  1. If the Cubs get one, I'll want two. Of course I would sacrifice any chance at two just to get one.
  2. If only we had Jason Kendall back......
  3. Perhaps this is the homer in me, but is there a single player that has been more valuable to his team (not named Pujols) than Geo Soto? The NL has a weak crop of MVP candidates this year (IMO), so I am a little surprised not a single Cub is in the discussion. I would declare Geo the Cubs' MVP if it were up to me.
  4. Amazing game. Of all the games the Cubs should have lost, but won, this one has to top the list.
  5. Lets hope they are still around in two weeks.
  6. The Brewers look out of it. They are a team on the edge.
  7. Considering how well we have been playing in Milwaukee, someone should sneak into Wrigley and turn on all of the sprinklers, ala Bull Durham, and try to get the games moved to Wrigley North.
  8. I didn't see the game, just the outs. It sure didn't look like Houston made much solid contact at all, so Z must have had something going for him. How many times did an Astro hit the ball directly into the ground in front of home plate?
  9. An amazing performance. He could have completed the no-no with just six fielders. There were only two fly balls all night, both to Derosa in right. I don't think Ramirez got a single assist either. The only well hit ball was the liner to Derosa in the 6th or 7th. Z really helped himself out as well. That play on the dribbler in front of the plate early in the game was very nice and had no margin for error. He also gave a clinic on covering first base.
  10. 1. Cubs clinching in 1984. I blame the '84 Cubs for my struggles during my freshman year in college. I skipped way too many classes to catch Cub games down the stretch and in the playoffs. This is number one because they had never, ever even been in the playoffs in my lifetime to that point. They will be my favorite all-time team until one wins the Big One (please be this year!). 2. Cubs clinching in 1989. I was out of college and working my first real job and had a bad case of bronchitus and flu in September and October that year. It may be the reason that first job didn't quite work out. 3. Zambrano's no-hitter. I have been waiting for one of these since, well, 1972. My memories of sports goes back to 1973, so this is the first Cub no-hitter in my conscious life. There have been so many close calls. 4. Wood's 20 strikeout game. This is actually a greater feat than a no-hitter, and probably a better pitched, more dominating game. I was so pumped about this game at the time because it gave a glimpse of the potential of our new young ace. If only things had worked out like they should have. 5. Game Four of the 2003 NLCS. It was the greatest feeling in the world knowing that the Cubs were just one game away from that elusive World Series. This was followed shortly by the worst feeling in the world in Game Seven of that series.
  11. My favorite since I was at the game with my Sox-loving nephew: Lee and Ramirez going back-to-back to tiethe game in the 7th, followed by ARam's walk-off against the White Sox. The look on my nephew's face on the way home was priceless.
  12. Does he know that he's Felipe Lopez and was recently let go by the Washington Nationals? http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/26666835/ This is funny, considering who said it. He gift-wrapped one of the two Cub victories with his shoddy defense and two-cent brain.
  13. As Cub fans, sometimes it feels like we already have.
  14. This is probably a lottery to sell off the obstructed view seats. You know the ones where you can see a support beam and each foul pole. At least you can say you were at the game.
  15. Can we throw Marquis into the deal as well?
  16. Not a single Brewer that matters? No Prince? No Braun? No Kendall for that matter? Really, I don't hate any players. There are players I hate to see play the Cubs (Dunn, Lee, etc.) but I don't hate them. Except for AJ Pkljhfuhr, maybe.
  17. Dempster and Hill for me. I thought Hill would be the clear #2 on the staff this year and that Dempster would be back in the bullpen by now.
  18. Looked like Cotts almost got a bat barrel up his arse. Great job Neal!
  19. What's this "Marlins fan" you speak of? In the cooler under Bigfoot.
  20. Looking at the Fan Graph, that has to be one of the biggest swings of the season not involving the ninth inning. The Marlins were about 80% to win before the inning and now the Cubs are at 98%.
  21. Great move. Taking Pint-uh-oh out five batters too late.
