I was kinda blown away that Lester has not thrown to 1st base aside for a couple times since 2013. St Louis was taking super big leads on him.. Does this strike you guys at all as a concern for our ace?

In 2021 this will all be water under the bridge. He will hopefully have two or three WS rings and love Chicago, but yes his contract will be very high but I don't think this will play any part of if he resigns with the Cubs or goes to the Yankees. You could be right, but some people dont forget, at the very least Boras wont forget.

Im sure by now everyone saw this or heard about it on TV/Radio http://m.cubs.mlb.com/news/article/116051238/bryant-reassignment-will-fuel-a-fire-to-get-back-to-bigs But the one part that makes it interesting is this line here: Asked if he had any hard feelings, Bryant said he "didn't want to talk about that right now." Assuming he becomes the superstar everyone thinks he will be, his revenge will be in the form of $$$$ by then the renovations will be done, but will the cubs really pay potentially the highest contract ever come his FA time?

If by athleticism you mean "runs fast," yeah, it's been there all along. @BenBadler Matt Szczur now in CF. Guy looks like he could deadlift a school bus if he wanted to (from 7/2011) 2,137 MiLB PA .379 SLG Don't be obtuse. Why is that obtuse? He is only 25 i mean some guys just take longer to get it and it all clicks

If by athleticism you mean "runs fast," yeah, it's been there all along. I mean look at all the different positions he played in College Football leading Villanova im just saying besides speed he is prolly pretty strong too.. I dunno but I'd let him play left to start the season but hell, im not a professional baseball person.

I'm no huge fan of Coghlan but starting Szczur over him is crazy talk. I dont know based on spring training at least Szczur has performed better Szczur AB 43 HR 5 RBI 9 AVG .349 OBP .417 SLG .837 OPS 1.254 Coghlan AB 38 HR 2 RBI 9 AVG .289 OBP .420 SLG .526 OPS .946

Szczur was BA's #64 prospect in '12 after a 10 HR season, but has hit just 8 in the three seasons since the (faint?) hope is basically that his swing was badly broken before and he's discovered something mechanically that works much better for him Just read his wiki, so he was a mega college athlete at Villanova hmmm seems like his athleticism has been there all along --- interesting

We have a lot of trading chips at the deadline. Honestly based on Spring Training Performance, I dont know why Szczur isnt going to start in LF over Coglan he has been a pleasant surprise. I remember once upon a time Olt was regarded as a premium prospect, but I've not heard much about Szczur is this one of those totally unexpected situations?

In todays Jesse Rogers Report "I look at it as 'Why not me?'" Bryant said Friday morning. "I think I'm the type of guy that can go out there and do it. I've made it a point of mine to come out here and show them that I can." Will the cubs dropping him down to AAA affect him mentally / emotionally at all!?!? Cant argue with the stats and numbers he puts up, we know he will rack up the K's but its not a big deal.

Doing it on the field is different than projections. Either way, don't be shocked if Castro is not a cub by the trading deadline. -

Not only should we wait to see what we have in Baez, but it might be a good idea to make sure Russell is as good as advertised in the ML. He certainly looks like a future ML star, but other top prospects have failed at the ML level. I see your point, but I have very little confidence in K-ez. Seriously though Russell, looks different than a normal prospect, similar to Bryant, he should just learn on the job in the bigs, seems to have a good eye.. You don't believe in Baez, but then you want to trade Castro? Hmm. Yeah i honestly really like La Stella, his on base skills are pretty good.I'd rather the team have another top line pitcher than a few more homers from infield position.. -

Don't we have enough middle infield and pitching depth that we don't need to collect guys from the Dodgers and turn them into pitchers? I've also been burnt so many times over the years its hard to imagine this NOT happening

If Baez is in AAA, why isn't Russel at 2B? Russell is declared not ready yet and La Stella gets on base alot so they keep him at 2b Not ready for 2B but you have him at 3B. Not that it matters, silly predictions and all, but yeah. Oh I did didnt I? Typed that up quickly during lunch break. All Right so Baez still sucks and La Stella still at 2b , russell at 3rd cuz the LF Platoon was just plain bad so they moved byrant there.
