be shocked by him being in Cinci. Wouldn't be shocked by him coming up on the 4th in St. Louis, either. Maybe he'll join Starlin and Jorge by debuting in that [expletive] hole though. Yeah i was thinking 4th in STL also. Gives him a solid 2 weeks of games at 2b Russell batting 9th will be fun

    Quick question, figured someone around here would know. Do you have to be selected for the All Star game to participate in the home run derby? I know in the NBA you dont have to be an all star to participate in the dunk contest.

    God i remember taking the day off to see priors first game, but a slugger is more exciting.

    so the cubs had 1 too many pitchers, they didnt announce the result of the MRI yet. However Olt was put on the DL for Bryant... assuming Ramirez injury is bad.. do they get another reliever or make up the extra pitcher with a position player? if position player, then who? what if the surprise to the call up is Russell?

    Yeah; I'm Mr. Pays No Attention to This Kind of Stuff and even I was well aware of Strasburg and Harper for a lonnnnnnng time. Bryant is gonna rule, but I don't think he's anywhere near that kind of hype. And Trout was kind of a relative slow burn, too. yeah east coast teams always get more hype including prospects.
